Hi Simon. Just revisiting this lesson. One of my favourite Cold Chisel songs & a great lesson. I recently had the pleasure of seeing Ian Moss perform an acoustic version.
This song is off the album Circus Animals. I think Simon made a typo in his reply. Do check out this album and its predecessor, East. Arguably Cold Chisel at their finest during this period (1980/81). Although even their most recent album, Blood Moon is a cracker from a couple of years ago. Great lesson Simon, thanks. Talking about the Mossy aneurism above, have you seen how he plays the chords in the chorus to Bow River?
@@1530max Very kind Max, thanks for correcting! I'm never great on the music history side of things. Will check out the bow river chorus chords - have you got a link to a live video? I'll check it out...
@@SimonMorelguitar about 3 mins on this video is a good example. It’s how he plays it all pretty much in the same position, using him thumb as well. Years ago I bought the “recorded versions” CC tab book and the way he plays it is too hard to fret clearly or even finger sometimes. But of course he makes it look easy. ua-cam.com/video/PXtlT2-1QBE/v-deo.html
LIterally just watched them tonight in Melbourne at the Sydney Myer Music Bowl and got home ( a little boozed) and thought - fuck i'd like to play Bow river.......
Hey mate. Any chance you could do one on Ian Moss’s live version of Saturday night. There’s a good video on UA-cam of it and I’ve been trying to figure it out for a couple days and I’m not getting too far 😂 he uses some funny chord shapes that are giving me an aneurism
I think we've all had the Ian Moss aneurism at one point or another. Check out this lesson here on the acoustic version, this might help...ua-cam.com/video/z3Y0Ozh7nBk/v-deo.html
Hey Simon any chance you could do a lesson on Rising Sun by Cold Chisel? It’s got such a great groovy blues beat and rythem to it and I would really enjoy jamming and playing along to it cheers brother
