Correction as to the proxy thing: a VPN and a proxy are actually pretty much equivalent in this case, though it's still really weird how they choose to advertise it falsely. It's probably because people are aware of the term "VPN", and they are not aware of the term "proxy", so it's easier to advertise it as a feature. There also seems to be a lot of confusion about how VPNs and IP addresses work. The only thing a VPN (or a proxy, in this case) does is allowing you to connect to the internet from a different place, and the connection to that place is secure. That doesn't mean, however, that the connection from that place to the internet is secure. So, if your connection to UA-cam was insecure, using a VPN would only mean that you are making this insecure connection from the VPN provider's network, to which your connection is secure, but that doesn't make it secure. But guess what - that HTTPS thing, the one most websites nowadays enforce, secures your connection already, so VPN or no VPN, you are good anyways, making using VPNs for "security" mostly pointless (there are cases where using a VPN might be _less insecure_ than not using it, if your connection isn't secure already, ie. no HTTPS). IP addresses on the other hand are, by design of the internet, public information that you are meant to share with everyone. It's necessary that a website knows your IP address for you to connect to it. The only issue with sharing your IP address is that it's possible to get your _general_ location (which is often very inaccurate) based on it, and you _might_ want to avoid that, in which case using a VPN makes sense (the VPN provider will still know your IP address, though). My credentials: I deal with networking, I guess.
I see… So if you use a VPN you’re like a prisoner that escaped prison and is on the move, but you’re still on a watch list and you still have a criminal record.
The IP address location thing is always hilarious to me. Even Steam displays your location, or at least what it *thinks* your location is, when you log in. But in my case, it ALWAYS thinks I'm on the literal other side of my country from my actual location, it never once got it right in the many years I've been using it. It is also never consistent, providing different locations every time, but never my actual location.

Fun fact: the regular Opera browser is running on the latest chromium version meanwhile Opera GX doesn't, so it isn't secure and worst of all doesn't block any ads. Idk why you would use this browser unironically when even the regular Opera browser, which openly admitted to selling your data, would even be on the latest chromium version Edit: Just found out that Opera (the main browser) is based in the Netherlands so I'll take the privacy concern accusation back 💀
The reason Opera GX doesn't work on the latest Chromium version is because the last chromium version was only made to make adblocking more difficult. One of Opera GX's main features is the built in adblock, so of course they wouldn't update. The OG Opera browser is basically abandonware their main focus is on GX. Also Opera's built in adblock DOES work it just doesn't block EVERYTHING. No adblocker is perfect and it's a constant cat and mouse chase between adblockers and ad companies to get past each other's pop ups and blocks. The only way to block ALL ads is to use multiple adblockers but that can be a hassle with sites that use anti-adblocker popups.

I challenged myself to do my daily browsing routine on Opera GX for a month instead of Firefox back in 2022. Firefox gave me no issues, but Opera GX? Blue Screen of Death just while trying to open all my tabs on Day 0, which didn't even count towards the challenge yet. BSoD from trying to watch UA-cam while playing a video game on Day 1... three times. Got 7 BSoDs on Day 2 from trying to stream Netflix. Already more than a few months worth of BSoDs in just 3 days. My challenge was slated to end on January 1st of 2023. It got forcibly ended on December 22nd of 2022 when my SSD died, 5 years earlier than it should have. It didn't just corrupt all of my data - it zeroed out all of the data. It was completely gone. I had to buy a new SSD and beg family members to help me recover any and all files I had ever sent to them. I've been keeping physical and cloud-based backups ever since.
I've been using Opera GX for 2-3 years now and never had those issues. I've only had issues with school databases (who block everything that isn't chrome/edge for "security reasons") and the brief period of time where Opera implimented an experimental "ad skipper" when blocking UA-cam ads which sometimes crashed the page when attempting a skip, which was only done because of Google's dystopian anti-adblock protocol on UA-cam. And even then those were single tab crashes, not browser crashes or full system corruptions. Opera even keeps my tabs when I restart my computer!
My shitty laptop with 8gigs ram and 500GB SSD that’s mostly taken up is able to run it perfectly fine even with mods to make it look and sound like the PlayStation 2 menu. You have to consider your hardware, not JUST the software. I see that this isn’t a rare problem though
While I despise OGX that's most likely a very funny coincidence. I would guess that your SSD was just faulty and gave in. I've had no problems trying it out on a 4GB Ram, Core 2 Quad Q6600 PC with a pretty cheap SSD.

Half of dude's argument was that he personally didnt like the ascetic of the browser (which is the whole point of why you can customize it) and how its not the same as every other browser because certain icons and shit looked different or were placed differently (shocker, a different browser than what you are used to is different) That one comment about the sound effects and shit had me dying too, like bro if you dont like it just turn it off thats the whole point lmao Same with the performance thing, the whole point of gx is that its customizable and yoy can choose how much cpu and memory its using, as well as boosting its performance to fit how you need it... but actually for the sake of "testing" lets just forget all that exists because the other ones im testing dont have those and hey wow a extremely tiny difference that i can shove my character over and yell about how much worse gx is!

