So just like SFV, in SF6 akuma has another wild re-design, but is it all leading to something is my question. Akuma is walking a line between two paths, that of his "ultimate" form Shin Akuma, where he masters the Satsui no Hado, and that of the demonic Oni, where the Satsui no Hado masters him. The boy ain't getting any younger and a lot of his prospects are sorta fading, so lets talk about where his future may lie!
I think that he is in the path to both. In he's SFV ending at the end of it he was smiling at Ryu's question, Akuma told him he would meet him at he's journeys end and showed respect by calling Ryu by he's name. I think that Akuma is yet undecided and at the end of Ryu's character arc he might pul him to the human side.
telling y'all this COULD be akuma's shin transformation becoming permanent with street fighter VI going FULL power in his CURRENT form from HERE on & this new design COULD have stem from the IDEA of m.u.g.e.n's shin akuma lvl.2 with OUT using ANY visual aspects
I always really liked that old art of Akuma selling fruits to a kid because it showed he wasn't just purely a violent maniac, he could at least somewhat socialize. And that concept art of him with the baby got me thinking. Maybe what Akuma really wants and needs is a pupil, which is why he went after Ryu so hard. Perhaps he realizes that as of now, he has nothing to pass on to anyone, and that further fuels him to wallow in rage and push him closer to becoming Oni. All his effort has been for nothing, it really has cost him everything. Anyway I can't wait for him to come out so he can teach me how to Raging Demon the food truck guy.
Also don't forget that him and Elena are homies! They took a selfie together and Akuma was the one holding the camera, like he's got the capacity for good in him.
@@joedatiusI think its more accurate to call bison evil. Akuma still has some sense of morals and can show at least a little bit of respect to certain ppl. He doesnt kill innocents at least.
You forgot to mention in how in Kage's storymode in SF5; Akuma rejects Kage's offer to succumbing to the Hado. Calling him a mindless silhouette and mentioning how he will never understand the concept of reaching Heaven. Akuma specifically mentions "To go from being human, to beyond human, to beyond demon, to reach heaven." And later mentions how true strength can't be derived from the body or from the satsui. I personally believe Akuma's version of "reaching heaven" is ascending to Shin Akuma.
Hence the new kanji he has on his back that means "divine person". Interesting to note that before SFV, that kanji was exclusive to CvS2 Shin Akuma, a form Akuma achieves when a dying Rugal Bernstein pours the remaining Orochi Power into Akuma.
@@takezokimura2571 he scoffs at M.Bison for being a slave to Psycho Power. Also in SFxT, Akuma's ending shows Oni emerging from Pandora to fight Akuma. Akuma calls it "a shadow, raging against that which casts it".
Regardless of what happens with Akuma canonically, that fact that they've said that DLC characters will eventually appear in World Tour mode, and thus Akuma can be one of your mentors, is deeply funny to me. Ryu: Oh hey! It's that kid I taught Hadokens to last year! And they're still out here, fighting on the streets! Good for them! Player character: *casually Raging Demons some fool* Ryu: ... ... what
With SF6's world tour mode theme of "What is strength?", I feel like that could easily set up a plotline where Akuma comes to a crossroads between Shin and Oni and has to ask that question of himself (likely after a cutscene where Ryu and a freakish-looking custom character deliver a tandem Shoryuken on him or something).
That's sorta what I wanna see, him conflicted that the edgelord life just hasn't worked out and Ryu has in a way surpassed the base satsui no hado, and the only option is to either chill out, or sell your soul and double down.
I’d really like to see an Akuma raised child. I can see the kid being well-mannered, respectful, m overly polite, hard-working kid in regular conversations and situations, but when it’s time to fight, he’s a feral, merciless, savage, Berserk fighter. Like, if they truly make it to the next generation.

