MW 7 your ancestors sold you willingly, be mad about that. Tribes would fight and the loosing side would be taken as slaves and sold for trading items. The europeans didnt abducte anybody, and the slave trade still exist in Afrika.

Europeans DID abduct. They didn't just go to Africa, they went to other countries as well and pretty much destroyed Haiti. Secondly, with White men on boats with guns and higher technology coming upon your land, you really think saying 'No' to these people is a good idea? Look up the rubber farms that Belgium started. The Europeans were already acting as a plague in their country. Africa didn't understand the contracts that written, and if the Africans didn't produce x labor, their limbs were cut off. The Europeans clearly came with bad intent. Africa probably had no choice to cooperate. And even if the slaves were sold by their own, the Europeans surely had every opportunity to turn slave trade down. They didn't. Thus started the terrible history and brutality of slavery that probably ever existed. So, yeah, Africa gave the slaves away, but the Europeans had done 20x times worse. Whippings, rape, locking them up in basements in the dark, throwing babies to crocodiles, humiliating men in front of their wives, selling their kids away, castration, working them to death in the fields until their very muscles detached, etc. etc. There's a lot the watered-down history books don't tell you.

Speaking as an almost 60yo white woman from Australia, I have to say I have always LOVED the natural hair styles of black people. Your natural hair is beautiful and you should wear it proudly. It's shameful that you should be made to feel that you have to wear it like white people not just by white people but by black people too. I never realized until watching these videos just how fragile your hair really is and to risk damaging it or poisoning your bodies with chemicals is just not worth it. You are black, you are beautiful...be proud of who you are and don't let others dictate to you the type of mould you should fit into.

I was in college and needed a part time job. So I covered my hair, but after a while I quit because I felt so ugly and bad myself.

Jesus will Judge only if you are lazy and don’t know how to take care of it. It’s the strongest, thickest, voluminous hair. Period.
The problem is too many black women don’t care for their hair due to the teaching of their parents who grew up with the slavery mindset forced on them too. Plus today, white oriole want to act threatened by locs and fros and so a lot of blacks don’t want to deal with that. I personally refuse to appease anyone, especially racist white people that are insecure. I wore my hair down to my butt, thick and natural and white people would get mad when they found out it was all mine.

Thank you sister for your video... I wanted to say, what my grandmother taught us. She said " they wore scarves on their heads to prevent, the outrageous behavior of the women, not of hue". They would have their hair cut off, with the cruelest method possible. Braids, were a sign of respect and culture for us, but for others, a sign of arrogance. Thus, the need to keep our hair covered was the norm. Not to mention, working out in the dust and weeds, and not having the ability to wash it as needed. Along, with the reason you have cited in your video. My grandma, had hair that laid down. She, always complained that it was the reminder of who, blood had mingle in hers. She would keep it covered at all time. Our hair, more coarse and curly, she said, was how, her mother hair was... It's almost comical the way, some people call every one else hair good, but their own. And then, there are those with straight hair wishing for the the super curly. My grandmother, was ashamed of her hair... I hate that, because, she left this world ashamed of having straight hair... I am proud of me... I see, my hair, as extension of the Universal, with its spiraling. So, whether, straight, curly, or spiraling,,, I am proud of the women of Hue, no matter, who you are and where. Much respect and peace

Black Women are Beautiful! I really wish we could see this for ourselves and really BELIEVE IT! I'm not condemning anyone for wearing a weave, but I have to say that some women wear it and it takes away from their beauty - if they only knew!!! So many black women look better with their own natural hair. Having long hair is not the equation for BEAUTY. I've seen bald headed or women with short hair step in the room like their hair was down to the floor and OWN the room, because they knew they were NOT defined by the length of their hair! And YES, they were Beautiful! ......Really and Truly knowing who you are and being confident in that is what makes a Woman Beautiful!!! Please Sista's, unless for medical reasons put the weave's down......not braids, but weaves -- You don't need it!

I do not allow people to use the term "good hair" in my presence without checking them on it. This includes friends, relatives, and strangers as well. It doesn't have to be harsh. I usually say there is no such thing as "good" hair. Or I ask, "do you mean more like white people?" Or "who told you kinky hair is bad hair?" If I have to "go there" I explain that this thinking is a direct result of our being colonized and enslaved, and that the term "good hair" reinforces and supports white supremacy. We can not continue to let those comments go unchecked. If more of us do this it will have an impact.

Good hair is healthy hair. It has nothing to do with the texture. I hate when people say “oh you got that good hair” meanwhile ends will be split, and hair will be brittle. No your hair is not good hair if it’s damaged and thinning regardless of your texture or skin color.

Fijians don't really look like black people. They are just another group that looks somewhat similar or share a few features in common because of the fact that everyone descends from africans. It's the same with indians (who have very dark skin), Paupa New Guineans (many who have afros), Solomon Islanders, 'Nigritos' of south asia and the Adaman People on an island close to india.

a mandatory law was made that black women had to cover their hair. This law first came about because the white women didn't like that their men were finding the difference of black hair attractive. 'It was later further enforced once cultures mixed and many black women were being born with "good" hair textures and ambiguous fair skin.

