    Good morning, dear Sewing Friends! Happy spring and happy sewing!

    I make these out of old silk (or cotton-silk blend) sarees. Sometimes, if the fabric is too light, I'll hem the bottom edge with bias tape to weigh it down a little. For some reason, I hadn't thought of making them with a round neckline, so I'm going to change things up and use your technique now! Thank you for the inspiration. :)

    This looks like a great project. I can’t wear synthetic fiber but I can do this with cotton, linen, or wool. You can use that part you tore out to make POCKETS!!

    Thank you, such clear explanations/instructions. And you're so to the point, no waffling for ages till you give the information! Very efficent! I love it. The most useful for me is learning how to mesure and cut the rounded neckline. 🙏🙏🙏

      @@ThoughtfulCreativity Thanks! I don’t sew any side seams in mine, just hem if I’m gifting or not if it’s for me since polarfleece doesn’t ravel. I’ve used these wraps to stay warm not just wearing but as an extra blanket for camping! LOL The last one I made is ankle length and wide enough that I can sit down and put four layers of fabric over my legs.

      What a great idea! I was looking for a practical gift for my mil who has limitations due to a stroke. That would be easier to get on than a coat. We need more accessible type patterns like this for sure.

      @@dawnkifer9712 I hear that! I’ve used all types of adaptive tools since 1987, and doing it whilst in a medieval dress! 😂 But there aren’t a lot of adaptive patterns out there.

    This is a very nice project for woman that like to wear these cover ups. I was given a crochet one that I always forget to wear. I also have a kind of a shawl that would work that I also forget to wear. The fabric feels like a type of wool with beautiful blue stitching that I think came from Iran. It's really beautiful and I always tell myself to wear it but I never do.

    You can also use a small strip of clear elastic ,so you wont rip the fabric . When sewing the elastic to the material do not stretch it. Hope this tip helps.

    I needed this video so much! I was planning to sew a chiffon beach cover-up for my next month's vacation, and when I started my research, all I could find was "don't even think about delicate fabrics when you're a beginner, it's a nightmare to work with and you'll fail miserably." You have brought my courage back! Gotta go order my fabrics now! Thanks! 🥰

    I like the way that you showed how to rip the fabric to get an even front cut without having to open it back up and realign the side seams, marking, etc. (Though I guess you'd have to do that with a heavier fabric), it really makes this easier and is different from other tutorials I've seen.

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  Рік тому +1

      Ah, good thought! yes, with heavier fabrics would need to do it anyway, but then again you could potentially cut it very carefully as is, just making sure you don't cut the layer underneath.

    I use almost the exact same dimensions and make coats from fleece and denim in this style. I also add a hood and pockets. Then I use elastic button loops to close it up. My dimensions are the width of the fabric (60") x 50" wide. I have a very narrow arm span so 25 in on each side is more than enough for me.

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  Рік тому +1

      Interesting thought, Angel! I would not do it with chiffon, because it would probably sag, and also it is way too lightweight and see through, I can see this play out interestingly with medium weight fabric, you would sew all edges right sides together of the both layers and leave a little opening to turn it right side out and then stitch the opening closed. Also, there are double sided fabrics that could be great for this, too :)
