      Yes, and those days were 10+ years ago. Gymnastics has changed, whether you believe for better or worse, but this is the sport we have today and it’s still very enjoyable to watch. We also have to remember these women HAD to be near perfect, otherwise Marta wouldn’t have given them a chance🤷🏼‍♂️

      It's a different era, the rules dictate what moves gymnasts need to perform to compete. I think they need to continue to value the difficult acrobatics but limit the number of them they can do so the more beautiful balancing movements are retained in the sport. Simone and others do some crazy difficult routines where the bonus for difficulty makes up for the errors. S

      @@robertvirnig42I think that's pretty unfair to say. Simone has proven her whole career to be a pretty clean and sharp beam worker. She's a 4 time world champion and 2 time Olympic bronze medalist on beam. Her execution has always been excellent. Obviously there have been times here and there over her 10+ years career where she has had bad routines but generally she's one of the cleanest in the field.

    Hi. Would you help me answering one thing. I'm trying to seach for the balance beam world record, but I can't find it. Is this the WR? If not who's the world record holder?

    • @flipstwists
      @flipstwists  5 місяців тому +3

      in gymnastics, there's no official wr for beam (or any apparatus) coz the code of points, which is the scoring system used to judge routines, changes every 4 years. these changes can include adjustments to difficulty values, how deductions are applied, and other criteria that affect scores.
      so, a routine that might have gotten the highest score in one olympic cycle could score differently in another, even if performed the same way. this makes it impossible to compare scores across different years or decades.
      instead of a wr, the gymnast with the best routine in a given year usually wins major comps like worlds or the olympics. these titles are what count the most in the sport, not a specific score.
      hope this helps :)

    • @DualGenStudios
      @DualGenStudios 5 місяців тому +1

      @@flipstwists Thank you for your very detailed explanation. It's a pity there isn't a world record, but if the sport is like that we have to accept it the way it is, and it's ok. I was wanting to know the world record because I'm creating a video game called "Medal winners 24" which is inspired in the Olympics and I needed this information you gave me. So, I think I won't be using a World record in my game or may be I'll invent one for gameplay replayability. I don't know. But hey, thanks again.

      I've never seen a beam routine from her without wobbles or a step out on the landing.

    I’m sure that crouched down spinning on one foot three times thing, that they do in recent years, is difficult but it’s the least graceful move I’ve seen in gymnastics. Sure, they do it, but should they? Watching their arms flail all over the place is most unattractive. Sometimes less is more and elegance is better than difficult, just to be difficult.

    There should definitely be an “artistry” component to the judging, along with difficulty and execution.

    • @sunbeamfactory5171

      The execution score contains the artistry component.

    Would score about 14.3 these days --> 5.2 difficulty, 9.1 execution.

      1E 6D 1C, 0.2 for dismount bonus, 0.2 for connection , it should be 5.6 difficulty

      @@limxiaoqing97061 She doesn't have any E move, her switch ring gets downgraded to a switch leap these days (lack of head release), and she has no connection bonus because her connections in the routine are too slow.

      @limxiaoqing97061 2 роки тому +2

      @@ZuranthiumI think the switch ring won't be downgraded,but will get e score deduction. the CV quite depends on judges favour

    • @TJ-bd5iq
      @TJ-bd5iq 2 роки тому +3

      Agree that switch ring won’t get credit it has no arch and head release. That front aerial to one foot is not a skill anymore. All acro series need to be rebounding so no CV there. Also that wolf 1/1 is downgraded to wolf 1/2 only since you need to finish the twist first before showing the full. Switch half front leg is low.

    • @_padfoot
      @_padfoot 2 роки тому +7

      @@TJ-bd5iq It's funny cuz I always think of Nastia as having the exemplary switch half, and I still think that's true, but agree that in the current code she still gets a body shape deduction, maybe just a tenth though. Because the Code's version of "perfection" has become this platonic ideal of skills that has very little connection to how skills -- especially high difficulty ones -- are actually performed.
