- Across the last few months our cameras have visited Searles Valley and Trona to visit the Trona Railway! UP trains from Mojave, including a coal train from Skyline, Utah, are seen at Searles' tunnel 29, and the interchange between UP and the Trona are shown in great detail with the UP crews dropping off cars for interchange before leaving back for Mojave. Multiple Trona crews are followed down to Searles Valley, with locations such as West End, Oxy and the Pinnacles highlighted! Enjoy the show!

Wow!!!
What days does the trona railroad usually run?
Weekdays!
@@RailfanJunction do u know the times they run?
@@RailfanJunction and I’d assume it’s every weekday?
Crazy to see ex Southern Pacific units
is it?
Coal hoppers ??? What's it's destination ?
Searles Valley Minerals plant at Argus.
@RailfanJunction I had no idea the furnaces were coal fired.
How long is that tunnel?
About 3000 ft, though I can't find an exact measurement online. It used to be longer (4,340 ft) but a fire in 1981 closed it and forced SP to run trains over an old shoefly grade that went over the hill, it was reopened in 1982 to the current, shortened length.
