Im guessing the longer length is just to have it go through the door panel with the blue wire so you have easier access under the window switch to quickly make it sequential or not. It is not a problem to just chop it shorter if you don't plan on switching back and fourth on those modes 👍🏼
I just got the side mirror sequential light today. I install the passenger side no problem. Upon tapping driver side blue wire to thick green wire on the window switch, the left turn signal on the instrument cluster stay on. Everything seems to be working normally, except the left turn signal on the instrument cluster stays lit. I check the rest of the wires on that switch and only the fat green wire has 12v.
Its a mix lol, front lip is Ikon motor sports, side skirts are artisan spirit rep (ikon also), and rear spats are just no name from ebay made for a 2IS I just put them upside-down since it looked better that way to me haha
Honestly just used a random wire in my garage lol, but here is some that are meant for LED if you need some. It has positive and negative but you can just split the two and use 1 for the extension 👍🏼 amzn.to/3Q4k3vW
The blue wire is wired inside to keep the white DRL mode on when you have your lights on. If you have it wired to the yellow light it would only turn on when you unlock your car or when you walk close to it. You can do that if that is your preference to have the DRL off while you drive.
I tried to install mine but something went wrong. The turn signals on both mirrors no longer work. Both puddle lights stopped working too. I switched back to stock & turn signals still dont work. Turn signals on both headlights & tail lights work. All fuses check out so I'm at a loss. Anyone have any ideas?
Do you know anyone who installed on an ES? My passenger side is fully installed but my driver side window switches aren’t illuminated with the headlights, it’s just always illuminated if the car is on. I might try and pull the wire out the door into the dash and tap the illuminated BSM button or maybe something in the kick panel but I would really like to avoid that.
I don't know anyone with this on an ES. I would double check all the connections to see if the wires are making contact and are not interacting with other wires that it shouldn't be in contact with.
It stays on when the lighting is switched up one click during the day and it comes on with the headlights automatically at night. Just depends if you want your drl, tails, illuminating during the day with the mirror lights on.

for the green wire (sequential vs solid), is there any reason to not cut it shorter so you don't have the bunch?

Check the rest of the connections you tapped on that side and make sure the wires spliced are not making contact with other exposed wires.
