Yeah, in America we have an unusual situation. Unlike most places, we feel we are entitled to a level of freedom most do not enjoy. Sadly, there are those who wish to take advantage of those freedoms and do heinous acts with them, but we still choose that freedom. It’s hard to explain to somebody who would trade freedom for being taken care of. I have always seen it as the true definition of freedom. If a government enables its citizens to wield such awesome power, it is a government that loves true freedom. And most importantly, it’s a government who has sufficient respect for its citizens to trust them with such a responsibility. That’s what a government of the people should do. It may be weird to the rest of the world, I fully acknowledge it. But for those of us who see how special it is, it’s everything. The Second Amendment is not about guns at all, it’s about freedom. Freedom from tyranny, freedom from bullies, thugs, and terrorists, and simply an expression of true, unequivocal freedom in general. And yes, that includes the freedom to do awful things, but far more important the responsibility of the overwhelming majority of people to possess that capability, and not abuse it. That’s where so many people get it wrong, they think it’s about guns, but it’s not.

@christopherwilliams5123 they do, that's why he referred us to the NRA website. the CCA and others also publish maps and lists. the information is constantly changing, and the details matter. so you need to check a trustworthy, accurate, and current site EVERY TIME you cross a state line that you are not very familiar with. several of the weapons displayed (all?) could get you arrested in some states.

The bothersome part is just how many states feel that can infringe on our right to protect ourselves while traveling. States like New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut in the east... and pretty much the entire west coast... then there is Illinois... *sigh* It's like the Constitution doesn't exist in these places. =0(

I use the CCW app. I enter the state I have a permit for and a map pops us with every state that honors that permit in one color and those that do not in different color. Makes life much easier traveling. It also has the latest carry laws for each state I believe!

As a retired FF a full time RVr, a firearms instructor and a nationally ranked competitive shooter who shoots 4-6 days a week and an average of 35k rounds a year I found this video EXTREMELY accurate on all points.
Factual content no matter what side of 2A you’re on. I pray (like you) I never need any of my skills but if I do at least I will feel prepared as possible. Side note I got into competition shooting because my wife and son had a near miss abduction in May 2011 I’ve watched your vids for 2.5 years now & never comment but had to in this one keep up the excellent videos, & stay safe.

    Great video,
My wife and I were Full Time RVers for 2 1/2 years. When we downsized from our sticks & bricks to the RV, we had to sell most of our firearm collection, but we kept a few firearms each. We knew we would be going through some unfriendly firearm states, so we had decided to keep our lever action .357 mag. rifles and our .357 mag. revolvers. (along with our lever action .22lr rifles & revolvers). Our thinking was: "If we ever got pulled over, and for some reason they searched our RV, it's a lot easier to explain hunting and target shooting firearms, than it would be to explain why you have a bunch of tactical firearms" in our RV. Retired LEO's don't really have to worry about things like this. They will most likely get a pass if stopped by another LEO. And correct me if I am wrong, but retired LEO's are allowed to carry in every state? So, what might be okay for you, may not be okay for average citizens.
I reload my own ammunition too, so along with the firearms we had in the RV, I also had basic reloading gear with me. (Powder, primers, bullets, cases etc. Along with my dies and Lee hand press)
If you are going to carry a firearm in your RV, it's probably a great idea to subscribe to "Attorneys On Retainer" and or the USCCA. Because if you ever had to use your firearms to defend yourself, you will need legal representation.

Very well done and presented! You basically went through my load out. We are in a van when RVing so need for space is a premium. When not carrying P365 consealed and we’re back in the van for the night, G19 with a weapon light/laser and a 30rd mag in case I have to move fast when groggy but have quick access to , light and laser if I can’t grab my glasses. Wife is also more accurate with the laser (green) on the G19. Sometimes we take the PCC but more often than not have found the 20ga shotgun with folding stock and #3 buckshot is a good low-recoil option for the wife to back me up. Haven’t figured out how to take the AR yet due to the size. Keep up this great content. I’m going to watch the other videos in hopes of getting some info on RV security mindset while camping.

