The beach totem has one very specific niche use: festival days. If there's a festival in town, it's the only way to access the beach, and it also puts you fairly close to the town entrance if you're cutting the time short.
I also use a fair few of them before I can purchase the ginger island warp pole, to get to Willy's shop quickly / in time before it closes. It's one of the more useful warp totems IMO, after the desert and farm totems. The ginger island totem is less useful because it's so expensive to craft that it's better to wait until 10 dragon teeth are collected.
@@xxleoproxx7495 I think there's a good amount of people who will construct the shortcuts before most of the obelisks. Especially now that the game is like, twice as long as it used to be when it first released.
I've been trapped in his world for so long that I'm fairly certain I've seen most if not all of them already, and I STILL keep rewatching them anyway. It's inescapable.
Although it's not often applicable, the sonar bobber can be pretty useful with the blessing of waters and challenge bait. It allows to quickly get lots of difficult fish without wasting your blessing on a sunfish. This also makes getting multiple legendary fish less tedious
I love the farm computer personally. The Crops ready in greenhouse and Machines ready are great, because they show you info you would otherwise have to get by walking all around your farm. You could calculate/memorize when they're going to be ready, but that's more mental load in a game where I already run around like a headless chicken trying to get everything done in time.
Yeah, same. I play SDVE and the greenhouse is not by any means close. And with how I set my farm up, I don't have anywhere to move it to because I'm a goose. So, having the computer means saving so many in-game minutes.
i love checking the farm computer and instantly knowing what i have to collect, without having to look around, especially if you use different amounts for each machine then you can instantly know what machine is ready to harvest
same. i thought it was a popular item. now i want survey data on how many players actually use it! i literally keep one right outside my door and check it every morning. it's great for knowing when batches of machines (kegs, crystalariums, etc) in sheds are ready without having to place one machine outside the shed as an indicator. and it tells you when you're running low on hay, which is something i otherwise forget to pay attention to once i have automated feeders.
i try my hardest to make mental notes and keep everything on schedule, but there's ALWAYS something i forget about once i get multiple things going on at once so the farm computer is very helpful!! especially when im playing on console and dont have the infosuite mod and theres even more i have to remember in a week 😭
With fairy dust on the list of things the raccoons can give you, I had enough to take my last batch of starfruit wine from gold to iridium all at once and finish my perfection save like a month faster than I would have otherwise and gosh I am forever grateful
In all honesty, I would've probably even put Quality Retaining Soil below Basic Retaining Soil. It's more expensive to craft/buy, takes longer to unlock and is literally just as pointless, since it has the exact same downside as the basic version. You can still maybe use the basic one to save on energy, which is a somewhat scarce resource in the early game, but by the time you even unlock the quality version you shouldn't have any more energy problems, which basically removes its only use-case.
@SpookiestGuy but deluxe only has a 66% chance to retain water. so you’ll still have to check every single day to make sure the soil is still watered. retaining soil is basically useless if it’s not a 100% chance
@@sanguinesatellite808it's understandable lol. Deluxe Speed-Gro is the 2nd tier of Speed-Gro, and easily the most used of all the fertilizer thanks to the Oasis, so it's easy to mistake Deluxe Retaining Soil and Deluxe Fertilizer as the 2nd tier fertilizer
Heavy furnace is a godsend in late game, perfect for it's placement. Sure 3 coal instead of 5 doesn't sound like a lot, but if you're smelting 200 bars a day, those coal savings stack up. Also obviously the space optimization, instead of having to go to the quarry or use a plot in your farm, the mines have enough space to smelt hundreds of bars at once
Because of the fish smoker, coal became even more valuable for me as well. Saving almost half of it, combined with the coal blessing from the statue, ensures I never run out of it in 1.6. And I always did in 1.5.
Dehydrators are amazing for both blueberries and cranberries, as it makes it so you can effectively procees them. After dehydrating, they sell (a little more than) gold quality with the artisan bonus.
Drying by itself gives gold raw-crop value (eg dried blueberries 400g, gold blueberries 5x75g=375g); Artisan drying is even better than that, and gives iridium raw-crop value (artisan dried blueberry 560g, iridium blueberries 5x100g). But yeah, dehydrators are really good for handling bulk items!
