    Thanks to this video we have just purchased one of these gauges, I knew there were such things like flash back arresters had to be use in industry when using Acetylene, Propane and Oxygen but was unaware that there was such devices in the leisure gas industry. Cheers Dan

    Thanks for the video Dan. I didn't realise this existed but I do now thanks to you. I have purchased one and it will be fitted tomorrow.

    To answer the last 3 comments, I notice the product description on Amazon says: “In the event of a major leak, GasStop will shut-off 100% of the gas supply immediately”. I’m still going to buy one as it’s worth it just for the gas level indicator and major leak cut off alone. Thanks Dan.

    Nice one Dan, when we picked up our first caravan we had a gas bottle with a gauge, to get hold of another one well it’s easier to get hold of Elvis Presley! So this is perfect. Saves undoing the bottle taking it out of the locker, shaking it. Keith

    Hi Dan, thanks again for the great content. I’m an HVAC engineer (so somewhat qualified to comment). There have been a few products like this for commercial and domestic applications available and they have been mixed in their ability to deal with low flow leaks - normally based on how theY function! E.g if the leak flow rate is lower than the normal gas consumption flow rate of the appliances in the van then the shut-off would not function on most products. A real world low-flow test would be very useful to determine viability. Certainly a viable product though if a reg fails and a pipe blows off or if a loose connection results in a pipe disconnecting completely.

      i will be filming a follow up video to show different examples of a leak and how this can help with a pin hole type leak too.

    Beat me to it. I was going to ask the same question about a slow leak. Can you retest this product please.

    I should add, for viewers not residing in the UK, that non UK bottles might not have a screw fit.

    Going by the FAQ on their own website it would appear not to be of use in detecting small leaks
    " GasStop will not be able to detect minor leaks. GasStop is designed to shut-off in the event of a major leak only"

    Have you tried the hose cut test while around an open flame? Or perhaps even expose the hose to fire and see the device activate?

    what happens with the auto changeover when 2 bottles fitted and the second one kicks in when the first is empty. good test though.

    Could you test this on a smaller leak like a pinhole to see if it works just as well in detecting a leak

    Hi there, it's nice seeing a big cut in the pipe as I see it works on pressure drop but what if it's only a slight hole, just bigger than a pin hole,would it act the same?

    I am having trouble with the gas supply to my caravan. After shutting it down for the winter I don't seem to be able to get the gas flowing again. I have turned the gas on at the cylinder and turned the tap on just behind it. I have also turned on all the taps to the various appliances but no gas is coming through. I can't help thinking I've missed something. Can you help please?

    My gas bottles in my caravan operates with no regulator. I have a gas pipe connects to the fixed connector regulator to the bulkhead. How or where along the pipe route do l connect the gasstop valve?

    Hi Dan, would be interesting to know how accurate the gauge is, I know you have done a video before on how to tell how full your gas is, with the conclusion being it’s expensive if you want accurate readings.
    Regards Steve

    Interesting video Dan, but I have the same question as some other folk - does it work if there is a pinhole leak? That's a far more credible failure scenario for a gas hose than a full bore rupture, I would have thought...

    Hi Dan, I have been listening to your vlog again and think that you need to revisit this important subject, retesting this item and clarifying as to what degree of safety it will provide. At the beginning of your vlog (40 seconds) you give an example gas leak of “a little nick” whereas later in the vlog (2 mins) you mention a major leak. Apart from the cost of this item, I think clarification would be welcomed as to the level of safety this product will actually provide.

      Hi Keith,
      Im going to film follow up video showing more examples, more tests and show how it can help with pin prick leaks too.
      Hopefully if I don't cut my thumb again, i will have that video ready soon.
      Thanks
      Dan

    Hi everyone,
    Thank you all for your great questions. We hope we have answered the major ones below. If not please feel free to head over to our FAQ section on the website, or contact our team directly.
    - Minor leaks: GasStop will not shut-off the supply of gas in the event of a minor leak. The reason being is simple, this would interfere with the “normal” usage/consumption of your gas appliance(s). GasStop would shut-off every time you light up a burner. We have therefore calibrated the device to shut-off for major leaks only.
    - Minor leak testing: GasStop can however be used to test for minor leaks prior to usage (not during). We encourage everyone to carry out something called a lock-up pressure test. Instructions on this test can be found in our instruction booklet and on our FAQ page.
    - The pressure gauge: detailed information on our pressure gauge can be found on our FAQ page online, under the section "Is the Pressure Gauge Useful?". We hope this clarifies everything!
    If Dan is willing we can ask him to demonstrate a lock-up pressure test for you all.
    I hope this helps, please feel free to contact us at any time.

      GasStop Global read the faq, so it’s rubbish as a gauge , never had a gas leak in 20yrs .. £40 is too steep to have a punt

    • @ChrisLewis44
      @ChrisLewis44 6 років тому

      Not sure what you were reading, I read it as the gauge is an indicator of the gas pressure level (amongst other things) and surely this is only a secondary function of the product. I've never crashed my car but I'm glad it has airbags which I hope to never use.

    • @scotia4429
      @scotia4429 6 років тому

      Chris Lewis most gauges of this type are so wildly inaccurate there pointless, as dan pointed out in another video . I would spent £40 on a gauge that actually worked . Will I be buying this product? No , as others have said it won’t detect a small gas leak and the gauge will probably be as useless as other gauges of this type .
