My favourite thing to do with this ship is using the plasma jets to bully ships with front shields, pushing them around to lodge myself in their rear and demolishing their thruster area. It feels overwhelmingly strong
Completely agreed. I love the Aurora for maneuverability + the antimatter blaster build (I think I was going with 5 though). In vanilla I usually flew that ship while leaving the battleships to AI. I flanked enemy ships, often getting behind them while my fleet peppered everyone from the front. The closest direct upgrade to the Aurora is Shadowyards Mimir. It's also funny that the Aurora looks like a steel gauntlet that you slap your enemies with. Edit: finally found an upgrade to Mimir - Epta Consortium's Aeolus. Tougher, more maneuverable, well equipped. The active Phase Dive is more useful.
I also really like the Odyssey, I love high tech ships. It's a capital but it's fast and I love the broadsiding nature with usually plasma cannons and I like to run two xyphos support wings.
My variant have same build with yours, but replace plasma cannon with autopulse laser. Sustained damage with harassment from Salamander, shield pressure from Squall, and shield breaching with breach SRM sure give the enemy pain, just make sure have hardened Shields mod
I got this ship in the beginning by the ship selling event thing. I did not know that i would now never upgrade my flagship xD Used hardpoints and everything facing forward for Antimatter and had a blast with it.
In one of my recent plays, I lucked out and got 3 Auroras early on. Build my fleet around it, felt like I was playing on easy mode. Favorite build so far is three face lances and Sabots.
Aurora is good but I don't like that it feels very reliant on missles with pretty limited ammo. You can only take out You mention that 12 reapers are overkill but I'm very used to running SO champions with Cyclone launchers+missle spec/missle racks which gives 40 and sometimes I'll still run out of reapers before my CR gets too low. I find that that reapers are an amazing utility missle since you get to either give the enemy 4k flux or 8k hull damage then start pounding them with a plasma cannon before they realize they're in the kill zone. Nonetheless I like the build and I'm gonna give the Aurora another chance now that I've become a better pilot and maybe incorporate it into my fleet as a battle opener. 👍👍
Aurora is a total beast, I agree, but it falls flat in some key situations, which make it b tier IMHO. It would be s tier but it's a really expensive platform to run and for the cost I can field a much more durable ship with large arms. I would rather pay a bit more for an Odyssey, I think it does everything the aurora does and soooo much more. As a player ship I think it's a solid mid game choice but it sucks against stations and it doesn't have enough range to engage battle cruisers effectively. If you wanna run AMBs harbinger is a much better platform, or any phase ship. AMBs are only effective if you can cut the refire time, I only use them with phasers or scarabs.
I think the best ship in the game is the Legion. Not the XIV, just the regular legion. It has 5 med missiles, burn drive, 2 large ballistics, 4 fighters, and 1750 armor. You can armor tank with the burn drive and drop in right on top of weaker opponents. Once you got the skills it's actually really fast and unlike those high tech ships you can just tank a lot of shots.
3 heavy blaster, 3 antimatter blasters integrated targeting unit (built in), aux thrusters (built in), shield conv front, hardened shield, accelerated shield a pet glimmer as my personal PD and 1 PD on all other Auroras in my fleet because in the chaos of a battle, too many of my missiles get shot down :- ) speaking of missiles, since I have the robot ship skill anyway, my Sentry drones flood the battlefield with Salamanders
My only problem with the Aurora, or LP Brawler, or any of your other favorite fast and hard hitting ships is this....I'm a terrible pilot! It's still a great ship but I'm just not very good at getting good mileage out of it. I do much better in the anchor position with something slow and tough that can just sit there and take it on the chin.
Is it just me or does shield conversion front not give the same flux bonus anymore? Really appreciating your videos man, recently got into this game and they have been really helpful. I'm helplessly addicted to it and have to know the secrets to total domination!
The Aurora is good, but it is not a better missileboat than the Gryphon. It doesn't have the autoforge, and it doesn't have the large slot. It's also more expensive to field, you could almost have 3 Gryphons for 2 Auroras. In very large engagements this starts to matter. It's certainly stronger in the hands of a skilled player, but you can't really have it do work without a lieutenant, like you can with a Gryphon.
Problem with gryphon is tgat it is supposed to stay behind the frontlines and just spam missiles but autopilot always leeroys ahead. Otherwise great ship
Not gonna lie, seeing you use Integrated PD AI on a ship whose only small non-missile weapons are antimatter blasters made my eye twitch. Other than that, seems like a great build! *Right, so after watching the rest of the vid and seeing your reasoning for it, I have to ask if you're sure that combo actually works. Judging from the comparative range between the reapers and blasters, I don't think it does. The description states that it greatly increases the accuracy of small ballistic and energy weapons against fighters and missiles, not that it outright changes their weapon-type to 'point defense.'
2.75 minutes is all you need to wipe a good chunk of standard bounty fleets. What matters is being able to engage and disengage at will without getting surrounded.
Point defense weapons are the most op. I can crack an onslaught in seconds using a dozen light machine guns. But point defense requires a ship that can tank. If you look at flux/damage numbers the pd weapons are 80-90 percent more efficient on flux. One of my best builds uses high scatter amps with mining lasers to wreck shields. Your tactics are great for fighting garbage pirate fleets and light patrols or remnants, but how the hell are you going to take out a station with an aurora?
i just got my first aurora, it is being really good piloting it but i will try your build, so far mine has being descent but it could do with a upgrade
How do you switch from combat mode to tactical where you can give orders? And how do you make all your weapons show in the bottom left corner? In my game it isn't there
@@GrumpyThumperGaming I suppose you test a ship before you build mods in. I wonder why don't you build the most expensive ( in this case Safety Override 45 OP ) mod in so you save about 20 OP to use it elsewhere?
have you ever tested your build against a well fitted Notos NS-15000? it's a PD monster with 2 large synergy slots for anti armor dmg and several ballistic slots for kinetic harrasment
Just a note that Manoeuvring Jets does give top speed - Just less than Plasma Jets.
This ship is also in my opinion the best at mounting the few [REALLY REDACTED] weapons you get from the cache.