I got the vibes of “wildman IDGAF Akuma” energy. Like on the path of demon, and his fighting shown to be more beastial, less shoto stance more boneclaw Wolverine stance.
His new design looks INSAAAAANELY cool. Definitely his coolest design, as iconic as the original is. Though, I hope we get a mod to restore the red hair and grey bits we saw in his original leaked design (plus maybe the fur around his waist being a darker brown color) Also, they finally made the lions mane look cool lmao. I still miss Akuma with a baby though...
@@jonasfadi8213 All the other characters are using the default designs that got leaked though. I do think it's possible that maybe Akuma has some kind of instal super that makes his hair go white.
That baby sitter Akuma looked dope as hell. What I'm wondering tho, is why did they started sf5 with a very human Akuma that could unleash a demonic power with the baby. And ended up with a demonic Akuma from the start, that pushes it even more with the V trigger. Total opposites.

I'm really hoping that leaked art is an alternate costume. I do really like the look they showed, but that leaked art looked SO GOOD. I also hope that Oni remains a "what if" he's certainly cool, but I feel Shin Akuma is a more fitting end. He wants to be the best, but his way.
@rooflemonger oh I don't doubt it'll be the classic look. It's too iconic to not come back. But in a perfect world, both the classic and the leaked skin will be in sf6
I don’t think the two forms are mutually exclusive, quite the opposite. Shin Akuma represents Akuma’s fullest power while still retaining control of himself, not fully surrendering himself to the surge of murderous intent. Oni represents the next step past that, becoming one with his murderous intent and fighting solely to kill. The developers referred to Oni as “Akuma beyond Shin Akuma” implying them as two steps on a path rather than two choices. Them making his hair white is a really clever way to show that he’s slowly losing himself to the Satsui no Hado, as Shin Akuma seems to have become his default state.
Shin Akuma, is simply Akuma fighting with full effort. It's not really a state or a form. Only in the crossover games, did they make it out to be a some transformation. (SVC Chaos, CVS2)
Demon Flip is just part of the game. Unfair yes but it’s a necessary evil. I say this as an Akuma player. Personally I hate Cammy’s Hooligan Thing way more.
I'm interested to see where Akuma goes as a character because we did hear him say that he walks the demons path but we also saw a tinge of him respecting Ryu after he defeated him and wanting to see where he goes while also actively rejecting the concept of Kage who is supposed to represent the satsui no hado's evil intent which hints that Akuma is in the middle of humanity and complete killing intent; his design reminds me a lot of his new form that he got after he escaped hell in the comic Akuma vs Hell which is interesting to say the least. I personally would like to see Akuma take on a disciple of his own and train them up in the dark hado while also teaching his twisted sense of honor which could develop into an interesting character that could be a main antagonist or rival to the future and original generation of street fighter.
Good point bringing up his complete disdain for everything Kage represented. That was surprising to me. Aside from Sagat's, Akuma's was the most scathing rebuke.
Its just Akuma putting fighting and training before hygiene. "Do you smell the Dark Hadou~?" Akuma, that stank's not the Dark Hadou, bro. You didn't turn purple with evil, you just haven't bathed in years, man.
Interesting I didn't know that about the baby on Akuma's back thing in SFV. Guess that's how they got the concept for Oro with the turtle. It's gonna be interesting how they balance him because he's the Glass Canon & this game is high damage.
@@rooflemonger Good point. After seeing the insane combos Ryu can get away with in the Demo, given that a good amount of SFV Vtriggers are now Supers or install Supers, it's safe to bet Akuma's Vtrigger 2 install will be in the game allowing for ridiculous combo shenanigans. PTSD activated.🙈

