    Did you ever hear the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise?
    I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life.... He had such a knowledge of the Dark side, he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful....the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did .Infortunnately , he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.

    I love how Tenebrous, Plagueis, and Sidius were hiding in plain sight and even interacted with Jedi. Growing up with The Emperor ruling, I'm so used to Sith having power and being so formal. Always being called "Your Highness" and Vader always kneeling to his master. When before all that, they seemed almost equal.

      Yes the last few members of the order of the Sith Lords really were the phantom menace. Hiding in plain sight right under the noses of the Jedi and they still never suspected or knew the truth until it was too late. The dark side blinded them

  • @mikeor-
    @mikeor- 5 років тому +83

    Plagueis succeeded in his experiment, because just nine months after he "failed," a slave named Shmi Skywalker gave birth to a fatherless son named Anakin. Anakin was conceived by the midi-chlorians, which Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious used to create a being out of pure Force energy. So in a way, Plagueis himself was Anakin's father. There is no other reason to explain how Palpatine turned him into Darth Vader so easily. Yet one of the wisest lessons taught by the Skywalker Saga is that nobody is truly beyond redemption. Anakin redeemed himself by destroying the Sith (twice), and fulfilling the prophecy of the Chosen One.

    • @Camaraocompao

    • @Nihoolious
      @Nihoolious 8 місяців тому +1

      Plagueis didnt succeed. The wording of "counterstrike" is chosen specifically because it was the efforts of the force itself that brought Anakin into being. It took the Sith's attempt to create life and redirected it into its own Chosen One with a predetermined destiny leading to the eventual destruction of the Sith order.

    • @WhydoIsuddenlyhaveahandle
      @WhydoIsuddenlyhaveahandle 7 місяців тому

      Just Plageuis. Sidious helped with the balance tip but the act of creating Anakin, where the "force gave way, as if in flight from him" was all Plageuis. Right from the novel

    Been wanting to read this one for a while to get myself back into reading in general with a familiar source material I love, just finished it last night and was amazed how much it held my attention. So much detail that pertains to the EU and has you reevaluate our opinion on TPM when you see the gears in motion. Of course, Plagueis and Palpatine prove to be enticing protagonists that come off more as anti-heroes as you see their mastery in deception and using any means necessary to achieve their plan. Must read for any Star Wars fan and arguably Top 5 EU/Legends novel.

    Great video, awesome explanations! However, Palpatine's first name in the Legends continuity is not "Sheev"; he just doesn't have a forename there. I don't remember the exact reasons behind this, but it is explained in the book "Darth Plagueis" by James Luceno.

    • @ruminantplaythroughs

      @Lockjaw I guess I'm not wrong. Look it up on Wookieepedia: _"Disgusted by his father's incompetence, and infuriated by his mother's willingness to tolerate the situation of their family, it was not long before Palpatine discontinued the use of his given name as an act of spite. From then on, he demanded to be referred to exclusively by the name of his aristocratic family."_
      It *is* explained like this in the Novel "Darth Plagueis" by James Luceno, though it is not canon anymore, but "Legends".

    I really look forward to Snoke one day having his own video... so we may lean of this fascinating character in all his fleshed out details... who totally wasn't just tossed aside because there was no plan for him or the new trilogy and a certain director decided to just kill any of the plots his predecessor started in Force Awakens because "yolo! I've got a theme and it's KILL everything that's old! So no JJ I'm not using the outline you wrote, any of it, even though you started this trilogy and will be directing the 9th movie. Just consider yourself lucky I didn't have the Knights of Ren in this movie to, because I would have killed them off to(something Rian himself literally said about the KoR because he didn't know what HE would do with them)."

    I want to thank you for making such a thorough and compelling video based on James Luceno’s novel. I hope Luceno gets the commission to write a Snoke novel. Andy Serkis said the character is several hundred years old. In the Force Awakens novelization, Snoke says he watched the Empire rise and fall. Based on how ancient he is and his ability to maneuver himself to become Supreme Leader of the First Order, I see the potential for a novel on the level and scope of Darth Plagueis. I’m looking forward to the Snoke comic coming in mid-September. Hopefully that will give some more insight into the character. I think he might be a Grysk. What do you think?

      The idea that Snoke is hundreds of years old seems to be disregarded with the release of Episode IX.

    The sad truth of the Sith, is their downfall is caused by their arrogance. Plagueis could have possibly lived if he wasn't so into himself being powerful. Maul would have stayed in one piece of he didn't play with his Jedi and finish the job. Palpatine needs to stop using lightning, he hurts himself or gets chucked into a reactor.

    Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?
    I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. It's ironic he could save others from death, but not himself.

    I don't like that he lived in 67 BBY. It hardly makes him a "Sith legend" as Palpatine says in RotS. He lived 40-20 years earlier. It would be cooler if he was more ancient but then Palpatine could not be his apprentice