Apart from using it in a sap/mushrom farm, i dont see that much use for it. It great if you you got excess of produce though. I guess im not the only one with most of my worth in chests, cause " imma make a great profit of em, someday"😂 Edit: I forgot raisins for junimo
@@GoalOrientedLifting i personally plant this many blue- and cranberries that i have like 2-3 full stack of 999 crops that i cant process anywhere else in time, so using the dehydrator is a must have for me
i got the quest to ship a ton of cranberries and planted like 50 plants. without the dehydrator it might actually take a year for me to process all of those leftover cranberries lol
@@GoalOrientedLifting mushrooms can be placed in jars to be pickled in 1.6 (a pot of people don't know this apparently) for better value than dehydrator. Dehydrator is OP first year for summer and fall, but once you craft enough machines you have better options
i was gonna try to defend some of the low placements like the geode crusher, before remembering that i play with automate- which makes me realise a lot of these craftables would recieve a major buff by proxy if literally just the hopper got the ability to pull items in vanilla.
i cannot go back to playing without automate. It was like seeing 4k TV from 180p black and white. The game fundamentally changed. I had so much more fun, just dump all my ore in a chest and smelt it. Leave the fruit and wines in a shed and collect it every sunday night. Now i am only setting up the machine, and reaping the benefits, instead of being the grease of the whole operation. Makes late game feel sooooo much better
Even in vanilla I feel like a hopper to store geodes in feeding a geode crusher is fine, once I have finished the museum I’m not in a rush and I can grab the produce a couple times a day if I keep it near my bed
Another excellent use of smoked fish is that they make _pitch perfect_ Luau fodder. The way the Luau reaction is calculated is by taking a look at the base price of the item, then at its quality -- and smoked fish's base price is double that of its origin fish, and smoking it doesn't remove its quality. Smoking any half decent iridium fish is a near guarantee that you'll get the best reaction.
I always save just one cauliflower and get the best reaction anyway. Does the friendship gained goes up even with the best reaction? There should've been a very high reaction only unlockable by a few itens, just using a gold quality spring crop makes it boring for me.
i think the sonar bobber might be good for coop where your fishing time might be valuable since it doesn't pause time. i was contemplating using it while playing with my friend because catfish already take me a hot second to catch
20:49 with my obelisk i always make a “warp hub” on my farm and set up one by my house/farm warp spot and the other by my 4 obelisks, which i usually tuck away in the bottom of my farm
I love the point in the middle of this type of video where you go from justifying how low you ranked something to justifying how high it is. Unironically fascinates me
5:27 i personally would rate farm computer near the top. i use it every day in game to decide what i will do first that day. e.g. if i have a huge harvest ready, then i know not to get my mining stuff out of my chests. i also often have lots of crops that produce multiple harvests in the greenhouse. and i cant always remember what day they will harvest so i have to go down to the greenhouse to check. checking the computer saves me the walk. it is also useful for when i have a large batch of wine in the basement - seeing like 40 machines ready on the computer will remind me to go pick them up. same for remembering that the farm cave exists. justice for the farm computer!
Yeah, I rate the farm computer too To be fair, I play SVE so I have grandpa's shed and the greenhouse to contend with, knowing when to check those buildings instead of having to go manually gives me joy. And using it for machines ready helps too. Some days when you want to do farm admin but also dive the skull cavern, you don't want to waste time searching greenhouse or searching for the processing machines that arent even ready yet. Probably wouldn't put it too high, probably mid table somewhere, since it's literally just gravy, you don't need it for anything but QOL matters
I personally don't care as much for machines that have a turnaround time greater than a couple hours but less than all day, because unless you're going to be hanging nearby, that always rounds up to "whenever I'm getting home". If I want to do morning chores before heading out for mining or fishing until getting home at midnight, there's no difference between three hours and twelve, which, in some cases, can make machines much less profitable than their stats would suggest.
A little correction: you can process Mushrooms in Preserves Jars since 1.6 - and it does give you far more earnings than using the Dehydrator. Dehydrators are really only useful if you have A LOT of produce to process.
Agreed. I use them for blueberries and cranberries since there's no way I'm getting through processing the whole stack with kegs anyways, so at least they can be processed by something. And if you have starfruit or ancient fruit from Ginger Island occupying your kegs anyways, you can use dehydrators for your main farm's crops for some extra money on the side.
The mini forge lets you get away with only ever going to level 1 of the volcano. You really only have to find one dragon tooth because you can make a stingray fish pond to get more. With the volcano also being the only dungeon where staircases are useless thats a pretty big advantage for the combat averse.
True, if you're trying to avoid combat this is useful since you only need to go to the first level. I feel like I almost never find things on the very first level, and due to not being able to reset floors it's hard to "grind" for resources, but def a good unlock for those who don't like combat. And it can give you upgrades to weapons and rings that can make combat easier.
I'd say the Geode crusher is a quality of life luxury item. It's not neccesary but there are definitely times when I had hundreds of geodes lying around in my chests and there was no way I was gonna click for an hour just to open them at Clint.