@@STZACRACK666 That's such a stretch, this isn't an original concept. By that logic, Beelzebub was ripping off Lone Wolf And Cub, which was the clearer inspiration for Babysitter Akuma. Maybe look THAT up.
@Mμ sorry your theory is illogical, what in the hell does a guy and his kid being swordsmen have anything to do with a baby being carried on someone's back contributing to the way they fight? Two completely different concepts, yea they all involve adults walking around with kids but that's where the similarities end. For example in lone and cub the kid actually does some fighting and is able to walk on his own, but in BEELZEBUB the baby is always carried on the back and barely contributes to the fight, he's more of like the support for the main character, to where as in CAPCOM also wanted the baby to be on akumas back and being a kind of influential support system for him, in neither of these cases do they have a kid walking around with a sword fighting! Also in BEELZEBUB, the baby is actually a demon and son Of the Devil, and who's the Devil/Demon archetype in Street Fighter? Oh rats right Gouki a.k.a. Akuma. Do your research first kid, u just sound like a thirsty capcom whore who will suck capcoms dick no matter what.
I think Akuma is going to conquer the Satsui No Hado on his own way, just like how Ryu managed to handle his since his "Shin" form is prevailing on his new design. He's already beyond human, but now he's transcending through by showing that a true warrior will never let the darkness consume him. He's the last character of the DLC so they're clearly saving the best for last, and I hope it's worth it!
I need to see him in motion, didn't care for his default in 5 and this is similar but even just the art they've shown looks really cool. Absolutely devastating that we've gotta wait so long to play him. Maybe it is more than him just aging, the white hair thing. Can't wait to see.
Also thanks for reminding me that I just unlocked Shin Akuma in Cvs2. It was hard, stupid and unfair. But I did it. God that man’s movement speed and damage was insane.
@@joshualowe959 Well I’m going to ask you what was your difficulty? Did you use Only a Ratio 4 character? As I used 3 characters. And had like 3-10 frames of input delay as well.

Great video. Akuma has always been a favourite character of mine. He’s the closest to a Darkstalker in a Streetfighter game. I really like his new savage design. The only bad thing is we have to wait to Winter 2024 to play him. He’s definitely the DLC everyone wants.
If Capcom wanted to be smart about it they would release Akuma along with a big expansion & expand more on the SF6 story concept of "What is Strength?". Akuma is someone who could truly expand on that in a meaningful way if done correctly.
I'm really hoping that Akuma learns to mellow out a bit over the course of Street Fighter 6's story so that in Street Fighter 7, he can finally carry around a kid. I really want babysitter Akuma
yeah it would be great for him, i think akuma can become stronger but surrendering his humanity isn't the way. if he wants to become the best i think it would be noticed if he had a pupil to train so that pupil is better than him.
i met Akuma in Tekken 7 and honestly became one of my most favourite characters ever. the deeper i understood the character, more it grew up for me. tbh, i would like the idea of him having eventually a disciple; despite his flaws and fighting to death worthy opponents desire, he has some codes and it's not a stray bullet, also the sf5 kage and akuma's endings show his development as a character in contrast to his previous forms ( i know about those arts with him as a fruit vendor, pretty chill tbh.
I think the main sticking point against Akuma going towards Oni instead of Shin Akuma is simply that given the kinda feel of the game and its goals I think they are moving away from the over the top end of the world story stuff for SF6. The game as we know it is all about the martial arts aspect of wanting to be the best fighter and not so much about stuff like SFV with giant evil moons and how we were the real Street Fighter V all along. I mean think about it. Akuma retaining his humanity and simply being the epitome of strength who will be there to challenge you to see if you are worthy is alot more fitting for a game like SF6 rather then the big monster man who exists to be come more of a dragon ball villain. I mean even JP acts less like a super hero villain like Bison and instead more like an evil politician or nobleman man running things in the shadows
Oni in SF4 is way too cool to play to never see him again, his gameplay is somehow close to Evil Ryu/Gouki himself but still play like it's own character, Wao Oni was amazing to watch
It's interesting and refreshing for Capcom to finally just let the cast age a bit. It allows the stories of the characters to progress, it's part of real life, the SF audience themselves have become more mature and are ready to relate to older characters, and having a cast member over 30 who is a capable fighter is *very far* from the greatest stretch from reality in the SF setting anyway. Of course Akuma would go gray. Why not? That's just something that would happen to his human body. He gets his actual power from giving up his humanity and being a demon (or whatever, lol).
It'd be cool to see Ryu be the one guide Akuma away from the path to Oni. Akuma may not realize that he is now facing his own internal struggle and is actually straying off the path to truly mastering the Satsui no Hado. After all these years of trying to corrupt Ryu, it's now Ryu's turn to guide Akuma away from his own self destruction.
I was always so curious about the version of Gouki holding the baby, weirdly enough it fit his character and seemed so unique. Maybe as he gets even older we explore that.

