Fitted one a year ago, handy level indicator, you need to make sure it's as vertical as possible for the shut off ball inside to work properly. Being brass fittings you need to be careful if your going to tighten as much as you did, very easy to strip the thread.
Hi Guys, I believe the gas safety shut off Valve is great device to have, I am having some doubts about the accuracy of the Gauge though based on others comments. I will keep you all updated. Thanks for watching. James
Hi James, we are having trouble getting 6kg refills locally, so we're thinking of converting to the flogas lightweight 10kg patio propane. I might try one of these Gauges on the converter regulator. Thanks for the video!
Hi John, having used it for a while now, Its great as a safety feature but not very reliable for a contents gauge. Thanks for watching and Happy Camping, James
Hi James , I fitted the same valve before our seven month trip to Europe starting last September and finishing in March when our ninety days were up. Like you we have two bottles and it gives you a rough idea on how the gas is going and when the gas pipe was fitted incorrectly it did shut the gas off. The only thing to remember is to pump the gauge or you end up wondering why you have no gas coming thru . Trevor
Thanks Trev. I have been using it now for a couple of weeks and to be honest I am nit sure the gauge has moved. I have had the BBQ on a couple of times a day. I guess if it does stop a major leak then it's worth it. Thanks for commenting. James
A great bit of kit, but will not cut off the gas if you have a minor leak, designed for major leaks as if you had an accident on the motorway. What you can do is turn off the gas and if the gauge goes down , ie losses pressure, then you have a leak
Hi James the reason you spanner was the wrong size is you have 30mm spanner which is perfect for a std Calor pig tail the gauge requires a 29 mm spanner. I just been investigating the issue on my own van today. The device can detect a gas leak because it contains an excess flow valve which limits the max flowrate and is the reason why you need to “prime” the device you are merely resetting the excess flow valve. The gauge is very inaccurate the best and cheapest way to check how much gas is left in bottle is to weigh the bottle using the type of cheap scales used to check weight of a suitcase. A 6kg Calor propane has a gross weight of 15 kg when full
Hi Andrew, thanks for the extra information very much appreciated. I did have my doubts about the accuracy of the garage. To be fair as I always carry 2 bottles anyway. It's not a biggie if I run out I can swap to the other and have time to get a new one. Thanks again James
Interesting device James. I've just found it on Amazon for £16.49, however it doesn't get good reviews. Would be interested in an update on this and how it performs. Cheers Martin
Hi Martin. Yes I am having my doubts about it at the moment. I believe it will be fine for a major leak. With regards the other features the Jury is still out on that. I will give it some use over the next few weeks and do an update. Thanks for commenting. James
Hi James, Very good for seeing how much gas left. I wonder how these types of devices know the difference between a leak and when gas is being used? I'll have to purchase one of those pigtails with a hand wheel to make changing bottles easier. Cheers. Rob
Thanks Rob, they contain an excess flow valve, apparently the flow rate from a leak is greater than if being drawn and burned off by an appliance so if the flow rate is to great it shuts off.. I am getting feedback that the gauge is very unreliable and not to be trusted. I will keep you all updated. James
Thanks for sharing that. I have a question about your spare wheel. Was it originally under the bed? Ours is under the bed, just wondered if you moved it? Thanks, Graham
Hi Graham, as you know we had the Caravan from New. The Spare has always been in the front locker and actualy has a securing bracket for it against the inside locker wall. So it must have been fitted there by swift. We don't have a fixed bed (twin dinette) so that may be the reason for it being in there. I cant see a reason why you can't move it to the front locker if you can still stay within your nose weight. Hope that helps. James.
Hello, Thanks for watching, I did do a follow up as part of one of the other Vlogs. In all Honesty as a level device it is next to useless, It basically went from Full to empty with no warning., I do still have it as a safety device, but do not rely on it to check the level of the gas. I also believe it wont work if you have a small leak only a major leak. Hope that helped and Happy Camping. James
Hi thanks for commenting, I was a bit suspect about the gauge as I didn't think I had quite as much gas as it showed. I do carry a spare so it's not a big issue. I really wanted the unit for the saftey shut of valve.
@@CaravanEscapades101 I have one on my setup, but sure I read somewhere in the instructions that the Gauge is an indicator of bottle pressure not bottle level
For more information on how this works and how to help detect minor leaks, Dan Trudgeon did a great vlog, Hope this helps. James ua-cam.com/video/ImVhMcjSrsQ/v-deo.html

Hi thanks for commenting and thanks for the advice very much appreciated. I will keep that in mind next time I do it up. Good tip. James
Yes had the gas stop for a few years now.... Easy to read, easy to use... I've found it be accurate enough for early warning....
Great vid
Thank you, & Thanks for watching. James
Hi James. Great little device. I'll give it look and thanks for the content. Cheers Paul and Sarah

Hi James looks like a good device will look into it 😀
It has failed as a level gauge, I have done another vlog on it. Thanks for watching, James

Interesting, especially if it proves to be reliable. Be keen to know how you get on with it over time. Thanks - George and Trish CaravanningMacs
Unfortunately, as a level indicator it is very unreliable, I have done a follow up vlog. James

looks good
I am impressed so far, piece of mind over leaks and being able to tell how full the bottle is. Thanks for commenting.

Any update on your review? I see many people don’t rate these type of devices. Wondered what you thought after using it for a while.

Bought one a year ago. It shows either full or empty. Would not recommend. Gauge is in garage somewhere.