@BeeBea jeez that's extremely ignorant. Not to mention that all sorts of people come from Africa. People from Chad and different parts of Sudan for example, look like they could be from the West Indies. That aside, we ARE the only women that can do umpteen things with our hair simply because OF curl type and texture variations. Duh! Why some women tend to lose hair is because of not knowing how to take care of it, not caring about the risk of too tight braids, weaves, and over glued lace fronts, stress, pregnancy, the list goes on. Every group of women happens to have their own struggle. But it wasn't until recently, there are more products than there have EVER been, for black women with natural hair. And the process for taking care of it, and finding what works for you, is definitely A PROCESS. A lot of science goes into the care of our hair.
Next time, don't be so quick to judge.

This isn't true. It is widely believed that most "Blacks" in America are from Isra'el: of The 12 Tribes of Isra'el (more specifically of The Lost Tribes of Y'hudah [Judah]).
Thus, we're Isra'elites. In addition to know'n about the beautiful essence of our 👑crown & glory (our hair),👑 we need to also know from where we truly come!

As black Africans we will all mixed up and we don't remember or know what tribe or what part of Africa we came from so here we had to create our own culture and where we straighten our hair doing different hairstyles. So we are as an American black women. So for all you women and celebrities who were trying to force other women to wear their hair in braids and naturalness and all of these things keep it to yourself because I am ,who I am.

Halito! Sister, 98%, of us, are [NOT] African related people - period. Your ancestors and progenitors began life here!!! The whole Middle Passage was real, but the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade isn't. Shalawam.

I know how you lying Neanderthals love to shadow our sister's videos and post "PRETENDING" to be another sister or an enraged brother to further discredit them and to put them down. You've been exposed a long time ago. Let our sun work its miracle on your unnatural hide.

The African didn't land in America as slaves! They were enslaved men, women, and children! They were human beings. There's a big difference!

There is no difference between hair, all hair is the same, humans are only one race, there is no different races! We all are from the same North African woman found 250.000 years ago. Sientifically it is impossible to have more human races. That being said: the curlier hair has more lack off luiquid/oil. Why? How? If your upper back is round, you will have shorter, curlier, dryer, vunerable hair. If you waist is round (no room for the liver function) your hair will have more dark melanine. Wait until you hear about melanine fairy tail. I will make a vlog on this one also, great information btw

I wished black stop using the term “kinky”! Wtf is kinky? Your hair is coiled and COILY NOT KINKY!!! BLack hair comes in all textures and the coils resemble DNA strands.

I agree we originated from the continent of Africa, However many of people lineage were derieved from North America, This why many are able to connect a person of indigenous descendants than from Africa directly, Granted their were some that came by way of Ghana, However, not one slave ship has been found to this day. Also notice most imagrates from africa, do not acknowledge those from the US, this is not coincident it's because the narrative is not taught in their shcool's only western culture promotes it. If you get the chance, please check out Dane Calloway's page and content. Also please do not take this a critism because it's not, most do not know, but are being aware, and are connecting the dot's of your true ancestry, not the program that is trying to convince you, that it's your beautiful story.

African slaves had their elaborate hairstyles cut off because hairstyles were native to their certain tribes, so cutting slaves hair was a method to further emasculate & separate them so that they would not easily reunite and overpower their slavemasters. Also Afro hair naturally grows straight up & the higher something was on your head demanded dominance. Whites wore top hats to declare their authority but Afro hair was a natural representation of dominance because it could naturally stand high forcing others to look up at you, so black peoples hair had to be continually cut or covered, it even became a law that blacks must have their hair covered. If you look at the black power movement of the 60’s & 70’s blacks wore their hair in full Afros in liberty of the resistance to the continued white oppression. But unfortunately due to the power of television, magazines & job opportunities, silky straight hair was all that was shown & accepted as beautiful which overpowered our own minds & made us continue to hate & hide our natural dominate hair & to this date we don’t fully embrace it among each other unless it’s tamed in some way. We still praise silky hairstyles & silky wigs & weaves. All of the On going jokes about your kitchen, naps & peas continue the self hatred so much that even natural black girls have to slick their edges with edge control. It’s so sad when you know the bigger picture.

Ok so I felt weird about using any products on my natural hair but knowing that before slavery africans used oils etc in their hair like hair products. if I wet my hair it will get dry I won't never be able to comb through it. Also when you said that in 1800s the Europeans would kidnap Africans and cut off their hair reminds me of prison. Another thing people who are biracial (not all ) still feel the same till this day about being Superior to other black people or black society. Thank you for saying there is no such thing as good hair! That is very very true! To me hair textures are just different. When people say you have nappy or this person has good hair I tell them they have a slave mentality.
