an Xfly motor upgrade will make all of you love your stock plane 10x more 107mph was my max on 4s, Im now putting a 70mm inside since it fits with light shaving and running 6s. its an amazing airframe that needs little to make it perfect.
Oh man, I’m going to have to look some more into this! Is it expensive to upgrade to something like that? And is it easy enough for a noob to install? Haha
The XFLY upgrade is night and day difference, low voltage with the stock setup would make you choose an emergency crash site not an emergency landingzone.ive just installed the 70mm out of the f16 and its about the same piece of garbage as the 64mm. the new 64mm they send out now is better than it was but i cant see it hitting the 107mph i was consistent on hitting with the xfly.the only problem i had with it is it needed more openings because it would draw more air than the fuselage allowed. ive got a 3d printable screen for the bottom to allow about 50-70% more airflow than original that i may post to cults3d in the near future if i find it doesnt need tweaks. waiting on the xfly 70 to arrive then ill post more numbers. As for installation of the xfly64 its litterally plug and play. theres a video on youtube of the guy i got the idea from of his f22 hitting 100+ all i did different is upgrade the esc to a 60a which got me 107mph. @@Mach3RC Arrma Vorteks Boost. I did a ton of research and found this one to be perfect. It’s common so the Hobby shops carry parts. And it starts as RWD with a dummy diff insert up front so you can easily convert it to AWD if you want. Also easy to upgrade motor to brushless
I have the older version (3S power), and one of the things I disliked about it when I got it, is that the pilot figure is WAY out of scale. The Freewing 64mm A-10 (and the eFlite 64mm A-10) also have this problem. On the A-10, I did some measurements and calculations, and determined that if the pilot figure was at the same scale as the plane, the pilot would be over 10 feet tall. For my F-22, I 3D printed a pilot figure and replaced the stock one. Freewing does a pretty nice job on the scale details on their planes, but when they finally get to the pilot, it seems they just grab a stock figure that fits in the space, whether it's the same scale or not.
I have this jet as well. If you want flaps you can program the ailerons to deflect down and then they will act as your flaps. You need to separate the ailerons from the y harness and have them in separate channels. I don’t even use the flaps on mine because I bring it in high alpha and you can slow it down that way. Have fun dude!
That’s cool, I didn’t know you could do that! But sounds like I should get out there and practice my high alphas some more, haha! Thanks for watching & commenting! (Hopefully subscribing 😅)
No worries. I just subscribed. Haha. It’s definitely a fun jet, but watch out flying it against a grey sky. That damn thing disappears and increases the pucker factor. Cheers!
If you want to have flaps in this, you can set up flaperons by plugging one aileron servo lead into the flap port, and plug the other one into the aileron port, and set your wing type to flaperon Note: this is the setup for Spektrum receivers and transmitters, so keep that in mind if u don’t use those.
When I was starting with EDFs, I pounded them into the ground a few times as well - just as you did on your "landing" ;) No landing gear on the market, including full metal would survive that. If the landing gear was higher, then the leverage arm is longer and it would break more easily. To compensate that, it would need to be heavier - which would impact performance. You could just have wheels on springs, like on Eflite Habu - which would be both light and super robust, but then it would not look scale.
Great comment, Adam! Thanks for watching & hopefully subscribing. You make some good points. At the end of the day, I can ask for better landing gear, or I could just go get better at landing :)

@Mach3RC You set the plane up where the Airlerons are in a down (flap-ish) position. Then, you put that position on a switch. Switch back between normal postion and flap position.
Welllll.....I definitely could see how a noob wouldnt like this plane. Also, the gear is designed for landing, not slamming.