Itd be waaay better if they could break mystery boxes, their giant useful loot pools are super annoying when you have to run back and forth to clint and your farm
11:23 I never used fairy dust until 1.6. now I get so many of those at the mayor's ticket machine and as a reward from the racoons that it's actually worth it since I don't have to craft them
Mini forge is great if you want to reroll enchantments, you can put it right next to your bed and reset the day if you don't like the enchantments *the roll is set, but you can change items and order of enchanting to change the effect.
I have a nice tip for you regarding the Farm Warp Totem - get a Fish Pond with a Blob Fish - it has a chance to produce them (and make a pretty penny when it doesn't so win-win).
I personally craft the mini-forge as soon as I can. Why? 1. I always drop into the volcano with a clear inventory. 2. The rest of my resources are back at the farm. If I run out of cinder shards or prissies before I can get the enchantment I want, I just go back to my chest. 3. I hate walking. 4. I'm a hoarder. I usually never sell my bars until I have a full stack of them and by the time I got its recipe, I'd already have over 500 of them sitting unused.
It's mind-blowing how much time and effort this video must have taken to make-almost as wild as the fact that you regularly produce such detailed, data-backed content that constantly makes me question everything I'm doing in Stardew Valley!
@lachouette_et_le_phoque I find automate kind of cheaty, so I play with junimatic same concept but everything is locked behind quests and fits my taste but play however you like though! Don't want to step on your toes, it's the magic of modding after all
@@AbdellatifMohamed btw now that it works again I'm trying it and it's so cute, so much better than Automate! Thank you again for the recommendation :)
counter point for the geode crusher, you have to make one for perfection anyways, and it's possible to get one from the skull cavern chests, stone and gold bars are cheap, and if you're getting crystalariums from the skull cavern treasure rooms, and have several making diamonds for money, they're fairly cheap. so then you can do what I do, and have an artisan shed day. smoke all fish that didn't get smoked while you were fishing with it next to you. smelt a bunch of bars, have looms going, recycling machines, the geode crushers and about every other device, and by the time you finish one loop. you can start filling in gaps. granted this does somewhat involve stockpiling several different types of items to make it worth doing all at once and not just over time.
I whould put the tent kit way higher. Usually I use it for long skull cavern runs or something. Just go the day before, sleep at the entrance and go at it. Its pretty good early to mid game, when you dont have a billion totems or obelisks. It really saves some time... The tent kit is also a great item to stay longer in the mines or do stuff a little bit longer. Yeah its maybe a bit expensive, but you are not using it every night. Its overall a pretty good item to have around... (I dont like passing out at night. I try to always avoid it. I know the penalty is pretty minor and its whatever. But I just dont like to pass out in the mines or something. I rather take the extra effort to bring a tent kit hahaha) I play with a friend and we can just all use 1 tent. So its also pretty good for multiple people...
The problem with that method is you can't check the daily luck before hitting the skull caverns. And you can trade 3 omnis for a desert warp totem, so it's really not that hard to get a few and just warp to the desert
Thanks so much for pointing out that more than one can use the tent! I love playing in multiplayer mode and would never have thought of that. I'd just assumed that each player needs her own.😅
You could be playing Stardew Valley on a variety of portable, even pocketable electronics, but then so could I. I'm running the video while playing something else.
Sonar bobbers are great during the fishing derbies, especially in multiplayer, where time doesn't stop while you're fishing. Can't spend half an hour fishing for squids when your day is only twelve to fourteen-ish minutes long because others *aren't* fishing.
I’ve filled whole Ginger island with Deluxe Retaining Soil and ancient seeds. It’s so awesome! That’s why it’s in my top 30 or even higher Oh and the diy greenhouses are awesome
With the geode crusher, it doesn't -just- save the 25g one time, it saves it every time. If you're saving up your geodes and having a farm-heavy day it can be handy as you 1) Save the money from each geode but also save in-game time having to leave. It won't be for every play-style, sure. But it depends heavily on how you play. 🤔
I sometimes use the Farm Computer to check if the farm cave or greenhouse is ready, so I don't need to go over there and check myself. However if you remember when you planted your crops and check the cave occasionally, it's obsolete. Also I don't like the Farm Computer or Marble Brazier recipes since they require museum donations that aren't that common to find. At least you can dupe the marble in the crystellarium...on one of my perfection playthroughs I forgot to save a marble before donating so I had to go thru literally all my frozen geodes to get it for crafting.
You listed that the dehydrator is the only way to process mushrooms. That's not true, you can toss mushrooms in preserve jars. Desert totems time case can also be bypassed if Pam is not available for the day, during her days at the resort or doctor's appointments, but these are special cases so it doesn't detract. Mayo machines fall off for dinos a little bit once you get the artifact sell price power as gold and iridium quality dino eggs outstrip the price of default quality dino mayo
I personally think the Farm computer is useful. I can check on my silo that is all the way at the bottom of my farm without having to run all the way down. And it shows the tilled soil so I know how many crops I need (I refuse to do math for that) I also agree that the dwarf gadged as a crafting item is not good. I wish it got changed.
