Hey seriously thank you for making this video. I had no idea about the web app. Its really great and easy to use. Some really clutch design in that thing. Very grateful to the creator and to you!
Well done Brandon. Your work in explaining how to get the Pacer to interact with Ableton is very informative. I followed your previous tutorials in setting it up manually, it meant that I was able to use it after a long while of it just sitting there. I'm now going to see if I can get to grips with this web app as hopefully it will mean a bit less time spent manually programming. It's a shame that Nectar have really forsaken Ableton users as they seem to have created software for most of the other DAWs.
AMAZING! THANK YOU IT MAKES MORE SENSE NOW @brandon: any idea where I can learn about different MIDI commands and how to use them? CC toggle, trigger, step, note, note toggle, NRPN coarse, NRPN fine, control step. And their relative Data 1, Data 2, and Data 3? What I am doing now is reverse-engineering the preloaded presets and looking at Francois Gregory's website to see how they're setup in the first place.
Thanks for the info. Quick question: Can you take your syx file and use this web app's "load preset" function to download to Pacer all your custom presets all at once?
Hello, just wanted to ask,,, are the CC values programmable with the Nektar Pacer? Lets say for ex. Since i am trying to use the pacer with helix native plugin from line 6,,, changin snapshots there requires CC69 for all snapshots but they differ from their value...snapshot 1 = CC69 value 0, snapshot 2 = CC69 value 1 etc...is this possible? Thnx in advance
Yes you can program the values as well. I use my Pacer with my HX Stomp using those same values. Note though the Pacer can't do the equivalent of a "hold and press" command
HI Brandon, any experience programming a BOSS RC500:( new device) into the Nektar? My Nektar is working with it, but only on setting it came with. I’m trying to get midi cc’s loaded and not taking. I’ll try this website you mention here as that looks awesome and may fix my issues...but if you can do a tutorial on Boss that would be great. thanks
Hey Mark, I don't have a Boss, but I'll see if I can get my hands on one since there are requests. In the mean time, see the exchange with R Anderson below. I think we got him sorted ok. Hi, I'm using a Pacer to control a Boss RC-505. Wondering if there's a way to use the app to set it up as follows: I'd like to have 2 banks.. in the first, set up under A (Track), to have switches 1-5 do one thing - ie. hitting A, then each switch would rec/overdub/play. and then be able to hit B, and have each switch 1-5 do something different (play/stop). Can I program it from the app this way? Seems like maybe only 1 switch at a time..? Am I thinking about this wrong? Thank you for your video, it's helpful, and this seems like a much easier way!
Hey, You can't reassign the functions of the Stomp Switches in Track or Transport modes, unfortunately. This is a bit of pain with the Pacer as it would be nice to assign the Play switch to a code recognized by your RC-505, for example. You will need to do that from a User Preset. You might have the user Preset in A1 programed for some of those functions, and A2 for other functions. That way you can just hit the C and D switches to let you move to those two banks. You could also set up, say, switch 6 to go to A2 (when you're on A1), and to go to A1 (when you're in A2). We can schedule a tutorial if you want some help with that.
@@BrandonShawCleave Ok. So if I'm understanding correctly, I could do what I want - using the C & D switches, to move between to Presets (ex. A1 & A2)? That would be fine. Let me play around some more and see if I can figure that out. I may call you tho :) Thanks very much!
Thank you for all of this - I am struggling with this! When changing control messages what is the difference between Data 1 and Data 2? I really want to learn this thing!
Data 1 will be the MIDI CC#. You can think of this as the channel that the MIDI message will be sent over. If you set the Type to "Toggle," Data 2 is the first message that is sent when you press the stomp switch once, and Data 3 is the message that is sent when you press it again. Sending a message of 127 tells your DAW to turn the effect on, and the Data 3 message of 0 tells it to turn off. If you have your Type set to "Trigger", holding down the footswitch sends your Data 1 message, and letting go sends the Data 3 message.
@@BrandonShawCleave OK - so, I'm closer - but no party yet... Why do I need to hit my foot switch twice for every command? The foot switch is properly connecting to the correct loop track - but I have to hit the foot switch twice for each command>>>???
@@BrandonShawCleave I have just uploaded 3 very brief vids for you to see over at my channel - there's not much there so you will see it... Looking forward to your guidance!
If I click on 'update pacer', nothing happens. I see a message 'writing pacer' on the web but nothing changes on the pacer itself. I work with an usb cable and google chrome.
1. Do you get the 3 blinking dots on the Pacer? That means it's received new information that needs to be saved. If not, then no information has been sent from app. Sometimes I'll go in and change one variable on the app, then change it back, then send the data again if there's a miscommunication. 2. Is the app getting the information from your Pacer ok?
@@BrandonShawCleave it worked suddenly yesterday (because of the firmware update I think) and I have configured my pacer, however... I have some trouble sending signals (midi learning) to different daws with the usb output. 1/2 times it does not reconize the signals if I press a switch. I tried with the midi out port (with a midi to usb interface) and this works always perfect. Is there some config needed? Or maybe something broken?
@@FunSketchMovies Download www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/ (or another MIDI monitor) and be sure that what you're seeing come up on the screen on your Pacer when you press a button is also registering on the monitor. It might be an issue as simple as bad wire or worn out connection on the USB, but a monitor should tell you if the signal is coming through.
@@BrandonShawCleave I tried yesterday and it worked again in the ableton daw so i could see the messages appear when I assigned some keys to my pacer. But it does not work if want to assign keys in a plugin in ableton like mobius looper or msuperlooper... It is a very irregular problem, sometime it works and other times it doesn’t. I tried with the midi output that always used to work and guess what, it suddenly did not work anymore.
I found the problem. The main reason was a wrong configuration of a track and some in and outputs in live and some other things but long story. Thank you for your time

This was so helpful! Thank you. Unfortunately it looks like the github link doesn't work anymore. Any way to share it?
Thanks for tutorial. Much more efficient workflow then doing it manually.
Thank you for this great tutorial. Without a Web-App I would not buy the Pacer.

As you know the manual sucks. Do you do anything with keyboards, and programming patches to work on the unit??
Can you send sysex commands from a button? Like the cc toggle but one sysex command for on and a sysex command for off.

I’ve not tried yet. I backup with SysEx Librarian and dump to my Pacer but I think it should work. Give it a try and let us know!