@LiquidxC it's plagiarism my boy, they've done nothing different but switch the characters around, and I'm not really tied to the anime like that, shit I'm all for akuma I'm rooting for him even, but it upsets me to see that they can't really do anything new with him but use recycled concepts, like common capcom our boy deserves better than that you feel me?

@@STZACRACK666 with your logic, Beelzebub plagiarized from Lone Wolf and Cub and by going with your logic, Beelzebub is plain lazy. Your explanation of the anime, Beelzebub, is also drastically wrong. It's not about some dude who fights with a baby on his back just to test his strength, that's not what it's even about. It's about a student who is forced to take care of the Demon Lord's son.
At first glance I'd say "a bear", but more seriously it does seem like Capcom is continuing the thread from V where Akuma told Ryu they would have a final decisive match once Ryu had truly become a master of his art. Remains to be seen if 6 is canonically going to be that fated time, but Akuma's new design does seem to play on the feeling that he's stepping dangerously close to Oni mania.
@@notimeforcreativenamesjust3034 My guess is that he'll find a sweet spot between the two. The mastery and lucidity of the Shin state and the power of the Oni form without the massive drawbacks that comes with.
The pose in the key art is giving blanka vibes, so maybe that coupled with the usually shin akuma white hair means he's become more feral / unhinged. Super stoked to see how they handle him. 😄

