I'm diabetic. I have insurance. Haven't been able to afford Dr visits or all my meds and supplies in a long time. I'm not on SS disability and UA-cam pushing videos or play video games. I do not over eat. I do exercise by kayaking several times a week even with OA and fibromyalgia. I have periods of a lot of pain but push through it. On no pain meds either. Taking a med or trying to eat only once a day is not going to help lose weight. It will slow your metabolism even more. nothing will change unless you move and exercise. It can start easy. Just walk 10 minutes several times a day then increase. My Dad is 67 and had a ministroke causing early stage dementia from damage to his frontal lobe. He is on 9 medications. He has such a will to live he walks on a treadmill twice a day, 2 miles every single day. There is no short cut. No easy way. You want to live a fulfilling life or you don't.
She wants kids and is a smoker, it just doesn't seem like she's willing to take care of herself. I have no idea what "shot" she's talking about but eating a handful of food a day is not healthy and will likely cause her to go backwards if she does lose any weight.

When I got out on Trulicity, that really motivated me to work harder. I force myself to eat a meal, but it's just enough to get full and I'm not starving myself and I exercise more. She can't seem to grasp that. And I'm not an expert on diabetes but aren't you supposed to eat? I mean, like not skip meals and stuff? I was under the impression that skipping meals when you are diabetic could send you into insulin shock - am I way off base here?
Lil Maritimer no, you're right. I'm diabetic and they suggest even when you're not very hungry, to eat at least a snack so your blood sugar doesn't drop or in some cases, shoot up. You're supposed to eat three regular meals and at least two snacks during the day. Nighttime is optional depending where your blood sugar is before bed. It's a science and is difficult at times, but if you don't exercise, it's not going to improve much.