I've been keeping up with your channel. Not many comments. But I love y'all. This video really took me by surprise. So I am a total gun guy. I own some of everything and constantly add to my battery inventory. Don't get to "plink" as much with the cost of ammo. But have enough experience and muscle memory to be pretty much ready to go. Not saying I don't shoot. But it's become more expensive. I'd like to say that you should never drop a slide on a semi auto pistol from the open slide position. without a cartridge feeding. Beats the hell out of the action. It will eventually cause feed or eject issues. I'm a 1911 guy. 9mm doesn't cut it for me. Although I love the SIG P365 in all of it's variants. So my EDCs are 2 depending on the weather and clothing. I have a stainless Springfield Ultra Compact 1911 . It's heavy.. But it's a sweet shooter. I also carry a Taurus .44 special five shot revolver. Easy carry pocket pistol. No hammer spur and ported barrel. I could go on and on. I have rifles in bolt action and carbine in multiple calibers. Multiple ARs and a couple of AKs. And a couple of Mossberg 500s. You won't get down this driveway. While RVing I rely on handguns. But I must admit, I like big bore. Better be careful where you travel. Some states don't like us gun folks. New Jersey and Maryland are two. I'm 65 years old and always well healed. God bless .

Once again, an excellent video! Life is not all rainbows and unicorns, and the fact that you don’t ignore the reality of the world we live in is to be commended.
Yes, for feedback on what goes camping:
Kimber 380 for hot weather hiking. FN 509 tactical is my full-size pistol. Mossberg 500 with a folding stock. And IWI x95 as a rifle.
The bullpup and Mossberg are so nice for close quarters work in the trailer. I used to carry a Smith 9 mm shield for hiking, but I found myself leaving it at home because it was just a little too big for my liking. Small caliber gun on your hip beats a, larger caliber gun you left at home.
Oh and a Bond Arms Snake Slayer derringer in .410 and 45 long colt for real wilderness area hiking. (Surprisingly easy to shoot and quick reload)
I’m not a gun fanatic, and I’m not a prepper, but I do believe in being prepared. 32 years as LEO ends in 212 days and I plan on being around to enjoy my retirement.

    Ex Law Enforcement here too.
You ask what I carry, it depends ; around the homestead and in my wood lot a 16 rd .22 pistol with a .22 rifle on the wheeler sometimes , I'm rarely out and about, but either my old duty gun , a 6906 or in Winter my 1911 in an old school shoulder rig, if out and about where deep concealment is necessary ,even more rare ,a 380 Body guard, LCP , possibly a snubbie .38 spl or something like that. Shotgun & AR never more than ,10-15 feet away inside the house , plus what ever I'm carrying .
My house and land across the river are surrounded by different motion sensors, active cameras, trail cams and drive alarms which I think is a must given where I live . Even though I live way out in the boonies security is still kinda necessary for me. Where I live I have bear, bobcats, fisher cats and coyotes on my land and passing through the yard all the time and the LAST thing I want to run into in the middle of the night when I'm out side taking a wizz, is to come face to face with a bobcat , the mamma bear with here 3 cubs or a pack of yotties ! All of the previous have happened BTW ! That's why I got all that stuff .
Ya I had my brown pants on at the time ,,good thing right ! LOL Welcome to my world where critters are the biggest threat , which even then is minimal at best as long as I know their ,,, there.
I HAVE cleared out all those desperado tin cans lurking around here on the mountain though,,,☝

I have had 3 times in that time that I feel having the firearm prevented severe bodily harm if not death. I never had to remove it from the holster. I just had to make it visible and the threat elected to leave the area. I view a firearm same as a seatbelt. Something I always have but hope I never need.

