More than 13,178 finishers joined me on November 5, 2017 for the annual Wine & Dine Half Marathon.
Despite some serious errors and issues with my GoPro hero 5 Black, I salvaged more than three hours of videos to capture this fun race.
The camera corrupted my Mile 3 Marker video, but a few runDisney friends and fans helped me out with their pictures.

Also, Thank you everyone who stopped to say Hi. It's incredibly difficult for me to see what's going on around me because of my Stargardt Disease and visual impairment. You all make these races easier for me and so many others with physical challenges.

If I could set off fireworks for you... I would! :) Congratulations. Nothing like doing your First Half Marathon and your First Disney race at the same time. I did it too! It's so much more memorable thank the average local race. CONGRATULATIONS.

Love the video! Your race recap videos are so motivational and make you feel like you are there. Even though we are sick today I want to go out running now (and walk around the parks). We will be starting our half marathon training next month which will be a whole new journey. Thank you again for all the motivation! :D
Hi Alex ... thank you (and you're welcome.) Mission accomplished ... I try to keep the "chit chat" to a minimum in the recaps ... so it feels more like an actual run of the course. It's amazing how many more people are at these events as compared to Avengers! Such great support for you out there and from mile 3...that was great! You did such a great job on this run, G! Congratulations!
Thanks Heather. Funny .. I was surprised to see only 13,000+ finishers. The Half Marathons at WDW usually have upwards of 20,0000... It felt big and really crowded at times with thousands fewer runners. Wasn't that cool how everyone helped me out after my #*@& GoPro malfunction. Darn thing!
I wonder if it's the course -- it seems narrower in a lot of spots. Loved seeing all the love people gave you!
Great recap once again! We just got back on Saturday from a week at Disney with the kiddos. Such a magical place even when not running through them in a race but chasing after energy filled twin toddlers. I even managed to log 10 walking miles one of our days! Keep up the awesome work!

Thanks Brian ... so true! I often feel stressed forcing myself to keep with the PLAN. When it comes to race weekend, I like to just go with the flow. Princess weekend should be fun. I'm already working on some cool costumes! See you there.

It's been a long, slow ... sometimes grueling and grinding process, but I agree. The darn summer heat here in central Florida helped me this year.
I felt jealous during your preview video...but now I am insanely jealous that I did not run this race!!! What an amazing course! Great job as always, enjoy your holiday, and best of luck in the final weeks of training! You got this!!!

You look super chipper and ready to go after your 2 am wake up call! I look and feel more like the haggard, bleary eyed Tinkerbell in a bathrobe that’s on my favorite coffee mug! Another great video and I felt like I was running there the whole time. I loved seeing Pandora and the course looks so fun. This challenge is definitely on my bucket list. Success ... you felt like you were there. Too funny BTW ... I am such a planner ... even getting up earlier and earlier the weeks before a race so I feel rested. Tink in a bathrobe LOL :P I do need my coffee too. I may invest in a small Keurig for Marathon weekend... just have to find space in my bag.

Awesome video! You are such an inspiration. So excited for the Disney World half marathon! Awesome video Gerald! You were able to tape some amazing footage! I LOVE the push-ups with Army Guy! You were able to get some fantastic video of the fireworks for the start of corals! So glad you took the time to enjoy this race! You also stopped for some characters that I did not stop for. Hopefully we get to run through Pandora during the Marathon in January. This was so beautiful. I ran through it during the 5k and it was all lit up because it was still dark. Amazing the work that went into the imagineering of this addition! Goofy/ Dopey training continues. Look forward to the videos coming up 😎😎😎. Keep up the Great videos and training!

You'll have a blast! Just look for those LED light panels while on the course ... and the neon green tents where they PhotoPass photographers are parked. If you want character pictures ... get them after the race. Few people stay after and the lines are shorter. If you want them before the start ... get there early. Have fun and I'll see ou there.

Yes ... you've got that Marathon to attend to. It's a big week for training if your following the plan... crazy how he (Galloway) puts it during Thanksgiving... but, I guess we can eat as much as we want... just no time for shopping. I'm following a slightly different plan since I'm "only" doing the marathon and not Dopey. I had a big run last weekend in the "lovely" 20-something degrees. And while I'm thinking about it... I think we need a better word than "only" or "just" to describe doing the marathon and not Goofy or Dopey. Good luck this week with the training.