I have the return scepter, a mini obelisk next to my door, and the other obelisk next to my 4 regular obelisks, meaning i have a Warp-Hub™. In skull cavern? Wanna get to ginger island really fast? Welp with the Warp-Hub™ i can do it in less than 10ingame minutes.
I think the transmute recipes would be more useful if you could do the reverse of them, that way you don't have to grind on mines floors that are lower than what you've already unlocked because, if you've unlocked the lava floors of the mines and have a good pickaxe and weapons its ALWAYS better to get gold ore rather than the other ores if you could make copper or iron out of gold.
I used to use the transmute recipes more when I was worse at the mines. I would need JUST one more bar of something, and being able to craft it out of other bars saved me a long trip to mine more ore.
You’re literally my fav Stardew UA-camr, I rewatch your videos a lot, your guides have been a real help while getting into Stardew, I always go back to them when I need a refresher.
I actually just used the sonar bobber the other day to get the Dorado quickly while using magic bait on a multiplayer game so I could get master angler the same time as a friend on winter year 2 when he just needed the blobfish. Those iffy to tell fish take up a lot of time when you're not using a multiplayer time pause mod.
3:56 and besides you’d still have to go see clint to get golden coconuts and artifact troves open but yeah (I do not remember if this was always the case lol)
This was always the case as far as I know, but now there's mystery boxes which are a lot more common so you're a lot more likely to need to go to Clint's anyway all throughout your playthrough
My main use of challenge bait is for aquatic overpopulation quests that aren't for a specific kind of fish. Challenge bait + cork bobber + barbed hook knocks them out in like 8 casts, assuming you cast your line near the shore so you get lower level fish
I actually use the geo crusher, now I have unlocked it. I've even find I've worked my way through a stack before I would have taken it to Clint, at times. Really, the benefit is not going out of your way and doing haul between your stash and Clint's. Loading processors in the house, on the farm that's daily, going to Clint's isn't.
I love the tea sapling and would rank it as high, one other reason I love it is that as a fence it never decays, I lost a rabbit and a duck on the same day because I hadn’t noticed a broken wall piece! One strong disagreement I have is the warp totems for mountain and farm. The stupidly (irritating, frustrating) short game day means that I frequently forget to visit Robins place on family or Linus birthdays. Having a couple of these and a beach totem means I can zip between ordering another fish pond and giving a gift, zipping down to get a couple of hours fishing at the beach and gifting Willy (I really wish his name was Bill) and finishing the day in the mines. I learned a good few 1.6 update things in this video so many, many thanks.
Something that I'm surprised concerned ape hasn't nerfed is that you should basically never put any fruit into wine barrels once you unlock the desert. You can buy honey on Friday for less than the base sell price of mead. A single keg can make 2 mead a day. You can skyrocket your money and essentially always have something to stick in your kegs with no farm land being devoted to the task.
cause is not that good of a method. if you have enough kegs to the point where youd get good money from that, you also have the farmland most likely and be able to get like 10x the profit
@GrandEWN two honey batches a day results in 440 gold per keg. Starfruit wine yields less that 400 gold a day. Accounting for seed cost and value added by the keg, starfruit is 2125 gold/ 6.25 days. So no. Adding cask profit brings it up to about 400 gold a day. Of course this is a lot less labor intensive, so it makes sense for the average player to prefer starfruit.
@GrandEWN so mead is 440 gold compared to 340 for the starfruit since you'll fill your casks very quickly with their long process time of a year. Mead is a quarter that and a popular gift as well. But honey is actually more profitable without needing casks at all.
The problem is, that this requires a.) Having enough money to buy the honey for a weeks worth of kegs at once up front, and b.) Assumes that you would be babysitting the kegs each day. Whereas with star fruit or ancient fruit, you put the fruit in once a week and can spend the rest of the week fishing or spelunking or trying to get Shane to cough up the blue chickens. It's simply not worth my time for a slightly better money margin
@@LadyKEM in game time isn't actually passing while you interact with machines, so it doesn't take much in game time to load your kegs. I would agree that this is much more labor intensive and discussed that already. But it is a nice alternative to farming for people like myself that feel that farming is just too profitable in the normal game play. I and many others prefer to not use farming too much due to it just being overpowered. But kegs are definitely not the best gold per day. Dehydrators absolutely demolish kegs in gold per day. Assuming you only process base starfruit, they turn a 757 gold per day profit per fruit. Gold fruit still wins at 345 a day. So I don't know why every still thinks kegs are the meta. So not only are they higher yield, they're easy to mass produce and can actually outpace your production. Aside from making gift items, I don't really use kegs anymore. I make small forest of mushroom logs on non-farmland and make 2 dehydrator sheds. They can easily compete with a farm's production. Unlike kegs that will have your chests overflowing with unprocessed items.