Cant your ip address be used to ddos you?
@@aguy3129 Not really, unless you're running some kind of server on an open port or something. DDOSing also requires quite a lot of hardware, so your attacker would have to be a serious weirdo to attempt to DDOS a random person for no gain whatsoever.
@@aguy3129 It is hard for anyone that wants to ddos you to get your IP, even ignoring the difficulties of actually ddosing someone. The only way they can get it is if you go to an ip grabber or a website they control, or if you have a p2p connection to them. In which case, just unplug your modem and plug it back in and just don't use the thing they got your IP from again.

I'm using ogx right now ( mostly for the tab organisation ) and yeah for real what's with the cult ? It literally is just a browser. All the sponsorships make me cringe so hard.
Fun fact: the regular Opera browser is running on the latest chromium version meanwhile Opera GX doesn't, so it isn't secure and worst of all doesn't block any ads. Idk why you would use this browser unironically when even the regular Opera browser, which openly admitted to selling your data, would even be on the latest chromium version
Edit: Just found out that Opera (the main browser) is based in the Netherlands so I'll take the privacy concern accusation back 💀
The reason Opera GX doesn't work on the latest Chromium version is because the last chromium version was only made to make adblocking more difficult.
In terms of Adblockers, I don't know anything about GX's because I never downloaded it, but Ublock on firefox seems to me like it blocks everything
except it can actually block ads? what are you on about, bro?
@@miraqen7801At least for me, it doesn't anymore. I still got ads on YT while using Opera GX. Maybe the adblock got updated after I uninstall, but while I was still using it it definitely doesn't block ads

Damn, sorry for your loss.
I've had no problems trying it out on a 4GB Ram, Core 2 Quad Q6600 PC with a pretty cheap SSD.
my dude. I have all 180 tabs opened on my 8gb ddr3 ram laptop that I have been using since 12 years ago, I find no such issue. Your hardware simply sucked ass.

Gamer drinks? What a joke
Gaming chair? Probably the least offender of all. It's actually less confortable than real chairs. It's designed after racing car seat, it's designed to hold you in place, not confort.... Except you don't move. What's even the point?
From what I've seen, most gamers have 0 idea on what they buy or own, that's why any company can get away with anything as long as they stroke their ego, comparing the customer to some esport gods or something
Why the hell you'd need anything beyond a coffee to sit in place and play games is beyond me. Also gaming headsets are dogshit, and keyboard are just useless
Gaming laptop are pretty fine though, its the norm here for gaming, content creation and design stuff
The chairs are "okay" I use one because I got it for a fairly cheap price, cuz it was a "new used" thing on fb marketplace and it's comfortable enough. The rest of those though, yeah they're usually dissapointing, especially headsets they tend to be really uncomfortable from all of the headsets my friends own and I've tried when hanging out, I just bought a nice pair of openback headphones instead that are just way more cozy on my noggin
@@aguy3129Gaming keyboards are good though? They are more affordable than good office keyboards and generally don't have any real downsides. My current like 6 year old gaming keyboard cost 40€ and it started having issues this year. An office keyboard that's mechanical and has similar anti-ghosting capabilities would've run me at least 100€.
Gaming headsets are another thing that's just fine. They're designed with video game soundscapes in mind after all. I don't use them personally as I don't play a lot of games where audio cues are important. However when I do play them I can't hear as well as my friends who have gaming headsets as mine has a more neutral soundscape. So a lot of bassy sounds aren't audible for me at the same distance, since my headphones don't have absurd bass boost

But hey- it's fine, because you agreed to the terms by downloading and installing the program.
Opera, while the "main company" sits in Norway, the actual head company which basically controls everything is sat in China,
"Kunlin-tech" and it's daughter firm "Kunlin-tech-limited" are both sat in China, which then in turn the daughter firm also has a daughter firm called "Opera-Limited", which are the ones sat in Norway who make OperaGX.
It's a corporate level pyramid scheme to trick governments.
And that "unknown entity" does in fact exist too...
Brexit was a mistake.
I started used gx for the preformance and i heard about the tab island feature, which after a while i realized gx just... didnt have? Which is insane cus imo thats the best freature of opera, so i switched to base opera, and after a while of that i look into sailing the high seas and what browsers, vpns and stuff to use, and see people panning opera for privacy concerns and i see this other browser vivaldi has a similar to tab island feature that i actually like better, so im quite happily using vivaldi now. I have a theme that is a Kenyan soil quality map that has custom icons and has no reason to go as hard as it does. While im at it, how vivaldi handles its workspaces feature and the general handling of dragging tabs around, merging them, and thay sort of thing are superior as well, at least for my preference. I create blank windows on accident VASTLY less with vivaldi.
My entire GX experience was "just be a browser for fuck's sake"
Suuuper underrated channel! This is million-sub-level quality!
Gotta hate OperaGX, and Raid Shadow Legends
Raid Shadow Legends is stinky
