When should I start application process for fall 2023?
@Anupam Chaurasia you can start at the end of 2022 like from November. Half of December is holidays, so that time will be not useful. And overall you need at least 6 to 7 months to land a position. But since you have more time than that, I suggest to start early. All the best for your application

I am from a mechanical engineering background. And the websites you mentioned in the video, it shows very less phd position for fluid dynamics (mechanical engineering). Without being much worried about the position, is it fine to directly sent a mail to the professors for the corresponding research interests? Please clarify
Sure you can directly send an email to the professor if they are related to your area of research interest. Make sure to make a very concise and to the point Cover letter and CV.

Is it mandatory to pass ielts with good band at the time of admission? Or we can submit later?
IELTS is not compulsory in most places. It's recommended and helps in boosting the overall application.

For doing PhD from any European University you do not need any entrance exam. There is no use of NET in EU countries. Here the professors see whether you have relevant research experience or not to handle the project work of your PhD thesis.
Every professor or recruiter would want to talk to you before they hire you. That's how they judge your personality, communication skills, technical and scientific knowledge.

This would not be a major issue for your applications. You can apply for PhD positions. You have some publications as well. Here the professors see whether you have relevant research experience or not to handle the project work of your PhD thesis.

Depends on your field of work. If you are from engineering background, you would not need a PhD degree as most engineers land decent jobs after master degree. However, in general, you can expect higher salary if you have a PhD degree in pretty much all fields.

I am pursuing MSc. Biochemistry (1st sem). I want to do PhD from Germany, but I am confused about timing of application. So, can u please let me know when should I start sending application either in 3rd sem or 4th sem? I am having 2 research articles published in international journal.

You should start your applications by the end of 3rd semester. But there is always a catch. If you are very lucky and you get a confirmed position before your 4th sem finishes then its tricky, because you have to submit your degree certificate, so that's that. But its ideal time to start by the end of 3rd sem or at the beginning of 4th sem.

Buddy generally, the positions are advertised at most 3-4 months in advance. But you need to prepare your documents and that takes time. When I said to start early, I meant to start preparing documents. See positions and understand the requirements and accordingly prepare your CV, motivation letter/cover letter. All the best.

I have a doubt If I complete my electrical engineering btech + mtech(IIT) then.....how many years It might take to do a PhD in physics...in Germany.....matlab.....kitna time lag sakta hay....
The duration of your studies in btech and mtech does not have any effect in how many years you will finish your PhD in Germany. The initial contract is for 3 years (in some places can be 4 years). It depends on you, how fast can you finish your PhD work and your supervisor finds it satisfactory or not. If you do not manage in 3 years you can take extension for another 1 year. The extension depends on your supervisor, how much they can extend.

If you have a cgpa of more than 8 or 8.5 then you can apply and are eligible for most of the german universities. In percentage that would be about 76 to 81 %. I hope this helps.

Sure, it is possible to get admission without any paper. Publications improve the chances of getting a position but they are not mandatory in most places. If you have 2 papers as a co-author, you have excellent chances to land a position.

Is it necessary to have a research experience?
You need some amount of research experience. You should be able to understand the project outline for which you are applying and working knowledge of the methods to be used in the project. The work that you do in your master thesis is also counted as your research experience and many students land a PhD position based on that only.

Since you are from an engineering background, you are more suitable for jobs in European countries. But in order to land a job in any European country you need to learn the language.
I would suggest, its better to do an MS course that is for 1 year from countries like Germany, Italy, France, Spain, UK. Then you have good chance to get a job here.
There is also the option that you apply in Canada for MS for 1 year. The language problem won't be there in Canada.
Getting a job directly from India to Europe or America (without language proficiency in Europe) is difficult.

@@pawankumarsaini1883 You should not look at it from this prospect. There are good universities in every country. If you want to go to some particular countries, then you need to find further which labs are the best in that country that would provide you a Phd position. Do not look which country is best or which university is best. Rather look which lab/professor is best in your field. Generally, in Europe, Germany is best followed by Italy, France, and so on.

Based on the information that you have provided, I would say that you got the position. If the professor is already agreed and there is funding for the project position, then next step is documentation and formalities.
I assume that you wrote an informal email and the professor had a conversation with you and agreed to take you as a PhD student but you still need to fill up an official application form. If this is the case, then I have already answered your question above. If I understood wrong then please correct me.

Hello Biswajit, thanks for your comment. To answer your query, I think you already have a pretty decent profile, just write your cover letter / SOP in a way that really highlights your papers and skills in a concise way. It all boils down to how you represent yourself to the professor of the lab. There are many students who have a killer profile but still takes longer to get a position and vice versa. Maybe you can consider adding an English language exam like IELTS or TOEFL (this will boost you profile even more). Hope this helps. All the best.

You can apply for scholarships like DAAD but it's a lengthy process and the fellowship compared to funded positions might be somewhat less. I will make a separate video on the stipend/'fellowship/salary system that PhD students and Post-Docs get in Germany. That will make it clear. But to answer your question, the stipend is quiet enough and sufficient to live a good life here and also make good savings.

@@maheshranjandash1074 Well ideally, you would require to submit you academic documents to start any position and it won't make sense if you got selected in a position and do not have the documents, since, you are currently studying. So, I would recommend that you see that what is the desired start date of the position and you should have all your documents well before that date. You can start applying in you 4th semester but make sure that before the start of the position, you must have all your degree certificates from MSc. All the best.

Can you tell for how much time one should join lab?
You can work in a lab as long as you don't get a Phd position/or whatever position you are looking for somewhere else. Lab work is good to gain some experience and publish some papers if possible. There is no such time limit but atleast 6 months to 1 year would be good.

Start applications for the positions which you find relevant according to your area of interest. First few applications might not be very good but then you will get the hang of it and also start getting replies on your applications.
