I love how Memphis first comes to his mother and asks for her blessing to do this. Not because he wants to but he has to in order to protect his brother. Family man, through and through.
People can hate on Cage all they want. He was the best fit for this role.

You can just see that Memphis wasn't willing to jump into the business again until he talked with his mom he was trying to keep his promise to her that he would leave it all behind.
Love how he is pretty much asking for his mothers permission
Honestly, this scene has so much context and importance after you learn their Mom was responsible for Memphis leaving. For such a short and small scene, it packs a pretty big punch.

I dont care what people say, Nicolas Cage is always a cool actor in my book. Remember watching this film over and over when I was 12-13yo, i've probably seen it 100 times.
