I have been doing this recipe for months since it released and have never gone back to store-bought curry since! It’s so so good By the way, I found out that a good substitute for the vegetable juice is to use vegetable broth + 1/4 of an apple, preferably ones on the sweeter side. Grate the apple into the curry when you’re mixing in the ketchup, coffee, and etc., and it will slightly help in thickening the curry more, but also in giving the sweetness that the vegetable juice would have provided. (Oddly enough, I learned this trick from a video game. I got curious about this and tried it out- and it worked really well!)
My this kimono mom, she knows how to cook, knows how to handle kid while cooking, good english, traditionally dressed up in every episodes, and very pretty, she must be a super mom.
I just finished cooking this recipe today, waiting for the curry to thicken. It smells, looks and tastes great. Thank you Edit: I just finished eating and it tastes great. For that extra sweet taste I'd agree with adding some grated apples to the brew. You can also add other root vegetables, I had parsnips in mine (2 parsnips and 2 medium sized carrots, 2 big potatoes and 2 chicken thighs) My family love it too. I used tai curry jasmine rice and it tasted nice. Plain rice would do I think. Depends on your taste. Hope this helps anyone who read it.
If ypu dont want the potatoe peel go to waste you can make a dish called “sobritas”, it´s a common side dish here in Mexico, to make it fry the peel in a pan remove the extra oil, add salt and aromatics. It´s totally simple and delicious. Love you recipe, gonna pay a visit to Asian market soon to get as much ingredients as I can 🙂
I’m genuinely impressed by your pronunciation of Worcestershire sauce, it’s pretty much spot on and better than many native English speakers 🤣 おいしいそう 👍

I wasn't surprised by the coffee at all. Whenever I use japanese curry cubes/mix I can somehow taste/smell a hint of something familiar but I can't figure out what it was. I tried this recipe and it's pretty good. It is my first time eating Japanese curry. I'm used to South Asian curries which are stronger in flavor and have a thinner gravy. I really enjoyed the texture of the thick gravy and the flavor's good too but next time, I'll probably add a lot more heat using black and red pepper plus a bit of vinegar to balance out the sweetness. Oh, curry rice! Thank you!!!! this is one of my favourite Japanese dishes! I will definitely try this no curry sauce version! (I kind of miss you speaking in Japanese, but I understand you want to improve your (already great) English, so this is great practice for you! Keep it up!!)
I make a similar stew but with diced beef, but i certainly will try it with chicken.Love how you expose little Sutan to different food and tastes.
It's fun to look at old videos and remember when Sutan was so little! AWWW.
Thank you Moe. I started following you after Paolo’s from Tokyo video. Your cooking style is great. We love Japanese curry and I always use the mix, but now I will try your recipe because I also have a small baby.
When I am watching this, it reminds of the game Cooking Mama! I like watching Moe cook!
I live in an early modernized city in Japan, and while there's a culture of drinking coffee after a curry meal, I've never heard of putting coffee in the curry itself.
I realized I've been coming back to this video for the past 3 years❤
Your baby always steals the show.... She is the main glamour of your videos 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
I always wanted to try japanese curry but couldn't find the Japanese curry mix by then. And now i just tried the recipe and it was great :)) even at somepoint i thought it would taste just weird from the coffee and the juice. You guys should try it too!
