The Masada is a great value. Can't go wrong with any IWI product.
The IWI Masada folks have there sights dialed in for 25 yards. If you edc this handgun and practice it will become easy to hit your target center. 12 o'clock hold brings you to were you want to be.
Explain 12 hold for new shooter
@B. Schmidt 6 works best for me
I have a older IWI Jericho 941 .40 S&W Deadly accurate, will eat anything and feels good in the hand. Some of IWI’s guns require very hot rounds. Thanks for your input on this gun.
If is made in Isreal you have a lethal weapon.
That’s so weird, every pistol I’ve ever shot hits low and left. Must be a manufacturer issue 😂
jesse sims shoot with middle of index finger so you don’t pull them 😂
lol, i get it, ha ha
@@landonbragg6732 * whoosh * lol
Landon Bragg that’s shot went over his head😂😂😂
I worked with an instructor a bit and he told me all right hand shooters will shot low and to the left because of the body mechanics of pulling the trigger and what it does to your aim. He had me aim and pulled the trigger for me and the problem disappeared. I shot better with my Springfield XD than the Masada but they have very different triggers. That spongy Springfield trigger might go a long way toward compensating for the "down and to the left" that most right hand shooters do.
The Masada is a great gun. Especially for the price. I picked mine up for $329. And anything by IWI is going to be quality.
*YES ERIK, THE IDF are trained to LOOK AT THE SIGHTS DIFFERENTLY than most of us In NORTH AMERICA do. The IDF way is to USE THE DOT in the front sight to COVER THE SPOT where you want that bullet to go. NOT POST UNDER TARGET... DOT covers target That is the IDF WAY.... IT WORKS FOR THEM.*
Ejection pattern looks to be good from this angle.
I've had multiple brands have a misfeed/ejection issue here and there. That one little bobble doesn't concern me in the least. Obviously, needs more rounds to prove itself. Hopefully, these end up being solid!
Thanks for the look fellas!
Some of the people on here seem to think a gun never malfunctions, and there is no break in period. It's usually the people that either don't own guns, but act like they own 67 guns and shot 14,000 rounds a year. Or people that are completely ignorant to materials sciences. Every gun I've ever owned has choked at one time or another.
@@xenonram well said. Agree 110%
I just got my Masada and was having the same issue with failure to extract with Magtech 124gr. Happened 3 times in 100 rounds.
Also shoots slightly left from factory. Had to buy a sight pusher and will adjust and retest soon.
What's a sight pusher
@@danrogers4795 a thing that pushes sights
Lol yeah push that plastic lmao
@@dELTA13579111315 what about a shit push?
Just getta glock Mannnnnnnn lololololol.
Just got one and I was shooting low too. Uses sights from Sig 320. IWI says the #6 front and #8 rear will fix the point of aim to what we are used to in the USA. My reliability was GREAT! Best I've ever seen even with junk offbrand stuff that my other guns wont shoot. Probably grit in the magazine or chamber.
Also like the P320, the masada is serialized on the FCU and not the frame and so you can put the FCU into different grip modules like a compact frame or if you want different colored frames.

