Thank you, thank you, thank you for this! I just got a JM and you resolved my biggest fears about it. I was seriously concerned it was just a mess but you helped me to realize it's just a unique design. I got my shims yesterday, so will be doing that shortly. I appreciate you for this!!
Oh nice, thanks for letting me know this was helpful! I am actually selling this one shortly (and just preordered a Squier Paranormal JM XII) but it has been fun!
Thanks for this. Been playing for over 30 years, first Les Paul, then in the late 80's a Fernandes Strat but recently bought one of these. Very happy with the sound and feel (after doing exactly what you've done to the guitar). Can't wait to gig with it.....
I purchased a Squier CV 70s Jaguar--a similar guitar to yours but in Shell Pink--and had quite a few mods and adjustments done. It turned out great, so it's good to know that others who like these Squier CVs are doing similar work to make these great and fun to play guitars.
I have some right angle screwdrivers that have 2 ends. Buy one that has a #1 phillips on one end and has a tight angle bend. It makes the intonation job easier at the back end.
I’m looking at the LTD edition jazzmaster by fender , it does not have the rhythm circuit at the top which I’m a bit disappointed about but that aside do you think that version will be as much of a pain as this CV one to set up?
It's not that big of a pain, to be honest, but yours might not require much of a setup anyway. But tough to say without playing the specific guitar. I'm assuming you're buying used? It might already have a decent setup.
I love Squiers so I'm not knocking them but it's crazy to me how many finishing touches get skipped on big brand guitars these days before they leave the factory. Was it always like that?
I don't think it was always like that, but who knows? Back in the days most people bought guitars from a shop and usually that shop would do a once-over to make the guitars floor ready. That said, I really think the guitar boom of the past two years has a lot to do with quality control issues. I guess we'll see once things revert to the mean and guitars aren't selling at an absurd rate.
Just need to know how to do a setup. Once you do it sounds like a 1000$ guitar. Mine was way out of whack . I have fun doing setups tho lol. I shimmed my next with folded paper . Decreasing the number of folds as I went down .
Hi! im looking for a new guitar, i´ve played for almost four years with just one guitar, my epiphone les paul special, i started playing guns and roses things and hard rock stuff, but i mean i never modifiqued my lp and now im having a lot of troubles with the fret broad, the affination and that stuff, anyways, i was saving money for a new guitar but i have literally no money for mods, im not afraid of doing adjustments on my guitar by my self, but i really dont want to give someone tthe guitar and pay money for that, i just cant afford it well now im playing in a jazz band and we play some frank sinatra stuff and also a lot of improvisation themes, i was thinking to buy a semihollow guitar, but i found a problem, i also play a lot, a lot of led zeppelin, i mean is actually my fav band and i was thinking about which guitar should i buy rn i have 2 options in mind, the telecaster cv and this jazz master cv, but i just cannot decide which one is the best guitar for me, i love the crunch an rocker sound of the tele and also how it sounds in jazz, and i mean was the main guitar of jimmy page for led zep 1 and well i also love how it look, and by the other side i really love the jazmaster cv olympic white color and also that resonance and the darker sound of the pickups and i also love the trem bar how it looks and the rythm system, i mean both good and bad things but i just cant decide which one should i buy, any tip or suggestion to make my decission, cause i mean for me is a lot of money and i want to have a good guitar
Hey there! Honestly you don't need a "jazz" guitar for jazz band so I would buy whatever is going to suit your own tastes most. The guitarists in jazz band at my high school played an SG and an ESP. No rules! :) Tele and Jazzmaster are both great, but I can't give you a straight up rec. That said, it sounds like you're leaning towards the Tele and I think you'll be happy with it if that's what you decide.
@@ArtOfShredYT Thanks for the answer dude, i was afraid to go with my band with a heavy guitar or a non jazz guitar hah, cause i mean, for me is kinda strange but you are right, is not the guitar, is the guitarrist, and i think i will go straight for the tele, or maybe not, i'll let my fingers make that choise!
@@ArtOfShredYT it makes a difference on all mine. I use Peterson strobe tuners and seeing the difference between tabled and playing position on that tuner shows a difference that I can hear. My Boss TU-12 H isn't as accurate as my Peterson and the Boss needle doesn't catch the movement difference as quickly as the strobe. Most people can't hear the difference, but I can, so I make myself happy. Having the intonation pretty close is way better than off, for sure.
It somewhat depends on how you like your guitar setup. I don't think it's absolutely necessary but I get why it's so popular because of the better break angle at the bridge. I'd likely install a shim on any future JMs I might own.

Sweet! Happy you liked the review! I just sold this one last week (need to make room for other guitars to review) and I miss it already.

Nice, the shell pink looks beautiful! Thanks for commenting
Set the tone knob to zero when doing intonation. It helps keep the needle stable without overtones and less fluctuations,
Good tip! Thanks for sharing
great intonation info...thanks man!
@@bradpittiful7288 you're welcome! There's also an intonation video on the channel
@@ArtOfShredYT nice ill check it out!
Thanks for this video, it's very informative and concise, you earned a subscribe from me, sir.

Sweet, happy to help, have fun!
hello i have a question: what kind of wood the fretboard is made of, because it looks like rosewood !?!
It's Indian Laurel. Looks similar to rosewood. 🙂🎸
Intonation adjustments should always be made in playing position, not with it on the table, etc.
Yeah while that is how I do it I've found it doesn't really affect things either way.

Classic Vibe Jazzmaster is better than 40th Anniversary?
I don't know but my gut tells me the Anniversary is pretty great. I've yet to play one though
what is your verdict on the shim?
