  • Come with me aboard rare ex-Berlin BVG Bussing D2U 1629 for a ride with driver Dennis Braun and conductor Alex Heller on the free service linking Berlin's Technikmuseum and its store depot during the September 2012 open day.
This vehicle is very unusual to British eyes and ears, having an underfloor engine, Voith two-speed transmission, dual-doorway and a full-width cab sealed off from the passengers.

The last of these vehicles had just been withdrawn from line 4 when arrived in Berlin on a three year posting in August 1978, I had just missed them and never saw one all the time I was there. Did not find out their was a museum in Britz Sud, until many years later. Will get back one day.

Sad to hear that the manifold gasket is still leaking on one cylinder.

Most enjoyable; having just returned from eight days in Berlin, it's a joy to find such high quality recordings of what I might have found in regular service, had I visited earlier.

Yes it's quite noticeable both inside and out. It would be nice to hear it without that.
I do love this bus though - so unusual by British eyes and very pleasant to ride and drive.