Love how people think a combat/defense pistol is supposed to be accurate at carbine/rifle distances/ranges. No people. It's designed to be accurate as a last resort in close quarters.
According to the manual, sights are regulated at 25 yard zero. Not sure which ammo works best. Super reliable.
Iwi zeroes the sights at 25 meters.thiz is a combat pistol
All iwi products are military grade.
I purchased one and have had no issues whatsoever, no failures and does not shoot low right left or anything, straight to what I aim at ? Odd you have had any issues because all the other reviews I have seen have been fine.
I remember when I bought my Glock 19 five years ago. Off to the range and on the second magazine...2 failure to feeds. Now at 6375 rounds and not one "hiccup" since the
original FTF.
Same here
First, you're using the sights wrong. It's not a 6oclock sight like glocks. My guess on the jam was lack of prep or bad round. They have had may 1000+ round test with 100% fire.
Edit: It is highly recommended to oil weapon prior to shooting, as they come fairly dry new.
Guns FTE, FTF, it happens. It happened to my glock 23. My only glock. Within the first 200 rounds to be exact. After that, no issues. I just bought the Masada, and have not shot it as yet. My first 9mm in 31 years. Prefer the harder hitting rounds, you know what they are. Especially since i carry one for duty use. I know this post is old, but once i shoot it, I'll give a update.
One Jericho I purchased came over with heavy packing grease / cosmoline. Perhaps that just needs to be cleaned . Also to my understanding you’re not supposed to lollipop the target you’re supposed to put the three dots right on top of what you intend to shoot
Different guns use different holds. They are not all zeroed for the exact same sight picture. Some put the front dot over the target, and some put the target above the front dot.
mannys9130 Yeah, that was my point. This specific Gun was manufactured with his site set that you put the front post directly on the target. Also, to my understanding it was zeroed at 25 yards with NATO standard 9 mm which is hotter than a lot of US manufacture around
Any chance you guys can get ahold of a Ruger 57?
Agree
I’d like to see this also.
Tfb tv has a vid on it if your interested
22 plinkster has a video on it. But I’d like to see Hickok and eric/chad to review it as well. I’ve waited for competition to the fn for years lol.
@@theshotgunscientists TFB TV is a pretty good one as well I really like them and obviously Iraqveteran888. They both seem to cover guns the other doesn't and TFB does a ton of shot show coverage and top 5 vids along with their reviews
I have a hard time with break in periods. I feel they should work 100% out of the box. 3 PPQs and have had 0 failures with any of them so far with 5000rds through .40 cal, and another 1000 through 9mm and 100 through the wife's new 9mm. Still like how the Masada shoots so smooth but have trouble trusting it for now.
I agree, they should function 100% out of the box. And only get better once “broke in” as all the moving components wear in. After all a firearm is just a series of simple machines.
I agree with the gun working right out of the box, but...... I think manufacturers say "break in period" instead of "hey moron, get out and shoot your damn gun before you trust your life to it." It's more of a break in period for the user instead of the gun. Hardest cringe ever when someone pulls out a gun they say is for protection and then they can't figure out the slide release or forget where the safety is, only to find out they've had it for a couple years.
That’s stupid. Get a club if you don’t want to break in a weapon.
@@sycamorebacker1 only thing I have ever owned that shot the first 1000 rounds with no problem.. I own Sigs and Glocks both failed the 1000 is a damn Taurus G2C it had first FTF at 1500 plus round and it was the ammo
@@knsbbq1951 I put 2000 into a CZ75 compact at 100%, but I usually don't shoot lots of rounds. But I've had several that were 100% while I had them. S&W, Springfield, and some others.
You don't line up the top edge of the front post with the top edge of the rear sight. Ignore the edges and line up the three dots. It will be right on. when done properly. It's the way the isreali's sight.
Check the extractor for a burr, mine had one on it on the extractor head, not the claw, a simple polish got rid of it, also polish the feed ramp this helps, it seemed to me that the coating on the feed ramp on mine extra thick. I have also noticed that a larger brass brush ran inside the chamber of the barrel helps reduce that coating also. This helps with the extraction of the rounds from the chamber. After I've done all this I haven't had a single issue. I have shot several different ammo manufactures, having more issues with the Winchester White box, not issues with any JHP ammo or with any higher pressure ammo, like +P and +P+.
Another issue I have is it hitting low left POA also about 4-8" low, I did put a Vortex Venom on mine, this is my first optic on a pistol and its a different beast. I have also noted that this firearm seems to have a real stiff recoil spring, so I believe that it needs a slight break-in period, mine has been slowly getting smoother after about just a bit over 500+ rounds through it.
I also forgot to mention that this pistol will take Sig Sauer P-series replacement sights, I have seen most using the P320 sights.
Ive never had one issue with this gun. Must be your ammo or you got a lemon. IWI is amazing.
He tends to have issues w guns others don't. He has baby hands so his natural hold is limp wrist o'clock
We got to set these boys up with a fund raiser for Transitional lenses for their glasses!
I definitely didn't clean my Masada before firing, only lubed the slide rails. That's a good point. I'll clean it really well and pump a couple hundred more rounds through this weekend.
1:56 snatching that trigger. The long reset gave you away there Eric. 😄 Didn't quite make it to reset.
The reset on this thing is insane. One bad thing about shooting so many guns is I don’t always have the luxury of using the same thing all the time. I’ve kinda got to figure it out and go for it. 🤷🏻♂️
@@Iraqveteran8888 I hear ya. It's not easy shooting everything well. Tons of variation.
I'd rather replace with night sights. They're dovetailed for Sig p-series pistol sights.
Sight of aim is the one issue that keeps coming up. The sights are a different style than what's taught in the US, which is top of the sights and dots all lining up. The Masada sight dots line up but the sight tops don't. Reportedly that's an Isreali thing, zeroed at 25 yards from the manufacturer. Line up the dots and adjust for range.
One of my top picks of 2019
The Masada has combat sights set for POI/POA at 25 yards.

He should done like Iraq veteran 8888 done .. should have pointed out out right there and then it was a malfunction just like Iraq veteran 8888 done on this Masada

@@mannys9130 he should have done like Iraq veteran 8888 done and showed it instead of trying to hide it
I'm with you Eric, I always have to envision the sight picture in my head and carefully figure out which way the sights are supposed to go to adjust for elevation. Lol. Keep up the great work everyone.
It’s just opposite when adjusting. Lower the sight to raise impact/ raise it to lower the impact. Going left makes the shot go right. Going right makes the shot go left.
The rear sight is normal way of thinking raise to raise the impact and lower to lower the impact. Left is left right is right
I have one. 0 issues in 1k mixed ammo. The sights are zeroed for 25 yards and they take any sig dovetailed sights