2nd Amendment is what will save us. We have a right to bear arms and we should. My Dad said to me before he died, get a gun to protect yourself. He fought in WWII and gave away his guns before my older siblings were born. He said times are different now, and that was 4 years ago. Florida thankfully went to concealed carry. I am still on the fence. Even my doctor told me to get a gun especially since we RV. I do know don’t show it unless you are going to use it. It comes down to we can own them legally, but a criminal can always get one illegally. It drives me nuts with these anti gun people. I always tell them give me 5 minutes and I will show you more than a dozen places a criminal can get one or many illegally. They are only kidding themselves about getting guns away from law abiding citizens. Criminals will always get them from somewhere. I could go on and on. I believe everyone should protect themselves. Our right as Americans. Our open border is scary right now.

A lot of open carriers are activists who are working to normalize seeing firearms in public - not to "look cool".. Also, it's easier to work around the farm open carrying, and if you need to run into town, but don't have a cover garment, then you'll be open carrying.

Actually, I'm not sure whether to be more concerned by FBI Director's 10/31 terrorism warning to the Senate of "Americans carrying out their daily lives... that people should be vigilant," or the recent mass murder in a sleepy rural Maine city with a bowling alley that had a sign posted outside warning customer to NOT bring a firearm inside. Very sad that 3 would-be good Samarians being killed when trying to rush the attacker with no more than a knife (terrible odds in a gun fight). In response to the recent apprehension of a "person of interest, the NY Governor's response, "Every single New Yorker has the right to feel safe and be safe" seems more of an optimistic platitude than a real sense of security - yet the Governors in States like NY and CA are accompanied by CCW holders. It's ironic that in Utah where politicians support responsible CCW holders, they can carry in a schools to thwart would-be mass murders thinking they are in a gun-free sanctuary with free reign. Yes, pray for peace but as Issy implies, "When seconds matter, the police are minutes away."

Nice vid. I do carry concealed personally at 70. I prefer Smith and Wesson mainly because Glocks while common are hard to clean while the S&W M&P series of pistols are more maintenance minded. Additionally, S&W is an american made firearm and Glock is made in Germany. I prefer to support American businesses. Lastly, S&W has released a series of hammer fired pistols for those that have trouble racking a slide. Namely the M&P EZ, chambered in .380, 9MM and their new 30 Super Carry. All these pistols are targeted to the demographic of people that would be using RVs! The big draw back of the original M&P EZ line up was magazine capacity, S&W has released a 9mm EZ that has double the magazine capacity called the Equalizer. All of these firearms are considered Micro Compacts. I have both 380 and 9MM EZ pistols and I am seriously replacing my EDC EZ with the EZ Equalizer.

In the RV, it is hollow point only. And no "hot" loads They provide at least a chance the round isn't traveling too far past the walls, (granted a slim chance, but better then no chance.) Shot gun is bird shot. (I debated 00, but they would travel thru several walls before thinking about stopping). A long gun is strictly out of the debate.

Perhaps in your previous videos. But needs to be Stated
Check your State and local Laws!
Take a handgun without a New York pistol permit with your pistol listed on your permit. You will be charged with a mandatory 1 year felony charge. New Jersey is just as bad!!
The list of banned long guns in NY, MD and now Illinois are extensive!
For example a pump shotgun would be legal. But if you have Mossberg Persuader style with just a pistol grip it's illegal!
Also remember the 10 round limits on magazines in many locations.
Alternative long guns are lever actions in both pistol and rifle cartridges.
    Thanks for the good info

So appreciate your video, we do carry handguns in our RV but did not consider our long guns before while traveling. Can you do a video on laws in different states regarding firearms. If there are Castle laws? Worst state to carry vs easier states. What happens in CA if you have loaded weapons in you RV, we asked a lawyer but could not give us much of an answer. We live in AZ. Thanks again.

Well where your from citizens can't carry enough ammo to protect themselves. In New Jersey, it is illegal to possess any magazine that is capable of accepting more than 10 rounds of ammunition for semi-automatic weapons. And good luck getting a concealed carry permit...lol. Most crazies' require 2 to the chest and 1 to the head. That's only 3 crazies per magazine...with perfect shooting! Our forefathers were smarter than us, It's the current leadership that thinks the constitution included magazine limits etc...Great video and thank you for your service.