So happy to see crab pots actually get some love for a change, especially in combination with the recycling machines. Also, you can put driftwood in a wood chipper to get about the same as you would get from hardwood making them a nice way to get wood in the winter. Lastly they're also great for sashimi
5:06 I find the farm computer to be super useful for one specific reason: foragables. You can place the computer in the Cindersap Forest, Pelican Town, etc. and see how many foragables there are. This is only really useful when you really need foragables, but for George's Leek quest it was a game-changer. Other than that it's not particularly useful except for saving you from walking all around your farm to see different stats, but the foragables thing is notable imo.
My plan for the leek quest is to preplant spring wild seeds on Ginger Island in large numbers, waiting to harvest leeks until the quest comes up. Hope it works!
Truly a lot (or at least a couple) of these items would be better if the Automate mod were in vanilla, or at least if there were ways to automate those items specifically. A bait maker is useful if you can automatically put the bait into crab pots (and collect the fish automatically). A geode crusher is useful if you can just shove the geodes into a chest and leave it to run while you go do something else. They feel like pieces of an automation setup in a game without automation in it. Same with a hopper but you talked about that in the video, it should be able to pull things but as it is its pretty useless. It automatically inserts things, cool. But you still have to pull the products out of the machine, which means you're already over there, which means you might as well insert the items manually. It doesn't save you time, or if it does it saves maximum a few seconds.
A real shame is that there is literally already a means of automation via hoppers, but they just can’t take out items. I really think hoppers should get that functionality, it would make for some interesting contraptions, or at least give players an option of using only kegs for mass production or using kegs and hoppers for less production but more automation.
My favorite use for hoppers is situations where there's a lot of individual items that need processing but don't stack together. The best example is fish smokers. It's annoying to have to sort through a whole chest of fish with different qualities, take them out, and then process them, but with the hopper you can just load it up with some coal, dump all your fish in there, and you don't need to think about which fish comes next. However, this is a very niche use and I wish it worked like in Minecraft. With that you could go auto-grabber > mayo machine > chest to entirely automate farming. Would be way more worth the radioactive bar.
I'm so with you fish smokers! I set up like 2 lava eel fish ponds on my farm and just plop those extra bad boys in whenever I'm running around. The fact that it gets so many buffs (and like you said its multiplicative) it just makes it so much fun to use imo!! Definitely slept on but such a great item! :')
I always play on the beach farm, so my vision is skewed for 'normal' play, BUT I really would expect Deluxe Retaining Soil to be higher. I feel like the time wasted on watering every single plot of land is sometimes a large chore, and MY personal playstyle enjoys having FOREVER crops (like ancient fruit, blueberries, etc.) make fruits forever without needing to check in every day and water is very nice! I know sprinklers exit but Beach farm life is hard I'm probably just biased, but I LOVE unlocking the retaining soil and planting it because then I never need to go water again, it's a 1 and done situation! Combine that with garden pots and it sounds like a fun time to me Decent tier list though!
I would like to add 2 things about this: 1. the sonar bobber is a must have in multiplayer, i would take it over any other bobber all day every day in multiplayer, except for just starting and trying to get cc fish where i need a diverse lot, and even then id eventually switch. 2. the cork bobber and trap bobber, though similar, do serve more purposes. the cork bobber is objectively worse for catching difficult fish as it is a flat increase of 3 levels of bar size, whereas trap bobber is a 33% easier fish. however, the cork bobber is better for perfecting fish every time, so personally, i go cork bobber for easier fish to perfect them, trap bobber for the actually difficult fish. Love the video though! just wanted to clarify it
0:58 ok I had to pause the video and come here to comment because I was just rewatching your beach farm playthrough... Specifically the episode where you up the combat level, get the ring of yoba recipe, say it's a very good item and proceeds to craft and wear it on a skull cavern run 😅 guess you're way more experienced now
“It doesn’t feel like I’m truly playing Stardew Valley until I get a Glowstone Ring.” This is EXACTLY the problem I face every new play - ‘why can’t I see at night and why am I not picking up what I should?’ The inventory space, I expect. The lack of funds, a fun challenge. The No-Glowstone Ring? Disappointing, if not infuriating! Could not agree more with you!
8:00 You actually do have the ability to avoid the volcano (for the most part) when using the Mini Forge. You can get Dragon Teeth and Cinder Shards from fish ponds full of Stingrays. You need a lot of Stingrays, but they're not terribly difficult to get.
the only one i disagree with is the heavy furnace! you use less coal (3 per smelt) and there’s a 50% chance of gaining an extra bar on smelting completion, as in 6 as opposed to the standard 5. personally i like these buffs since they make the cost of the heavy furnace worth it.
