well, as far as ZDoom goes, it is GZDoom that I had downloaded; I had just set up the folder name housing is as 'ZDoom' as you had mentioned in the above instructions. I was trying to synergize our methods if anybody else wants to try this and is as new to it as I am, heh. I mean, even the doom wiki was mad hard to understand, and I ended up having to explore other forums and experiment myself to figure it out. Ended up figuring out just how much I don't know XD at least was rewarded w/ GORE!!
never mind! I figured it out B) for those of you as stupid as I, just follow the steps PMolloy says, but remember to copy the .WAD file from the copy of Doom you own (be it ultimate doom, doom 2, etc.) into your newly made ZDoom folder, put the .pk3 of any downloaded mods in there too, then simply load the application in your ZDoom folder (gzdoom). good luck, and thanks again to PMolloy. I friggin love this mod.
1) Download ZDoom source port (Search in Google) 2) Download the latest Brutal Doom mod. Search on Google. The latest version of Brutal Doom is V0.13 3) Once you've downloaded both, put all the files into one folder. (call it ZDoom) 4) Any other mods you want, download them from Doomworld/idgames, and put them in a skins folder in your new ZDoom folder. 5) To play brutal doom, drag the brutal doom file on the exe file for ZDoom. The mod will run. Follow instructions to play. Hope this helps.
thanks for the help, but I'm having some difficulty. I created the new ZDoom folder on my desktop, unzipped both .rars, then opened up the file location of my normal Doom2, then dragged the new ZDoom folder onto the .exe for the regular Doom2 game (called gzdoom in the unmodded folder). the game's not running any differently for me. any advice? I appreciate the help buddy :)
hey man, would you mind linking me to the requisite mods/how to utilize them (i'm a noob at this) in order to exactly replicate what you've got going on in this clip? it looks ludicrously fun man.
@kotapainting Heh, I missed all your big updates here mate, haha. No problem. But people should really used GZDoom for this mod, not ZDoom. I encountered loads of issues with ZDoom. GZDoom runs it nicely.
small update: tried executing it through my Ultimate Doom.exe also, with no results. When I try using the application within the mod folder (the new ZDoom folder) it says it's missing the requisite .WAD files. I tried copying a doom.WAD into the newly created ZDoom folder and, low and behold, it ran. I noticed that the graphics were slightly different and that there was a mouse cursor (rabbit head), but I didn't see the excess gore, weapon noises, etc, I see in your video. What should I change?

@kotapainting Oh, and the latest version of Brutal Doom is now 0.14. It is at the beta stage I think, but it works fine. :)