Excellent video with straight-forward, common sense advice on protection. I thought that the person who suggested an overview on the laws concerning carrying in an RV (or a personal vehicle for that matter) would be great. I know that specifics related to every state is not practical but a general overview that makes us think about questions to research and possibly where to get answers would be helpful. Another thought is to invite someone with a firearms law background to talk a little more detail on liability and financial protection would be good. I am not suggesting going in too deep but rather identify the top considerations and maybe provide some direction on where to research the details. Another good topic to cover is where you store your firearms while on the road. Obviously, you are carrying one handgun at a time but what do you do when you go someplace that does not allow them? How do you secure the AR15 safely with ready access? (high level discussion is preferred - don't show where you personally keep yours for security) Overall, this has been a great series and I greatly appreciate your knowledge sharing.

Excellent and true to the bone video. It's unfortunatey here in America guns do get in the wrong hands so the only way to protect yourself from someone with a gun is have a gun. I have many guns and last year got my CPL and carry now as well. Great video in explaining why good people should own guns and you are correct...... you never hear they actually safe lives on the news. Only when they are used by bad people that want to do harm to others!

Since this is titled "RVing with Guns", my two cents:
    1. You may be traveling through parts of the country that are not as gun friendly as your home state. You need to do the research and know the laws before you leave home.
    2. Once you understand the laws, you have to make the decision: "Does the safety of my loved ones supercede the possibility of my going to jail?" Thats a personal decision that only you can make.
    3. You need to have a plan in the event you have to use a firearm to defend yourself. Who do you call? What do you tell the police? Do you subscribe to one of the various services that provide legal assistance? Everyone in the RV needs to be on the same page on this one.
    4. You have to come to terms with the realization that law enforcement is not your friend. Even if the officer sympathizes with you, that district attorney may not.
    5. Don't call attention to yourself. That snarky tee shirt or bumper sticker may get you the attention that you do not desire. I once read an article about how police in anti-gun states would use things such as an NRA sticker in the back window to find an excuse to pull a motorist over. "Do you have any weapons in the vehicle?" will invariably be asked and they are trained to watch for verbal and non-verbal indicators.
    6. While the collection of guns in this video was impressive, know that some states will put you in jail merely for possession of magazines in excess of ten rounds or in this case, possession of an "assault" style weapon. Also, in the event that you have an encounter, ALL these weapons will probably be confiscated and you may or may not get them back. So, it may not be a good idea to travel with grandpa's heirloom.
    7. Finally, you absolutely have to have safe storage for these weapons. RVs are notoriously easy to burglarize and thieves know all the hiding spots.

My wife and I have now been traveling for 3+ years in our RV. I just purchased my first firearm in 40 years because of what's I've been seeing happening in our country. My question to you is, can I own and travel with firearms in my RV since it is my home? If I'm in a location that doesn't allow this, does having them locked in a safe cover me? Thanks , I really enjoyed your video, and it gives me a reason to purchase more protection. Thanks again...

I appreciate your perspective on RV security. I would wish for another video addressing firearm storage specific to RVs.
Although violence does seem to be getting worse since the lockdown, I always saw the value of being armed. In the country where I grew up every home had a firearm in it. Imagine that a 10 minute response time probably is too slow to protect you. Now imagine that response time could be measured in hours! That’s a reality I grew up with. The home protection gun was probably some kind of hunting gun like a shotgun or deer rifle staged for home protection. Many people would also transport a hunting rifle in the truck too. That’s America. Fast forward 50 years to the present and we have many great firearms to choose from for defense. Better get one of each and take a class.