If it does end up being a case of Akuma's more evolved forms appearing (oni or shin akuma), it would be dope if they can have either one of the two evolved forms be secret bosses to unlock depending on the arcade mode settings and how you play the arcade mode, and then have them be unlockable characters for local or casual play only
Akuma is on his way to becoming Oni I believe. I always quote Rose's SF IV win quote against him: "Why... I never expected you to appear now..." and her status as a fortune-teller being able to see the future... tell me that she is aware that Akuma will eventually become Oni. SFV doubled down on this by having Akuma outright state that he is on the path of the demon, and should he throw away his humanity at the end of it, then he will allow it to happen.
He has the white hair, which is his standard design for being shin akuma. He must have completely mastered the satsui no hadou, and is now in the process of either mastering oni or being possessed by it.
Love the concept of Akuma taking care of the small baby during battle. Very similar to lone wolf and cub. But I'd love to know how he finds a baby, how it makes Akuma becaming more human than ever
It's shin akuma. Akuma whole thing is perfecting his martial arts he's not just aiming to be the strongest he's aiming to be his strongest. Shin akuma is the more likely outcome looking at how they introduced him in his Character teaser. This is him mastering his art after countless battles and crossovers this is PEAK akuma this is SHIN
IMO, I'm hoping they do Shin Akuma or any other path that involves Akuma retaining his humanity. He's a very cool character, and his Shin Ver. evolves it. He's still a bloodthirsty warrior, but maintains his own dark brand of honor, and that trait of him shows glimpses of humanity still. Akuma's a jackass, but he's never been about ruling the world or control like Bison. He's definitely an antagonist but in the grand scheme of things he's merely another challenger among many looking for someone to give him a good fight. Having him go down the path of Oni only strips away his character for a cool transformation as he becomes more of a force of nature than the person that he is. SF6 has been doing very well with how they've been showing where everyone is now, so I hope they'll stray away from that when it's Akuma's turn. I love this guy, and his story of keeping his sense of self and mastering his darkness should continue.
Yes. I like Oni as a what if/alternative future. But Akuma's CONTROL of the dark hadou and his moral code are what make him my favorite character. He's a person who has MASTERED and TAMED darkness. "Gou-Ki" literally translates as "Strong-Spirit/Strong-Will". Akuma despises PURE evil beings like Bison also.
I've never been a fan of the new Akuma The Cowardly Lion look he has, but as long as he still plays great with some cool new moves sprinkled in, it'll be awesome
I think either way Capcom needs to move this character forward because of how awesome and popular he is. I personally prefer shin akuma over oni and would like to see Akuma as more of an anti-hero, kind of like how he was portrayed in Tekken 7 but that's just me
@@rooflemonger He might go paths simultaneously, but I assume he will stay human, more veteran like Oro. Ryu has defeated Evil Ryu and Kage. So Akuma might have defeated Oni and Shin Akuma existed through the power of Rugal. Akuma must be himself, but older.
Personally I think the path of the demon is a red herring. Akuma's wild hair turning white is not only a sign of his age, but also closer to Shin Akuma in terms of design he's ever been officially. His path in SFV building up Oni and Demon Akuma I think will go to a point but at some point in the story of 6 I believe something in Akuma will change, maybe that baby or child protogé comes into play somehow and he finally overcomes that "bad guy" barrier he's been dealt and is allowed to get stronger at the cost of becoming more of an anti-hero.
I'm not as super hype to see Akuma back but it will be interesting to see how he plays and his what's his story is about. I can't imagine that after what has been 2 decades of him being in Street Fighter he doesn't have much time left even for a him so he would eventually take up a student maybe. Afterall I doubt he'll be around for another 3 more games of Street Fighter along with some of the cast right!?
I really don't care where they go with Akuma at this point. He could either master the Satsui no Hado, in which case he becomes Shin Akuma, or it could take over him, in which case he becomes Oni. What I'm interested in seeing is what Akuma would be like as a Master in the World Tour mode.
This character is not evil as a martial artist. He seeks for the strongest opponents when he defeated his teacher in full combat, the teacher smiled because he surpass his teacher, in the real world you don’t have to go and kill your teacher, but if you study the most words you’re supposed to surpass, each generation has to become stronger but I love the video. Thank you.
Just the idea of a Disciple of Akuma is scary. We could have the narrative flip, where Ryu is the one trying to convert the disciple. Also Red hair with greyed striped lions mane reminds me of a lion pokemon.
I friggin love oni, I wish so much for him to return in one form or another at least partially or maybe even just give akuma his u2 that would be sick af too!
I always thought of SFV as a turning point for Akuma. You’re definitely right that he starts out on the path of the true demon, but I find it interesting that when he encountered Kage, he held him and his empty destructive impulses in absolute contempt. Like the rest of us, Akuma thinks Kage is an absolute weeny. I think seeing that personal parallel would inspire Akuma to master the Satsui no Hado without being controlled by it, and set him on the path to becoming Shin Akuma, the living god of war. I also notice some white on Akuma’s outfit, drawing parallels to Ryu and expressing a character with a more balanced (though still fundamentally twisted) outlook.
If it was up to me, I would definitely choose Akuma remaining human. 1. The payoff of losing control of the Satsui No Hado has never successfully been cool in Street Fighter IMO. Oni and Kage are kinda just chumps 2. I think it fits Akuma's story better to have him also beat the Satsui No Hado in order to keep up with Ryu. Ryu conquered and moved past it, but Akuma figured out a way to _dominate_ it, becoming more demon than Oni alone could be. Akuma doing such an impossible feat of strength, while _missing the point_ as to why the Satsui No Hado is an evil technique and the wrong path to walk down, moves his story forward better
Maybe not a baby, but I think it's time for Akuma to find a pupil of some sort, now that Ryu is hella over him. That pupil could be the catalyst that helps him stay away from Oni and go towards Shin Akuma or, if something where to happen to the pupil, the trigger that pushes Akuma over the edge into full Oni.
really hope it will go into shin route instead of oni. Oni is the most boring way a character can develop into. Akuma mastering his power instead of getting controlled by it is just so much more badass. Keeping his morals and perfecting his craft fits him so much more than losing controll over it.
I don't think it is simply a matter of Father Time catching up to Akuma with the new design. Too little time has passed between SFV and SF6. Rather, it is most likely a hint at the next stage of Akuma's evolution as a fighter. Hopefully, at the end of it, he manages to transcend his humanity. But retain his will. No votes for Team Oni😂
Minor thing from an Australian worth correcting: the official name for the big Australian rock Akuma smashed is actually now Uluru, the traditional indigenous name for it rather than the first white guy that found it. I always find it a little strange whenever I hear 'Ayer's Rock', because in Australia we've been calling it Uluru for a WHILE, so you hear it very rarely here!
My theory is, is that Akins’s trying to find a balance between Shin Akuma and Oni Akuma to finally reach the peak in his power, that’s why he looks the way he does.
Regardless of what they do 1. I hope his moveset is big n free, as in any jump arc air fireball, full screen fireballs, maybe some air supers, but with bad range (tho maybe hed be OP cuz everyone got the same HP) 2. His character does something new, maybe getting close to heaven or something 3. His training arc is funny....and have a cool raging demon
I think Oni is the satsui no hado possessing Akuma's body, whether it be KO or death... in my mind Akuma has achieved so much on the "evil side" the "demon" chose his body as its vessel
im sad it's gonna take so long for akuma to come out, but it's always the coolest characters that are the last ones in a season, same happened with urien, just hope i don't lose interest with 6 by the time akuma comes out like i did when urien came out in 5.
Love fhis new design! Even tho i prefer the red hair with the white strings but still he looks like a savage. Cant wait to see him in action...in one year...FML 🥲
The design definitely pulls a lot from previous shin akuma designs. I think the hue of his skin and hair are too spot on to be a coincidence. Doesnt necessarily mean he's not on the path to becoming Oni though. Wholesome baby daddy akuma sounds freaking adorable but i think in the end they didnt want to soften his edge which i get.
So just like SFV, in SF6 akuma has another wild re-design, but is it all leading to something is my question. Interesting to note that before SFV, that kanji was exclusive to CvS2 Shin Akuma, a form Akuma achieves when a dying Rugal Bernstein pours the remaining Orochi Power into Akuma.