Gerald, thanks for another great video! I enjoyed the race and your recap. The only thing I think Disney missed was the obvious Pandora photo opportunity - Big Blue guy in Avatar! I was looking for this one and was planning to stop regardless of how long the wait time. I couldn’t believe they didn’t have it. I wonder if I was the only one looking for this????
You Know? You're right! A waterfall shot!!! They should have had a bunch of Avatars for us to get our pictures with ... funny how the blue lighting made us all look like Avatars! LOL Maybe next Fall. btw .. you're welcome.

You're a monster Kevin ... LOL a Half AND Dopey training. This is a tough week (If you're following the runDisney plan) ... 45-50 miles.. and a big Thanksgiving meal. Can't believe Marathon weekend is so close. Happy Holidays.
Thank you. And I am definitely Dopey that is for sure! This week I cut back for the half marathon and am only doing 35 miles. Crazy I know ONLY 35 miles! The following weeks are going to really be crazy and test my mettle: 56 mi, 29 mi, 52 mi, 28 mi, 32 mi, and Dopey Challenge 48.6 mi. I am following a plan I developed based on the Dopey Galloway Plan. Basically, instead of doing just the Tues & Thurs runs, I am running every day alternating between 5K and 10Ks. Since the end of June, I have only taken 16 days off. I know it goes against most plans to run every day but it has really worked for me and I am continuing to get PRs during training runs following the 80/20 rule.

Another excellent video. Watching your race videos is my favorite way to pass time on the treadmill. It looks like you were using the G5/Hero 5 combo to shoot this. There wasn't noticeable motor noise from the Gimbal, did you have to clean that up in post or did something resolve that issue?
Thank you Ryan. The camera is probably at its worst ever. I just turned the natural sound/audio donw under the music. The shots/sound near Animal Kingdom ... where the cast member is saying "Great Morning for a run" had to be pumped up dozens of times. The audio files was almost imperceptible! In fact I couldn't use any sound from me saying Hi to the two chef guys. ... I have come up with a "backup" which I use for the first time in my Week 22 video (Thanksgiving week.)
Thanks so much for replying to me. I realized that you posted in prior video about issues with your G5. (I am trying to ration your video's during my treadmill runs so I am a little behind. I hope you can get the camera issues resolved.

Yes ... it was Illuminations ... (Thanks Jsaon) the Fireworks song. I am trying to pick some different stuff from time to time. Really gets your heart pumping ... doesn't it?!

These videos are so amazing! Once I decided I was going to do the Princess half marathon I started researching UA-cam videos and you came up! Absolutely LOVE these, so motivating, and great for when I am stuck in a treadmill and have to do longer runs. One question: what was that awesome song you had going on in the background at the end of the video right before you finished the race? It was right before the last marching band came up, sounds like an awesome song to run to! Thanks for the videos!
It's "Illuminations - Reflections of Earth." It's the song Disney plays during the fireworks display at the end of the night at Epcot. :) BTW .. you're welcome.
How do you find running with your GoPro? I'm bringing my Hero 5 to the upcoming WDW Marathon Weekend and want to know if I should purchase an additional GoPro battery or just bring an external battery charger? Thanks!

Me too... I think being able to run around the parks and stay there (I never get to do that) ... PLUS earn a cool medal makes up for it a bit. If it weren't for the Hotel and food prices... ugh! :(

How do you get such good video with the GoPro in the dark/low light? I recorded the 10k with my GoPro and I️t was really grainy video in the dark.
Two things... #1 I set the ISO limit (in preferences) to 1600 ... so it can't get any "grainier!" I shoot in 4K. and #2 I process the heck out of all of the video in post ... Adobe Premiere Pro. I correct for color (those horrible Tungsten lights) ... brightness and contrast. If you play with the last two enough you can get rid of most of the grain... the trade off ... it does make the video a bit darker. If you look closely at a few of the shots in the beginning.. before the race start... I struggle with the low light too.
RezRuns thanks. I’ll have to try a program like that. I was looking into pinnacle studio ultimate. Do you shot at a wide angle or medium? I think I used the narrow for the 10k and I️t might’ve been too narrow.