Love a powerful Cruiser! Looks like it would be great in a Fast Five fleet.
Actually, this is a very similar build to the one from Fast Five. I think the Aurora makes an excellent flagship in that kind of fleet 👍
New microphone, let me know how it sounds!
really nice showcase; clear, detailed and good display. Love this.

Instructions unclear, I safety overrided my Aurora plasma burner and the house burned down.
Send help.
haha, safety not guaranteed 😭😭

Awesome build, if you want to save a little flux an ion cannon replacing the front antimatter blaster would work nicely.
also more emp cuz EMP = I survive longer

I really need to try using a high tech fleet sometimes.
1:53 maneuvering jets give top speed as well, 50 or so
At this time of day? At this time of the year? Can I have it?!

Didnt the ion cannon target the fighters on its own in here?
Cool build if you like micro management. But it's good for 158 sec peak level 😉.
2.75 minutes is all you need to wipe a good chunk of standard bounty fleets.

Very strong. Any non-SO builds of the Aurora that you guys like?
You can run the same ship without S/O. With the spare OP you could easily run PD and more hullmods.

your audio is low compared to other YT videos, I would guess around 20-40%
This is not the first time I've heard this. I'll try raising my gain.
I love the odyssey. I get 2 omens built to just use it’s inbuilt arc and pd and be tanky as shit as guards.

you can press tab to bring up the battlefield map. as far as weapons go that should just be on by default. maybe you have a mod blocking/removing it?
@@GrumpyThumperGaming hmm I'll check. Thank you!
if you could choose 2 hull mods which you build in with a sp, which 2 would you choose for your design?