Farm computer is very useful. Put it next to your bed, check first thing in the morning if you need go to your greenhouse, if you need to check on machines in sheds or if your crops are spread out on your farm, whether you need to check on all the crop areas. Sets you up well if you're planning something like a mining run or that day.
18:05 maybe you found out already, but mushrooms can now be pickled in jars too. For higher profits than than the dehydrator. So the dehydrator is only good for mass processing fruit early game, later you should have the capacity to keg/jar everything.
I absolutely love dehydrators! I set up a farm to primarily make dehydrated mushrooms and it took a while to get going but once it did it made so much money
Deluxe fertilizer is awesome when combined with sweet gem berries (which can't be turned into wine). My sweet gem army and multitude of seed makers rejoice in iridium quality (you will need to turn lower quality ones into seeds)
One thing you didnt mention for the sonar bobber is that its kind of ok in multiplayer since time doesnt pause, even then i wouldnt change its placement though. I was so dissapointed with this item, i thought it would show the fish before hooking it saving time on recasts if your going for a specific one.
The beach totem has one very specific niche use: festival days. If there's a festival in town, it's the only way to access the beach, and it also puts you fairly close to the town entrance if you're cutting the time short.
exactly. you can go to the desert and warp directly to the festival/nightmarket
In the lategame you can also use the forest shortcut to get to the beach.
@@umyum3858*in the late game*
The late game is also then, when you already have obelisks and don’t really need beach totems.

Sonar bobber is insanely useful in multiplayer where ingame time = real time. Half the fishing events and quests are barely possible without it tbh!
and in single player, at least they can be sold for 500 gold or so.
@@lachouette_et_le_phoque iirc they sell for 250. Not that great, but not too bad.

One nice thing about the deluxe scarecrow is that it can cover a full Junimo hut plot by itself, vs. having to put two normal scarecrows on the sides.

FARM COMPUTER GEEKS RISE UP!! :D
same. i thought it was a popular item. now i want survey data on how many players actually use it! i literally keep one right outside my door and check it every morning.
it's great for knowing when batches of machines (kegs, crystalariums, etc) in sheds are ready without having to place one machine outside the shed as an indicator. and it tells you when you're running low on hay, which is something i otherwise forget to pay attention to once i have automated feeders.
i try my hardest to make mental notes and keep everything on schedule, but there's ALWAYS something i forget about once i get multiple things going on at once so the farm computer is very helpful!! especially when im playing on console and dont have the infosuite mod and theres even more i have to remember in a week 😭
With fairy dust on the list of things the raccoons can give you, I had enough to take my last batch of starfruit wine from gold to iridium all at once and finish my perfection save like a month faster than I would have otherwise and gosh I am forever grateful
Love the " if you wanna fight me, then fight me" in that voice lmao
i believe it’s a vine reference
@@shiraschwarts5277 i miss vine i remember when it was popular

The smile in his voice in "I /love/ crab pots" was SO good
In all honesty, I would've probably even put Quality Retaining Soil below Basic Retaining Soil.
Deluxe plus Garden pots in a shed with crops that don't need to be replanted will only ever need to be watered once and never again.
Has it's uses
@SpookiestGuy but deluxe only has a 66% chance to retain water. so you’ll still have to check every single day to make sure the soil is still watered. retaining soil is basically useless if it’s not a 100% chance
ignore me. i confused deluxe and quality. deluxe does have a 100% chance. whoops
really wish retaining soils worked differently
Even if the cost of using heavey furnaces was slightly _more_ expensive it would still be worth compressing your furnace stacks five-fold.
Also, the chance for an extra bar??!? Now THAT is great
@@eugenie8661 Didn't even know about that. Heavy furnace really should be higher than it is.
Where was it placed? I missed whwre he put it@@Porkey_Minch
I guess im not the only one with most of my worth in chests, cause " imma make a great profit of em, someday"😂
Edit: I forgot raisins for junimo
I'm ready for my monthly reminder of why worm bin is garbage.
i was gonna try to defend some of the low placements like the geode crusher, before remembering that i play with automate- which makes me realise a lot of these craftables would recieve a major buff by proxy if literally just the hopper got the ability to pull items in vanilla.
Now I'm upset to know that that's not one of the things added in the update 😢 I was hopeful despite not hearing about it
i cannot go back to playing without automate.
Automate is a top 10 craftable, despite not being an in-game item.
