Another one that got away... a fish puzzle that simulates perpetual motion! However a friend of Tim's made a version of the toy for him.
Spiraculum is a magnet toy, made by Joachim Vallet in Germany back in the 1980s.
A door handle that is actually in the shape of a hand...
Tim does not normally collect teapots - there are just too many! Although he does collect teapots that have an unusual function. There is a teapot that he saw at the Frankfurt Gift Fair that he wishes he had bought, which combines a teapot and a lemon squeezer!
Finally, a 1987 toy that was only marketed for a very short time, and Tim wishes he had bought extra ones! A photoelectric panel drives a sound chip, and you get interesting and unusual effects when you move it around in front of a light source.
Tim, I love your channel so much! You remind me of my grandfather who used to collected oddities and puzzles quite like yourself. He raised me and taught me all manner of things, from penmanship to advanced physics. He is no longer a verbal man and struggles to communicate with me now. Your videos give me great comfort and make me feel like a young child again. I’m filled with wonderment and excitement every time you post. Wonderful work, Sir! I’m extremely grateful!
I feel very sorry for you grandpa's condition, and i hope he get off this awfull situation.
@@raphamazini3841 he clearly wont he is old and everyone of us will suffer the same destiny your words are kind but you just say that to comfort a random person you dont even know sry bro but life Is harder than you think despite that i feel sorry for alex's grandpa and hope he gets off that situation asap
@@xabiberbi4460 lol I will off myself before I get that way. Not to discount that persons suffering, but I have lost a lot of beloved people in ugly ways. I have an exit plan.
@@xabiberbi4460 just hella negative for absolutely no good reason dawg, why?

I need a whole documentary movie about this man! Tim is fascinating
Lets get a gofundme for this
no you dont, what you need is , to boycott mojang and minecraft
Glad to see you still sharing your favorite toys with us. Bless.
Me too🔥🔥
Just when you think Tim couldn't possibly have one more toy in his bag of tricks he puts out another video....and another....and another.....and then keeps making videos for 12 more years 😂. He's a man who loves what he does.
There's a whole lore behind this channel. Like an underground magic scene where these people get together and fashion the strangest devices and buy and sell new ones. They probably have their own currency. Like John Wick.
I can't quite put my finger on when or where, but I do feel like this little device at 7:59 is something I had as a child. The music, especially the parts where it becomes distorted as the light is obstructed in various manners, has a very familiar, almost nostalgic effect to me. I'm sure I've had something similar a very VERY long time ago, from the same manufacturer.
Same here. I really think mine had something to do with the Ninja Turtles, but my childhood is such a blur. 😂 Like you, I definitely remember having one, but couldn't tell you what the song or design was.
I wish I had one of those, I would have annoyed the crap out of my family with this thing 🤣
@@HerrW0lf On that notion, I think the reason why it was discarded, was because I'd keep my toys in a drawer under my bed and as the battery drained on its own, it bypassed the photoelectric cell and started playing- well at least making noises on its own, which would definitely have gotten annoying to have distorted toy music playing during the night, although, it is my understanding that this is very "popular" in various media these days. 🙄
That song also was played a lot in these musical greeting cards that were sold during the 70s and 80s.
Anybody know the name?
This is the coziest show to watch. Reminds me of cozy kid shows from early 90s with the general work (cinematography, pacing, script/dialog) which for me is a huge compliment.
I saw exactly the lemon teapot you mentioned on a yard sale a few weeks ago. Had i known you would like to have one, i would have bought it and sent it to you 😮
I'm a 27 year old engineer from Turkey, but i'm still kid like i was 8. I've only been following you for several years but you're like the grandfather I never had, Tim. Some nights when I can't sleep, I watch your videos to relax. I also had a murmur in my tongue for close to 19 years and I was always looking for this tune but couldn't find it until you said it is 'It's a Small World'. Thank you very very much. Thank you for being with us.
The lemon squeezer on the tea pot looks like a sombrero
I remember getting lots of notifications for Grand Illusions and I haven't seen one since this popped up. I'm glad it did but :(
Hope you keep healthy, Tim. We love you so much❤
man never gets old, he gets younger , he reminds me of my childhood
Live forever trinket man. I love your videos
So I’ve been following Tom for a while now. And what an adversary to never-aging Keanu he makes.
I may not watch every video Tim but you and this channel are a constant and I appreciate the nostalgia!
