Would have been an awesome gig. I think they are heading to Perth soon so might get a chance to check them out myself. Hope the vid gives you a bit of a heads up on how think he plays it. Cheers
@@oldguitardad5374 yes was good. never seen them before. they broke up when i was like 10. yes helped, you play it a bit simpler than i was trying but close. The sax solo i played improv. Might be a good song at the open mic. I usually take my Strat and a modeller instead of the usual acoustic, just to be different. :) Thanks again. i subscribed
Dude! That was awesome, thank you! Been looking for a decent vid to learn this…like you I’m getting back into it after many years of being busy. Subscribed 🤘🏽😎🎸
Possibly the best cover i've seen online! Hats off to you, really - especially well done for playing by ear too. Everything down to the techniques and playing style are immaculate! Thanks for sharing this amazing cover :)
Mossy sings and plays this complex line. I wonder if he recorded the lead and vocals separately for the record? Mossy is a fantastic entertainer, whether as the guitarist of Chisel or him alone and acoustic. Seen him twice around the time he released Six Strings acoustic album. I reckon we wore that CD out played literally hundreds of times. Great cover btw.
@@oldguitardad5374 What software /method do you use to isolate the band from the guitar to give you the backing track mate? I have 10 years on you and too old to master your 'Jimi's hanging thumb' technique. Keep 'em coming!
I don't isolate the guitar I just play over the top of it when I can't find a guitarless backing track. I simply place my iphone on a tripod near the speakers of my stereo but pointing towards my guitar amp. Over time I have found a happy balancing point where you can clearly hear my guitar but still hear the track behind it. Sometimes I get the balance wrong and you can hear me hitting the strings accoustically if the volumes aren't just right as it i sonly a tiny iphone mic. For a time I used DAW (Reaper) to record the guitar then would mix it in Davinci Resolve to get a cleaner mix but that is too much of a hassle. Its just iphone/stereo/amp and hit record. I then select the best recording from several camera angles and mute all the others I cut the track camera angles in Resolve. In this vid the guitar sound track is the front on view seen at the beginning and end of the video. I simply play the song three or four times from different angles and mix it up from there. Cheers
Very nice playing there OGD. Great single coil sound, is that an Ibanez? I can't recall ever seeing an Ibanez strat copy. I once owned an Ibanez LP copy (25 years ago), and to this day, I regret selling it.
Yes, it is! Its a 1976 Silver Series. Can't recall if this was pre or post the law suit they had with Fender. Its a Japanese model. Had it since I was around 17 but rarely played it (because I sounded terrible back then). It had a good run out as I was re-learning ho wto play in my 50's
Sorry mate I just play by ear so not sure if it is right or not. I always watch a live version of the song first to get an idea of where the original artist is playing on the fret board and then just use trial and error to find what I think are the right notes. I don;t use tabs at all. Sorry.
just saw them last night perform this, stuck in my head - gonna learn it

dont have the stretch,
what stretch are you referring to?
Love you cover but absolutely hate those side views and camera on the head. I'd like to see what you are picking but please, not the side views.