Unfortunately being in California for as long as I did it wasn't very easy, for the most part I recently built my own AR-15 made it featureless to comply with the state and unfortunately that takes off a lot of the primary functions of having a long gun for defense, for hunting it's fine because you aren't going to be necessarily shot back at by deer... yet >.>
But I am glad I learned as quickly as I did, I've been shooting since I was 6 so all the basic firearm safety rules are just a core memory of mine essentially. For being safe around in public has been harder because again, Cali... but I haven't gotten to build my own handgun yet. I bought a .22LR GSG 1911 from my friend so I can finally get my hands on something more concealable and reliable to have, more reliable than pocket knives anyways. I can't carry a carbine of any kind for obvious reasons... but it's been doing the work and luckily I don't carry it all the time, just when the area feels... more dangerous than usual, per say... but I haven't needed to use it thankfully. As if I did... knowing this communist state I WOULDVE been in jail, while the one who tried to kill me probably would've been having a nice bath and meal right after... friggin tyrants...
But... luckily as of the time of this video I am moving to another state that's relatively not as bad, with that same friend... and lemme tell ya, he's got a god damn ARSENAL. All legal since he grandfathered in all of his stuff before bans and all. So I sure as hell will be feeling safe and most importantly FREE as one can be in the country that's supposed to be "The Land of the Free" XD

Agreed, every American should have an AR rifle to protect their home. I have a fascination with defending my family, so that translates into owning firearms. Take charge of your own safety-look what happened in Israel and other places even here in the US-know how to use firearms and own them.

Great video! Can I add something? I am a bit smaller than MJ (judging by her standing next to Izzy) I am 5' tall. I simply cannot run a 12g shotgun, my arms don't go that far out.. My work-around is a Youth model 20g automatic shotgun, just a suggestion for the smaller people out there. That said, I still can carry and conceal a Glock19 with no problem. I think everyone should own a Glock 19 for the same reasons you gave for the AR. 😀

Great job! This is a super informative and helpful video. What are the best resources for finding out the gun laws when traveling out of your residing state? I have found it hard to find clear and reliable sources with up to date information. Even state sources. Even Government websites use legal jargon and are unclear, especially when dealing with ARs since the media has given it such a bad reputation. You would think that the 2nd amendment would protect us in any state, but that’s not always the case.

It’s funny you said that! I sat at the kitchen table and said to my family that no one would dare attack America 🇺🇸!! Boy I ate those words! After 911 I couldn’t believe how they attacked the United States 🇺🇸! Now with the Alzheimer’s patient in the White House! Anything is possible! It’s like I’m waiting for something to happen again! I’m 68 years old I live in the peoples republic of Philadelphia Pennsylvania!
In my youth I hunted big and small game and now my hunting firearms that I inherited from my father are now my home protection! And never thought of them as weapons for home protection! But here we are!
My wife thinks I’m crazy for having these weapons but for me they are a necessity for the condition we find ourselves in now! The open borders are unbelievable! My dad was a police detective here! I grew up here! This is my home and I’m not going to surrender it to these crazy people! I’m telling you I remember Philadelphia had its problems but it was a beautiful city at one time! The pendulum has to swing back to the way it was sooner or later!
Ps: I’ve been looking on the internet at RV’S but my wife is a little afraid to travel on the road because of all the road rage that’s been happening in the news! It’s nationwide so I’m not going to buy anything right now!

Thanks for this video. I imagine LEOSA may make your life easier when it comes to carrying on the road. I have friends and familiy in several states that ignore the constitution and will not recognize the rights of citizens. It makes it very difficult to legally protect yourself. Hopefully that will change as recent SCOTUS rulings (Bruen) have finally opened up those areas to challenge in court. I think your selection is more or less run of the mill, common / common sense. I'm more of a 1911 guy.

Hello again from the Seattle area, Izzy and MJ ! What a great video, thank you for all the information... Izzy, a couple of questions for you if I may... I have a 9 mm Sig P320 compact, I use hollow points. The only problem is that I have seen plenty of videos and articles online that it can fire in your holster. This has happened to Police Officers also, according to one video I saw. Should I switch to the Glock 19 ? I noticed you have a preference for Glocks. 2. For a Sig, is it a good idea to carry with an empty chamber ? Only takes 1.5 seconds to rack the slide, and is the only " safety feature " available on the Sig. There is no external safety switch, no hammer. and Finally, as an Officer, do you know if there is a Federal Concealed Carry permit that I can apply for that would be valid in all 50 States ? This to me is very strange, but Concealed carry permits from the State of Washington are NOT valid in Oregon or California, damn liberals... LOL