@@pinetapple2961 that'd be kinda sick ngl
No matter where Akuma ends up I know im gonna spike my controller after some dumb demon flip guessing game in SF6 so he's already a demon to me.
Wait, so you mean Smash Brothers and Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments are filled with Dark Hadou masters?
Interesting I didn't know that about the baby on Akuma's back thing in SFV. Guess that's how they got the concept for Oro with the turtle. It's gonna be interesting how they balance him because he's the Glass Canon & this game is high damage.
Well that's the thing, no more glass cannon cause everyone shares the same health now in SF6. So balance gotta change somewhere else.
@@rooflemonger Maybe he takes extra punish counter damage? That would still result in the same balancing result for him.

@Mμ sorry your theory is illogical,
what in the hell does a guy and his kid being swordsmen have anything to do with a baby being carried on someone's back contributing to the way they fight?

I am really looking forward for SF6 Akuma, he's the reason why i started playing fighting games, i hope they make him good
If Capcom wanted to be smart about it they would release Akuma along with a big expansion & expand more on the SF6 story concept of "What is Strength?". Akuma is someone who could truly expand on that in a meaningful way if done correctly.
I'm really hoping that Akuma learns to mellow out a bit over the course of Street Fighter 6's story so that in Street Fighter 7, he can finally carry around a kid. I really want babysitter Akuma
Who would wanna bang him bro
After all this time, he would join the list of people who followed Guile's advice and became Family men. 😄
yeah it would be great for him, i think akuma can become stronger but surrendering his humanity isn't the way. if he wants to become the best i think it would be noticed if he had a pupil to train so that pupil is better than him.
ONLY if the kiddo turned out to be kairi.....