That lemon squeezer looks like a sombrero when on top of the pot and that alone makes me happy.
I am a simple man.
Awesome is an understatement :)
There was a fashion store in NYC that had a bronze hand on their door. In the winter it wore a fitted leather glove.
"I'm always looking for something a little bit quirky" - Well of that I have no doubt, Tim!
Lovely. I can't believe I've never come across these videos. Fills me with joy to find a like-minded person that enjoys silly inventive toys and trinkets
When I was a child I had one of the spinning magnetic wheel toys like the one in the thumbnail . After a while the pivot in the centre of the wheel lost its magnetism and it wouldn't work anymore. Perhaps the large one that plugs in was to keep the magnetic field from fading and the wheel would always stay on
I’d never heard of the Twizzle before watching this video, but I’ve actually built an escapement device out of LEGO that works on the same principle. It’s called the “Tennessee Timekiller” and can be found in the instructions book for the Klutz LEGO Technic Crazy-Action Contraptions kit.
The one I built only had one bar and one string, and the string was I waxed dental floss with a counterweight of 1x4 plates.
Tim knows electronics, full of surprises
The door hand-le reminds me of when I visited the museum to manga artist Ishinomori Shotarou. They have a bronze cast of his hand, which is considered lucky to shake by the locals, as it was completely unscathed by the 2011 earthquakes.
I always enjoy the trinkets you show us Tim. It reminds me of the stuff that would be scattered around my Grandparents' house. They would travel a lot and pick up little novelties here and there. Wade pottery was the big thing they would collect and sell though. Pots, little houses, ash trays, Red Rose figurines, etc. They had it all well displayed before they sold the house.
What a show tonight. Inspiring me already! Wish they made more of those!
Thank you for keeping making videos… Your content is amazing and I thank you for all these years…
4:54 i actually saw this at one restaurant, on their entrance door
@@topherthe11th23 a story Tim won't tell you about :D
Jeez, that really brings me back! I remember having a photoelectric device very similar to that. For the life of me, I can't remember which tune it played or what the design on it was. May have very well been Ninja Turtle related, like most of my stuff from my childhood 🤣
Good to see you Tim! Thanks again for the wonderful demonstration ;) You've got some good animators as well!
Love the way your friend pippa seems to change her name in the space of 30 seconds 🤣 be happy she made you that, far better than some silly fish!
@@topherthe11th23 yeah I get the same thing because I changed my name too
I love your videos Tim and I have been watching you for 5-6 years I am so happy you haven't retired yet
I remember those as a kid they were so much fun
The teapot had a juicer as a lid? Weird. but it makes sense. I bought my wife an uranium glass juicer yesterday. Very pretty stuff under ultraviolet light.
Uranium glass is beautiful, but if you notice any cracks or chips, toss it immediately. Uranium dust in your food/lungs is a recipe for tragedy.
How do you pronounce uranium?
Lovely video! I've always loved your reviews whenever I've come across them, and I'm glad to see you're still making them
3:21 oh hey I had that toy as a kid.
Broke it in less than a week lol
3:20 Oh I swear I had one of those decades ago! Some interesting toys and things here, I liked that one with the door handle and the teapot lemon lid too! I also love how you can do that thing like a DJ with the music light lol
My version of the hand one had no light, so no battery needed. Fascinated me for ages and made a nice whooshing sound
Love the quirkiness and cleverness in these toys. Thanks for sharing!
I remember my friend had this at his house, it never got boring
HES BACK TO THE BLACK BACKGROUND!!! WOOOOOOOOOOO
The fact that that last toy is from 1987 and still works is amazing!
Weirdly refreshing. And I suddenly feel an urge to drink lemon tea. ;-)
I would do anything to just be able to visit him every Sunday, have a little bit of tea or coffee, and just talk about life experiences😂I’m sure he has amazing stories to tell as well.
I picked up one of those handheld magnetic tops a couple of months ago and I will never regret it.
I always wanted one as a kid, and now I have it.
Love your video Tim. So informative.
i had this thing from the thumbnail as a kid, that triggered massive nostalgia…
What a lovely idea.
In the 30's, they called that an 'uncle spinny dervish'.
Thank you!
