Barrie, Ontario, Canada
June 10-11, 2023
Hey everyone! Welcome to the video!
Welcome to the 2023 Barrie Airshow presented by Pratt Homes! The first airshow for me of the season and I was definitely looking forward to it. Its been a few years since the city had a show so it was nice to be back for a little while. For this airshow the performers would stage out of Lake Simcoe Regional (CYLS) and perform over the Kempenfelt Bay waterfront right by downtown Barrie. A few weeks prior it was confirmed that the Canadian Armed Forces SkyHawks, the Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Hornet Tactical Demonstration, the Northern Stars Aerobatic Team and the Canadian Forces Snowbirds would be the four acts that would make up this years show.
The show started at 1300hrs local with opening remarks being delivered half and hour prior. I setup stage just east of show center and watched as the Canadian Armed Forces SkyHakws jumped out of their Royal Canadian Air Force CC-130J Hercules for their O' Canada anthem opener. Brent Handy then took to the skies in his Pitts S-2B Special for a series of aerobatic runs. After a ten minute run, the SkyHawks returned for their second jump and second half of their performance before wrapping things up on the other side of the bay. The Hercules then came by for two passes before returning to the airport.
Enjoy the video and catch you in the next one!
All the best,
Ernest G.

Excellente vidéo complet du début du spectacle aérien! Samedi 16 Septembre je va au spectacle aérien Aero Gatineau-Ottawa! J’ai hâte de revoir les skyhawks! 🪂🪂🇨🇦
Great footage Ernest!
Thanks a lot!
you have to admit to all of those pilots, the concentration in their heads to perform such moves, using their ailerons, rudder, flaps, etc..is just incredible for the acrobatics that is not just for the prop driven planes, but even the jet ones. for me, i am half deaf and would get instant vertigo with all of that going on. cheers to another safe air show! let's keep it this way for a long time to come. thank you sir for this video! see you Ernest in the next one!
Cheers! Honestly it’s always awesome, sometimes we on the ground, fail to realize, the shear amount of coordination these pilots use to execute all these maneuvers in the sky. It is truly breathtaking sometimes, they make it look so easy.
Ernest excellent video work of the careful skills of the paratroopers, the timing and control in their descent is so important for a safe landing. Acrobatics remind me of Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines that old classic movie. The C130 is still holding its own after all these years thumbs up for the transport. What a great show to see the air born fun mate,Ernest have a great weekend and catch you on the next flight. Hope your Dad is doing well.
Thanks Chris! Nice! Yes, the Hercules still lives up to its name and has proven a vital aircraft to the Royal Canadian Air Force over time. Fathers all good, thanks for asking 🤘

Thanks Simon! Ah that would be the RAF right? Heard about that last night. Didn’t know they were going into retirement at all.