i met Akuma in Tekken 7 and honestly became one of my most favourite characters ever. the deeper i understood the character, more it grew up for me. tbh, i would like the idea of him having eventually a disciple; despite his flaws and fighting to death worthy opponents desire, he has some codes and it's not a stray bullet, also the sf5 kage and akuma's endings show his development as a character in contrast to his previous forms ( i know about those arts with him as a fruit vendor, pretty chill tbh.
I really hope he will become Oni one day. Such a cool character
SF 6's Akuma redesign is what a father who's been told that his daughter was pregnant out of wedlock looked like.
Lmao facts😂😂😂😂😂
Akuma redemption arc would be interesting but I'd hate for him to end up like Sagat, who's not as relevant as he once was

At first glance I'd say "a bear", but more seriously it does seem like Capcom is continuing the thread from V where Akuma told Ryu they would have a final decisive match once Ryu had truly become a master of his art. Remains to be seen if 6 is canonically going to be that fated time, but Akuma's new design does seem to play on the feeling that he's stepping dangerously close to Oni mania.

that would actually be pretty fun, love that!
The baby on the back concept for Gouki is very cool. Kinda disappointed it didn't happen.
He has the white hair, which is his standard design for being shin akuma. He must have completely mastered the satsui no hadou, and is now in the process of either mastering oni or being possessed by it.

The way i understand it is that Shin Akuma is how others see him and Oni Akuma is how he sees himself.