I start watching your videos with my childs and as a science teacher I must say your videos are informative and fun and the same time 👏
Great Collection
Perpetual motion simulation is indeed a fascinating field. My dad (a type of fiend) would occasionally set me to the task of building a P. M. machine, using my Meccano set. Once the reciprocating weight/pendulum engine or whatever had been discounted as incapable, he would announce complacently that my task was impossible. The poor chap was insufficiently well educated to include the corollary to the tale (Entropy, the 2nd law of Thermodynamics).. But I enjoyed humouring him, as fiddling with Meccano is great fun. Speaking of fiddling, and on evidence, and with the greatest possible respect, your violin technique could do with an overhaul, Tim.🎶🌟👍
Glad to see these guy still making videos
I have never seen a Twizzle before but that is a remarkably mesmerizing & yet simple action, I kinda want one to just place on the center of a table!
I kinda like this format. Like, I picture something like "Tim the Toy Man's toy news" and its all the cool stuff going on in the toy world. IDK
Very good stuff! love your Channel Tim you do such great work.
One day your house and all your fun toys will be a museum!
this man is the bob ross of trinkets, doodads and thingamajigs
The spining thing is the coolest toy I've seen.
Yes. The spinning thing. 🍷🗿
There are old clocks that use that first toy's action 😊
Where we currently live there is a man who has a ceramic business, and has made teapots that look like elephants :D Also saw a cool channel where the guy had a large metal tea pot, with a tube in the middle to drop some coals into to heat it up :)
Remarkable stuff
Tim’s looking fresh
You should market this channel as an anti-depressant! love it.
LOVE that intro
It's such a shame it's so hard to find these sorts of things.
3:47 I had a bit of a look around and I found the original patent for the powered spinner, it is filed under DE2922648A1 and can be found online, though the original text is German. According to the patent it works by dividing the rail into sections of alternating polarity and having the cables for that inside the tube. It apparently also used alternating current to power the spinner. I didn't have to deep a look at the patent so might have missed something.
"Lisa, get in here! In this house we obey the laws of thermodynamics!"
Me: throws half a lemon inside my mug with a bag of tea
The electric version of the ufo device could have also worked in a much simpler way using the same physics as a railgun. Pushing current through the device with little to no resistance would force it away from the power source and cause a magnetic field to pass through the wheel that could put spin into it if designed properly. This could be done with a very simple design for the spinning wheel and no extra motors needed.
i love this channel
Thanks for sharing man❤️🔥💯
This guy might be primordial. Demi god of some sort.
some of these I played with in my elementary school, I estimate around 7 or 8 years ago..
intellectually stimulating content
How ingenious !
Would be interesting to see that photovoltaic music box being implemented into a business card.
Greeting cards desperately need to be powered by photovoltaic cells, because when their tiny button cell batteries die, they're nearly impossibre to replace.
TIM you are the last English Lad who represents the spirit of Great Britain.
DJ Tim's in the house!
i used to have the toy from the thumbnail! I played with it so much 😂
The UFO one can't possibly have been on mains power, there aren't enough connections, my thought is it was connected only tk high voltage to make some blue sparks or something, but would be very dangerous to touch, and that's why it was never picked up as a real world product
@@topherthe11th23 ah very true, but still shocking!
Bros Illusions and puzzles and stuff like this are like he just straight up bends reality
Love the games here❤
You producers could light this man better
We would love to see the inside of your house and all the quirkiness lol

Mixmaster Tim!
Messeneuheit = fair novelty
Wow!
I watch these for tim
I had one of those “small world” type toys.
DJ Tim! 😊
imagine how nice the world could be if we normalized the spread of puzzle-toys and so forth among young people rather than mobile phones and tablets.. instead of giving toddlers phones and tablets give them some puzzle-toys (and before folk complain, yes you can give a child a phone for security reasons - a phone only requires a means to contact you, it does not need social media access and other apps modern phones do).
The gap between the wires is wider at rage top and bottom. So went it gets to the top half the sinner flips to the other side of the wire, and does exactly the same when it reaches the bottom.
This person could tell me that the sun is made of rubber bands and I would believe him
that twizzle device is amazing
could probably just get those small greeting card song players, then desolder the battery and solder on a pv cell. ezpz
love you tim
i believe that the mechanism of the electric magnet-top is much simpler than you described it. electrical current produces magnetic fields, so i believe that the field of the wire may be sufficient to propel the top. (only a theory of course. im not an expert!)
That first toy is mesmerising how it looks like it will fall off and it catches itself
