HI Dave, Glad I found you your demo on how to paint realistic gold was fantastic I paint many pastel paintings with gold in them but always struggle with it looking realistic but not any more a BIG THANKS TO YOU 👍, Will be following your lessons in future .,
The random knowledge, which artists come by, during their lives, whilst getting to know their different subjects, always makes me chuckle. You seem like you are quite the ear-ring expert now…..and I’ve become extremely knowledgeable about the nursing habits, of Macaque monkeys! 😂 Anyway, I just wanted to say, you are so incredibly talented, and you make everything look SO easy, (which we know it isn’t), just like breathing! Thank you for sharing your talent and techniques with us. Take care everyone, and stay well. 🧙🏼♀️🌒🌕🌘
Lol... UA-cam is such a great place to discover all sorts of knowledge. Thanks for your kind words. You are welcome... I love to share what I have uncovered over the many years of practice. Take care and all the very best. 😊🙏
@@DavePortersArt Thank you Dave ☺️ Yes, we are lucky to have so much information available to us. I, and many others, I’m sure, are incredibly grateful to you, for sharing your amazing knowledge with us! Thank you, and take care sweetheart. I’m looking forward to your future videos! 🧙🏼♀️🌒🌕🌘
You are so welcome! thank you for the kind feedback and encouraging words, it hasn't been easy to sort all the tech out to make these videos happen. Thanks for taking the time to comment. 🥰🙏
It was fascinating to see how you create the two colours. I must try for myself. Oh! and greetings from deepest West Yorkshire (not as far flung as some of your followers).
Hi Guy, it is very interesting... I love drawing shiny things for sure. West Yorkshire... my mother's family is from Sutton In Craven near Keithley. All the very best to you. 🙏
@@DavePortersArt Thank you Dave. I used to work with someone from Sutton and my son has a colleague from there too. Whilst Keighley and Sutton are close neighbours, the latter is in North Yorkshire (although both were in the West Riding before 1974). I am a few miles south of Leeds.
Hi Jen... I have always gone with pastel as I like the looseness of them... which help with flowing with the moment. I have bought a large set of professional 100 luminance Carand'Ache colours pencils set .. and to honest they didn't suit my approach. If you like to work slow and methodical and precise I think they are great with what results artist are acheiveing with them. 🙏
Great video. I haven't used my supplies yet but I think I should start small pieces like you are doing here. This is inspiring me to do a picture of my diamond ring 💍, but it might be too hard 🤔...
Hi Snow... thank you. Thrilled you are inspired. Thank you for the idea... I will do a diamond ring sometime next month. So keep a look out for it. All the very best with your pastel journey. 🥰🙏
Dave, As I do my pastel work using hard and soft pastels I would like to include your technique to add gold and silver to my work, as there are so many pastel pencil brands in the market could you please give me a list of the main brand's and colour I should get . Frank.
Hi Frank, I do list brands and colours number in my Patreon... there is a real time version of this video... please check out the list below this video. 🙏

I wish you could do one live chat ...sometime in future for Q and A
I am really have to watch my time, I will be developing a new membership soon which will include Q and A🙏
I wish you could use UART sanded paper in one of your near future videos
UART can warp too much. I just stick to Pastelmat. It would be the same technique on UART. 🙏

Hi Dave...very useful for us but what do you do with these studies?
I store them 🙏
Do you varnish spray pastel art or frame them?
Frame or store with Glasscine 🙏
Do you supply the line art, or do we have to draw it ourselves?
I don't supply line art... you could always buy a projector. 🙏
What is your opinion on richness of pigments in Cretacolor?
sorry never used that brand, so can't give any opinion.🙏
What brown was it that you used at first? It almost looked like dark purple. Would dark purple work?
Carbothello Brown... number 635
I feel its tough to blend with colour shapers on pastelmat. Stumps seem to work best for pastelmat
I only use colour shaper for small detail blending. Mainly use pencil over pencil or my finger or cotton buds.🙏
If I may ask what is the color of the Pastelmat Card ?
Dark grey 👍
@@DavePortersArt Thank you so very much for taking your time to reply. Your chanel is amazing and taught me so much.🙏
Why do you never use soft pastels? Is because its quite messy...thats why i dont use
see my latest video 🙏