I’m using automate on my latest farm and it changes everything! 🏆
Gold and iridium count the same! You only need gold quality, so don’t even have to worry about a perfect catch
0:42 iconic
Yeah, I rate the farm computer too
To be fair, I play SVE so I have grandpa's shed and the greenhouse to contend with, knowing when to check those buildings instead of having to go manually gives me joy.
Farm cave… thanks for reminding me!!
Dehydrators are really only useful if you have A LOT of produce to process.
yeahhhh
It is also necessary for raisins, which is one of the strongest items in the game.
@@PeterTeal77 yeah, but you don't need more than one Dehydrator for that and you do need to craft one anyway for perfection 🤷🏼♀️
@@alicjak700 yeah fair point, but in the ranking of craftables they should be high even for that one use.
And it can give you upgrades to weapons and rings that can make combat easier.
that's a neat idea, I love how the added complexity of more content makes it possible to play the game in different ways, or add various challenges
I reroll to get different frog egg colors lol
@@radioactiveferrets this is the anvil but i agree with your point
I have a nice tip for you regarding the Farm Warp Totem - get a Fish Pond with a Blob Fish - it has a chance to produce them (and make a pretty penny when it doesn't so win-win).
this is how i'm getting my farm warps it's so useful not having to buy them
I personally craft the mini-forge as soon as I can. Why?
Damn, I realized how much I offset the cons of most of these items using mods
Thank you SMAPI and stardew modding community
yeah, the Automate mod alone makes several of the machines worth it
Geode Crusher + Automate is incredible
@lachouette_et_le_phoque
I find automate kind of cheaty, so I play with junimatic
same concept but everything is locked behind quests and fits my taste
but play however you like though! Don't want to step on your toes, it's the magic of modding after all
I made it so that automate used crystal quartz floor tiles and it offset it a bit
@@AbdellatifMohamed btw now that it works again I'm trying it and it's so cute, so much better than Automate! Thank you again for the recommendation :)
Have I already listened to this vid three times since its release today? Yes. You have the calmest and most informative sdv content.
counter point for the geode crusher, you have to make one for perfection anyways, and it's possible to get one from the skull cavern chests, stone and gold bars are cheap, and if you're getting crystalariums from the skull cavern treasure rooms, and have several making diamonds for money, they're fairly cheap. so then you can do what I do, and have an artisan shed day. smoke all fish that didn't get smoked while you were fishing with it next to you. smelt a bunch of bars, have looms going, recycling machines, the geode crushers and about every other device, and by the time you finish one loop. you can start filling in gaps.
granted this does somewhat involve stockpiling several different types of items to make it worth doing all at once and not just over time.
What really puts the crusher down for me it is the fact it doesn't work with "alternative" geodes, aka golden coconuts, artifact and mystery boxes.
For the algorithm, more thanks for providing great background for my workday. Can't wait for episode 23 of the SVE playthrough!
I get why they’re in the middle for vanilla, but dehydrators and salal berries in stardew valley expanded are honestly a match made in heaven
It's ying yang
I rather take the extra effort to bring a tent kit hahaha)
I play with a friend and we can just all use 1 tent.
I'd just assumed that each player needs her own.😅
Thank You! I learned two things I didn't know. I love crab pots, recycler machine, and dehydrator
Need to kill some time while paint dries and the opening already has me laughing.
Beats having to literally watch paint dry, I'm sure!
Sal, your videos are an excellent source of comfort after what just happened in the US.
Personally i use the beach totem a TON when I first get ginger island unlocked preobelisk because it cuts so much travel time off
I’ve filled whole Ginger island with Deluxe Retaining Soil and ancient seeds. It’s so awesome! That’s why it’s in my top 30 or even higher
Oh and the diy greenhouses are awesome
With the geode crusher, it doesn't -just- save the 25g one time, it saves it every time. If you're saving up your geodes and having a farm-heavy day it can be handy as you 1) Save the money from each geode but also save in-game time having to leave. It won't be for every play-style, sure. But it depends heavily on how you play. 🤔
I want all the rings to get reworked tbh
Fr they need like stats
just wait for margo to get fully updated, whenever that happens
@@AbdellatifMohamed margo?
And it shows the tilled soil so I know how many crops I need (I refuse to do math for that)
I also agree that the dwarf gadged as a crafting item is not good.
Wow
I’ve been watching this channel for YEARS now! I LOVE it lol!
40:26 i thought that star shard was a cinder shard and got excited how dare you do that 😭
3:56 and besides you’d still have to go see clint to get golden coconuts and artifact troves open but yeah (I do not remember if this was always the case lol)
Heavy furnace uses 3 coal and 25 ore and has a 50% chance to give 6 bars
hes been COOKING
Very useful, thank you! Also, your voice is very soothing and pleasant to listen to😊 Keep up the good work!