My masada had a few failures to extract, up till about 300 rounds. The sig 124 grain fmj cartridges work best IMO. Put the next three hundred through it with no problems there-after.
Once again great video!
What do you mean, "sights are regulated"? I don't believe I've ever heard that term.
The more handgun review all over youtube makes me want one. The price right I like got offer.
I purchased an IWI Masada a few weeks back because I did not yet own a pistol that had an optic cut for mounting a sight onto the slide. The price point really appealed to me given the reviews I read/watched and given the higher prices of various other ORPs for sale. I immediately had a Vortex Venom 3 MOA dot sight installed right out of the box, so the high front sight post issue hasn't been able to present itself. Once that sight was put on, I walked the pistol right into a range lane and hadn't even taken down the gun yet. I put 100 rounds through it and had one single failure to feed a cartridge. I didn't determine the culprit that caused it, but that is the only malfunction I had. With the Venom adjusted and zeroed at 15 yards, myself and two gunstore employees who had not yet shot a Masada, helped make the sale happen for me, and installed the sight as well all shot >1" groups using 115 gr. FMJ rounds at 10 and 15 yards. Upon taking the pistol apart to clean it afterwards, I was amazed at how gunked up, nasty, and dusty the pistol was. Everywhere I looked, there was lint in grease and residue of such all over. I have to wonder why I didn't end up having more stoppages and malfunctions. Another interesting thing as well is the polygonal rifling in the 4" barrel is like none I have ever seen before. There are no definitive grooves, just shallow lands.
At the end of it all, did you like it?
@@DanMaverick22 I definitely like it! I still have my Masada and it has become my top favorite pistol I own for anything but summer concealed carry. There wouldn't be any hesitation on my part to go out and buy another one, the new Masada Tactical which is an even better value, or even the smaller Masada Slim pistol. I've had zero malfunctions or other issues to speak of through hundreds more rounds of fire in the past couple years. Fired by myself and a few others to include a female with smaller hands. Others and myself have admired the smooth and crisp factory trigger a lot. Way better than a M&P 1.0 or early 2.0 and beats all Glock factory triggers I've ever pulled. It's not sloppy, but has that broken in smoothness to it and a light pull weight of about 4 lbs. I haven't had to go modify anything internally to improve the pistol, but I did install rubber Talon Grips because I felt the grip needed a little more traction.
@@garrettjaneski6209 Very nice, you helped me a lot. I bought one but I didn't get it yet, but I was afraid of having make a bad deal since I saw many videos saying it shots low. But I'm a new shooter, so maybe I won't notice it. But I got preoccupied nevertheless!
@@DanMaverick22 I think you're really gonna enjoy that new pistol! I don't know if mine shoots low with the sights at really close range because I had a red dot sight mounted on mine right out of the box before I ever shot it. The Masada's higher front sight blade is set to be level with bullet impact and zeroed at 25 yards, which is slightly more than what many pistol come set up for. So, you might have to aim barely above the center of the target you're aiming at to hit it dead center at distances that are closer like 10 or 15 yards.
Is it grouping low or is the front dot the impact point? I'd wager it's a combat hold not 6 O'clocl.
your exactly right!!
Thanks for the great content. I'm good with the polymer pistols I have. I'm saving the last spot in my polymer collection for the Ruger 57.
My buddy had one. It was a jamomatic. He ended up selling it. Do yourself a favor and get a S&W. M&P Police trade in for the same price. This is simply a cheaper clone of it anyway.
I think most pistols need about 500 rounds run through them before they're deemed reliable. Just like any other piece of machinery they need to wear in a little. The sight issue is a math problem at the engineering level. I've seen the same problem with Meprolight sights hitting low.
That’s the first time I’ve heard of a failure with the Masada.
my masada didn't hold back the first couple mags, has not done it since. I think the pistol is quite reliable from my experience.
I recently fired one NIB. Two of us shot it for about a 100 rnds total. For both of us, it shot quite low and quite left just like yours. Otherwise, a good gun? 100% reliable for us.
Would be helpful to see the pistol dissembled. Also, maybe I missed it but I did not hear your take on the trigger compared to other poly/stirker pistols. But, appreciate the review and the time you took to make it.
I got the masada a couple of weeks ago. No failures aiming issues were fixed when I spoke with a friend who was in the IDF. All in all I like the pistol. I would love to have a shorter front post. But a good inexpensive gun.

Oh come on Eric you know faster moving bullets shoot lower then slower moving bullets that's generally why lighter weight bullets shoot lower in a given firearm over heavier weight bullets. You're a handloader you should know that. I worked up some 357 Magnum using 110 grain xtps over a max loading of Blue Dot, and I cannot get them things to shoot to point of aim in my Ruger Security Six with a 4-in barrel I got my rear sight topped out and I still can't bring them to point of impact.
Well that sucks. How is one expected to be part of a well regulated militia if their sidearm isn't well regulated from the factory?🤔
12:18 is it possible to turn/twist the barrel 180 degrees because crown isn´t correct ? I saw a vid a guy did it and the results being great !!
With the competition in that price range, which is darned good, those issues don't bode well for sales.

How reliable are IWI pistols overall?

The front sight being too tall is a well known issue with this gun. It even looks too tall. I’m not a fan of shooting 12 o’clock or even 6 o’clock for that matter, but I do believe this pistol takes sig or m&p sights. However why in the world wouldn’t IWI put the right height front sight on these guns? I may get a compact Masada if they ever make one
#8 back and #6 front sig sights will fix the sight problem guaranteed
Thanks for the info
