Jessie:"that's possibly the slowest and most mellow of them all"
Player during this level:"OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT"
This game is such a splendid love letter to the N64 and PSx era 3D platformers. Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did, regardless of whether those were something you ever played.
Okay so, you were right on the money with "Every song has it's own personality." TO give context, I'mma share some spoilers, just in case anybody hasn't played.
Every song is basically unique because they embody the various worlds the game has. Every boss fight is unique in that they embody the boss of the level. This song is no exception. Nyakuza Metro is a unqiue DLC for A Hat in Time, in that it adds a level that's far bigger than previous ones. Instead of a level that slowly opens up more and more as you play different 'episodes,' like previous ones, the Nyakuza Metro is a whole open area that you explore, and you gain access to new areas by finding keys. But it's not episodic, like the rest. The story is, you enter to find the Time Pieces you've been searching for, but the Nyakuza take them instead. Empress, the boss of the Nyakuza, recruits you to find them for her. And, in the very end, you try to steal them all, and Empress gets -angry,- before calmly sicing the -entire- Nyakuza on you. This music is less of a boss theme, as it's the theme of you trying to escape. The metro turns into this massive obstacle course of you avoiding hoards of Nyakuza members, all while Empress shoots at you with a rocket launcher. It's an -amazing- end to an amazing DLC, and honestly, my favorite piece in an already perfect soundtrack.~ I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed it.
Oh nice. Can't wait for you to play the game and listen to the master piece that is the Time Rift music. Its so unlike everything else in the soundtrack, it manages to stand out in a game with a soundtrack that already stands out.
To be fair, this music was the the one that made me play A Hat in Time, and I'm glad i found this track on UA-cam because the game was a hell of a blast to play.
Great react as always!
This OST is a banger!
Really cool to see you so giddy about something that's deeply connected to your and many other people's childhood as well.
Also, Happy New Year 🍾
I'm so, so glad you really enjoyed this song and how this game is making you feel even before playing it. Seriously, I did have a very similar feel where it made me remember my childhood and why I started playing videogames. Everytime I would start this game on my first run, it would instantly make me feel like, in the mood of "nothing else cares, right now, we're gaming and having a lot of fun, jamming with some good vgm". Hope you really enjoy the game! Aaaand ofc Happy new year Jesse!!
I am finally validated that A Hat in Time has the best soundtrack out of all the games I play. :)
I don't know anything about music theory, but I love listening to vgm and really love your channel! keep up the good work!
Second Hat in Time DLC is Nyakuza Metro. Nya like cat sound and Yakuza like the gangsters and videogame series. I hope you are doing the DLCs too, this one in particular is great and might have some stuff you will enjoy in particular. May Ape Escape return in some form or spirit in our hearts.
I played Ape Escape for the first time a few months ago and it was lovely! Second game is quite good too
Nya, specifically, is the onomatopoeia the Japanese use in place of "Meow"
I'm so glad you put into words exactly what I felt about watching and playing A Hat In Time my first time. The variety, the playful nature of it, and the way it manages to call back to that older era of games while still approaching it in a new way is just incredible. As you said, everyone has their favorite soundtracks for their favorite games, and while I didn't experience this game until my 30s, it is UNDOUBTEDLY one of my favorite games, and the soundtrack plays a large part in that. Really makes me want to make more covers and remixes for it!
As always, love how genuine and heartfelt your reactions and thoughts are.
That whole OST goes so god damn hard. This was the Song in the DLC Trailer and it made it so hype.
should try to hear rush hour mixed with calm hour. Calm hour is calmer version of rush hour and when they are plaid together - it sounds even more amazing
About damn time someone decided to react to this soundtrack; this is actually one of my top music compositions from the game, and it's just sad that this track is somewhat being slept on.
So glad this was requested. A Hat in Time has such an amazing and special OST
4:42 will always bring me back to this song
I love how much the music changes in this song and gets even better, playing the game and hearing this reminded me of how cool all that variety is in a single track
I'm of a mind that the soundtrack can make or break a game. Having played this game, I'm sure that you're gonna enjoy this one.
This is one of the catchiest things I've ever heard.
Wow I juuuust finished playing this game and it’s dlc, and here is one of the best songs on your review video! I’m addicted to this OST. Such a good game. I hope you check out No Straight Roads one of these days, that’s in my top 5 game OSTs and it really feels deep and detailed.
Btw, in case you are like me and didn't know about how to dance is by tapping both emotes buttons a few times, at least on controller. I thought it was a badge thing the whole game until I looked it up on Google
Personally, I love Nyakuza Manholes. xD It's such a whimsical fun song.
Love that song
@@JessesAuditorium :D Another personal favorite for me is the Deep Sea Time Rift. But I could go on and on about that game anyway. Hahaha.
OST is very easy to vibe too
Nice track. Some parts of it reminded me of Ecstasy of Gold a bit.
I'll say that three of my favourite songs in the soundtrack are ones that just won't show up during normal gameplay. They are Sand'n'Sails Cave Rave (a scrapped level), Alpine Skyline's Lazy Paw Gang (unused) and Rhythm Jump Studio Rift (which can be found only doing a bonus, community-developed challenge, so it's somewhat tricky to unlock it). I think it's incredible that there are such 'bonus' great songs that can be found if you look through the OST.
Hello, Jesse! Can i suggest the new sonic game's (Sonic Frontiers) boss soundtrack? Especially "Undefeatable"?
Do you happen to have a list of all the requests? It would be cool to see that.
Please oh please listen to "A grasping truth" from fire emblem radiant dawn. You'll love it

Not sure if you’ve covered this one already but looking for you by daiki kasho might be worth a look at

It’s a dlc you’ll have to pay extra for it anyway
Worth it imo. Devs deserve the pay
@@Crystalitar absolutely this game almost made me feel bad it was so cheap because a hat in time is an absolute gem of not just an indie, but a game in general