I hope they’ll also be adding these dlc characters in the World Tour, I would love to see what you do to be enrolled to Akuma.
seeing spring 2024 made me cry
It's shin akuma. Akuma whole thing is perfecting his martial arts he's not just aiming to be the strongest he's aiming to be his strongest. Shin akuma is the more likely outcome looking at how they introduced him in his Character teaser. This is him mastering his art after countless battles and crossovers this is PEAK akuma this is SHIN
Yes
Akuma sounds like a better Goku, one that actually stays and raises his child while becoming the strongest .
I want whatever skin care products Akuma uses. Him and Gouken are straight up old but Akuma managed to stay looking 45-50ish for most of his life.
He is slowly becoming a real demon
Oni is a glimpse of his future
He's gonna move to Canada and become the ancestor of the Sasquach. Dark Stalkers 4 confirmed.
Truthfully i would prefer Ryu took the same path that Jin did where Ryu would learn how to control his inner darkness just like jin done in Tekken 8.
I've never been a fan of the new Akuma The Cowardly Lion look he has, but as long as he still plays great with some cool new moves sprinkled in, it'll be awesome
I think either way Capcom needs to move this character forward because of how awesome and popular he is. I personally prefer shin akuma over oni and would like to see Akuma as more of an anti-hero, kind of like how he was portrayed in Tekken 7 but that's just me
In my opinion Gouki/Akuma has aged and has mastered some more of his style that's all.
certainly getting older, but if its just same old akuma directly from SFV, that means he's going down the path of Oni
Dealing with THE Mishimas has given Akuma "enlightenment"
Personally I think the path of the demon is a red herring. Akuma's wild hair turning white is not only a sign of his age, but also closer to Shin Akuma in terms of design he's ever been officially. His path in SFV building up Oni and Demon Akuma I think will go to a point but at some point in the story of 6 I believe something in Akuma will change, maybe that baby or child protogé comes into play somehow and he finally overcomes that "bad guy" barrier he's been dealt and is allowed to get stronger at the cost of becoming more of an anti-hero.
not only did he train with Gouken, don't forget that he is also Gouken's brother lol
He's becoming the best version of himself, guys. He's living his best life.
Mained Oni at the end of sf4. Clunky to play but sooooo badass
I just want Ryu and Akuma to do the ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN
Yeah that second ultra was excellent
I always thought of SFV as a turning point for Akuma. You’re definitely right that he starts out on the path of the true demon, but I find it interesting that when he encountered Kage, he held him and his empty destructive impulses in absolute contempt. Like the rest of us, Akuma thinks Kage is an absolute weeny. I think seeing that personal parallel would inspire Akuma to master the Satsui no Hado without being controlled by it, and set him on the path to becoming Shin Akuma, the living god of war. I also notice some white on Akuma’s outfit, drawing parallels to Ryu and expressing a character with a more balanced (though still fundamentally twisted) outlook.
looks like he’s becoming a demigod like Urien, Oro, and Gill
I love Akuma's new design. I feel the same way about Evil Ryu and his change to Kage. Both designs simply look like real mythical Oni.
If it was up to me, I would definitely choose Akuma remaining human.
1. The payoff of losing control of the Satsui No Hado has never successfully been cool in Street Fighter IMO. Oni and Kage are kinda just chumps
2. I think it fits Akuma's story better to have him also beat the Satsui No Hado in order to keep up with Ryu. Ryu conquered and moved past it, but Akuma figured out a way to _dominate_ it, becoming more demon than Oni alone could be. Akuma doing such an impossible feat of strength, while _missing the point_ as to why the Satsui No Hado is an evil technique and the wrong path to walk down, moves his story forward better
and we gotta wait a fuckin year for him :(
We have waited this long for SF6 itself, waiting a year for Akuma after that will be like waiting 2 weeks
I imaginehe fnally passes from old age, but just when you think it's over his spirit still wants to fight, so he comes back as Oni.
would've killed for baby carrying akuma what the hell
I want Oni back only so I can hear " *MY POWER, MOVES WORLDS!!!* "
"a lot of street fighter fans are getting old too"
i'm not old, i'm vintage
really hope it will go into shin route instead of oni. Oni is the most boring way a character can develop into. Akuma mastering his power instead of getting controlled by it is just so much more badass. Keeping his morals and perfecting his craft fits him so much more than losing controll over it.
The shin route would make sense as I could see Akuma spying on Ryu amazed and jealous of how he learned the power of nothingness and mastered it.
Since health is the same among all fighters, I wonder if they're gonna make Akuma bigger to compensate
Well. Now i just feel robbed we never got babysitter-Akuma in SFV, just think of the adventures those two would be going on...
He’s a lot older than 60. I saw a video saying Ken was born Feb. 14, 1965. I assume he’s at least 15-20 years older than Ken!
I'm not joking when I say I'd be hype for that gorilla.
Maybe he just ran out of money for his 'Just for men' hair dye?

I always find it a little strange whenever I hear 'Ayer's Rock', because in Australia we've been calling it Uluru for a WHILE, so you hear it very rarely here!
My theory is, is that Akins’s trying to find a balance between Shin Akuma and Oni Akuma to finally reach the peak in his power, that’s why he looks the way he does.
Regardless of what they do
1. I hope his moveset is big n free, as in any jump arc air fireball, full screen fireballs, maybe some air supers, but with bad range (tho maybe hed be OP cuz everyone got the same HP)
2. His character does something new, maybe getting close to heaven or something
3. His training arc is funny....and have a cool raging demon
So happy to see Rashid and Ed back Akuma looks freaking SICK! A.K.I reminds me of Eleven
Akumas beard is giving me Gouken vibes
I dont know why but hearing you say "this is one hell of a gorilla" made my day
The design definitely pulls a lot from previous shin akuma designs. I think the hue of his skin and hair are too spot on to be a coincidence. Doesnt necessarily mean he's not on the path to becoming Oni though.
Wholesome baby daddy akuma sounds freaking adorable but i think in the end they didnt want to soften his edge which i get.
Sigh… god damn it Rooflemonger I don’t play Ed so I didn’t even know about that gorilla and now thanks to you I genuinely want it as DLC
Everyone wants the Psycho Power Gorilla as DLC. Its what the fans demand!!!