For the oil maker, I like it when it rains so I use the truffle oil for rain totems. YES it's expensive, but I really like rain.
So happy to see crab pots actually get some love for a change, especially in combination with the recycling machines. Also, you can put driftwood in a wood chipper to get about the same as you would get from hardwood making them a nice way to get wood in the winter. Lastly they're also great for sashimi
treasure hunter bobber is even better once you have a deconstructor, bc you can just deconstruct and re-craft it every time it's about to wear out 😂
5:06 I find the farm computer to be super useful for one specific reason: foragables.
Hope it works!
the Proverb, has me dying laughing. my gods sal please.
Basically need a processor auto grabber, conveyer belt, junimo, something.
I'm tempted to automate mod, but it seems too much for me
Agree with almost all except beach totem. That is way more useful than alot of these
Agreed, it's great to make it to Willy's shop quickly in order to get to ginger island
@@lachouette_et_le_phoque Exactly! Especially cause the hunger island totem takes some time to get
I'm so with you fish smokers!
I know sprinklers exit but
Beach farm life is hard
I'm probably just biased, but I LOVE unlocking the retaining soil and planting it because then I never need to go water again, it's a 1 and done situation! Combine that with garden pots and it sounds like a fun time to me
Decent tier list though!
I know I'm a little bit late to this video, but 'It's an iridium sprinkler. It sprinkles iridiumly.' made me laugh so hard I cried.
Love the breakdown on every item!
Love the video though! just wanted to clarify it
5:15 I use the farm computer all the time to check how many machines are ready. Is this not a normal thing??
I love the iridium band, I started up a new world and found one in early in my first year! Honestly one of the best days ever
I love every single one of your analyses videos 😭😭😭😭
I love your videos because they keep me entretrained while I eat
0:58 ok I had to pause the video and come here to comment because I was just rewatching your beach farm playthrough... Specifically the episode where you up the combat level, get the ring of yoba recipe, say it's a very good item and proceeds to craft and wear it on a skull cavern run 😅 guess you're way more experienced now
I was very excited when I first got the Ring of Yoba ... and then I realized that its special power never activated for me.
That was way before I learned the actual chance of it activating lol

8:00 You actually do have the ability to avoid the volcano (for the most part) when using the Mini Forge. You can get Dragon Teeth and Cinder Shards from fish ponds full of Stingrays. You need a lot of Stingrays, but they're not terribly difficult to get.
the only one i disagree with is the heavy furnace! you use less coal (3 per smelt) and there’s a 50% chance of gaining an extra bar on smelting completion, as in 6 as opposed to the standard 5. personally i like these buffs since they make the cost of the heavy furnace worth it.
The Sonar bober is better in multiplayer because the time is not stopped when you are fishing.
This is amazing, thank you Sir! Why doesn't UA-cam have a love button, so the premium stuff can be recognised amongst the average stuff?
Farm computer is very useful. Put it next to your bed, check first thing in the morning if you need go to your greenhouse, if you need to check on machines in sheds or if your crops are spread out on your farm, whether you need to check on all the crop areas. Sets you up well if you're planning something like a mining run or that day.
18:05 maybe you found out already, but mushrooms can now be pickled in jars too. For higher profits than than the dehydrator. So the dehydrator is only good for mass processing fruit early game, later you should have the capacity to keg/jar everything.
Should not have been as excited as I was to see this. Needed some new Sal, just on time!
I absolutely love dehydrators! I set up a farm to primarily make dehydrated mushrooms and it took a while to get going but once it did it made so much money
cackled when you specified this is OBJECTIVE. you’re my favorite 💀😭
Deluxe fertilizer is awesome when combined with sweet gem berries (which can't be turned into wine).
My sweet gem army and multitude of seed makers rejoice in iridium quality (you will need to turn lower quality ones into seeds)
Finally, someone appreciating the Glowstone ring for what an MVP it is.
The farm analyzer is useful, for coop specifically it’s great to know what still needs done so everyone can go off and do what they wanted to faster
Recyclers should rank higher, simply because if you don't need to smelt quartz you can trade them all for more bombs!!!
One thing you didnt mention for the sonar bobber is that its kind of ok in multiplayer since time doesnt pause, even then i wouldnt change its placement though. I was so dissapointed with this item, i thought it would show the fish before hooking it saving time on recasts if your going for a specific one.
Love these videos bc you make me wanna use items i have never wanted to try…. ima do something crazy like pick the crab pot profession next time ‼️👀
I am counting the days for the console update!!! These videos are keeping me sane 😂
I might have sdv for every console I own (PC included), I just wanna 100% it on my switch
Every time I hear that Makna Forest theme music I mysteriously get the urge to go run to gather water to save a bird lady
