George-Really impressed by the thought you guys put into this truck. Efficiency is the name of the game, and you guys are proving that bigger isn't always better. Would really like to pick your brain about starting a new lawn service in San Antonio TX.
If you where a new start up in 2016, what would your setup look like if you where limited to a truck (08 Chevy Colorado) pulling a small enclosed trailer and $20,000 (willing to increase) for equipment and expenses?
We really like them, i think there a lot easier on the equipment , plus the equipment doesn't flip upside down, thus it doesn't flood out, like other racks. hence, less pulls to get started ! not to mention the easy lock up ability.
I gotta say that is a nice custom design ya got there. Question is where do you put your debris? Im assuming you dont put a trailer on the back otherwise you couldnt really get your mower out. Do you dump on site?
This setup is great man, I sometimes see guys with a huge truck the whole summer and all they are carrying is a chopper and a few handhelds. Huge waste of fuel. That ranger is easier to park too
+G Packard I spent a few years going with a HD truck with a steel full width ramp that mounted to the trailer hitch and was supported by the tailgate in the down position. Worked great. Only negative was load/unload time took an extra minute or so. Plus of course you were limited to one primary mower and one trim mower. Felt safer and easier to maneuver in tight areas. A HD truck with an 8' bed provides a little more floor space and has the capacity to maneuver safety with the load on. You could put two stand-ons on that or one ZTR and one stand-on or 21".
thanks for sharing your success, because i was considering a big truck to start my own landscaping company, you have already hit the road i know what really works. you got a new subscriber. GOD BLESS
Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate you subscribing to my channel, and if there's anthying you would like me to discuss, just leave me a comment and i'll do my best to do it for you.
I have been using a similar setup for years. I have a Ranger and put racks on it. I just use 2 Toro 21's and go after small lawns. I use a couple of fold up ramps, have room for a backpack blower also. He is correct, once you use this setup you will never go back to a big truck and trailer. Gas has become a non issue now. The one galon tank on the Toro will mow a ton of lawns. At most I put in about 10 dollars a day between mowers and truck, I can easily get 10 or so $35 dollars lawns a day done with this setup by myself. It is so much easier getting in and out of neiborhoods and through traffic. At the end of the day I just pull in to my garage and its ready for the next day. I am surprised more guys don't do it.
If we have to haul any debris away, we charge them for this, and we'll send a bigger truck if needed, or just put it in this one and come back for the mower later, remember, were charging them for this. but usually, 99%n of the time we put debris in there containers which are then hauled to the road for waste management to pick up. or in a pile by the road , which they will pick up also. hope this helps.
awsome setup, ive owned 4 rangers over the years and they have all made it around 200000 miles. The service parts are cheap and the 4 liter v6 is easy to work on because they have the plugs on the outside of the cylinder heads, iron block helps too
First of all, that is a thing of beauty! What are the dimensions of that mower? I'm just wondering if bed of the truck is large enough for the bigger models of mower. Thanks!
ANother question George. Did you have to modify the fuel filler on the ranger? My rangers fuel filler neck runs inside the bed a bit so the welder will have to build a small box around it. Does that make sense??
Hey George! Can you make a vidoe of how you installed the flat bed into the ranger? I want to do do the same for next year but I have no idea how you did it! Can you do something explainable so I can show it to a welder? Thank you!
New to your videos. Love them so far. Could you make an in depth video on exactly how you set up the ranger? As in all the steps, costs, where to buy the stuff and where to get it installed. What im most interested in is how you custom made the bed with the gate. Im 18 and am planning to explan my lawn business that ive had since i was 15 so im really looking for ways to be efficient and the way i see your set up is EXCELLENT! Thanks a lot.
Lawn guy from NW Indiana, like the trailer set up. Can't find a close place who makes these beds. Closest place was Tennessee. Can you help me out? You being from Wisconsin, thought maybe there's a closer place for myself to have one installed. Thanks.
+Mike Kristek your best bet is to find a local welder in your neighborhood and talk with them. there has to be someone who can do this for you. worst case, if you can't find anyone, i could hook you up with a guy from my town in Antigo Wi. ?
I've watched this video like 10000 times over. how do I go about getting one of those custom beds for my truck? who builds them? feel free to private message me. I'm in texas.
I never imagined someone coming up with such good use for a small truck in this industry. It's absolutely awesome, good thinking on that. I'll use Chevrolet though.
Have you had any issues with the extra payload on the Ranger, regarding brakes, suspension, etc? Our trailers guys are so reluctant to do this to our F-150. Either way, I am very impressed with your set up. Great job!
are you kidding ? we love our new set ups ! your trailer guys ? seems to me they want to sell you trailers ? Our guy's actually prefer the Ranger Over the Dodge . Just make sure you add a a couple of Leaf spring or heavy duty shocks to it. sure it seems a little heave but I will never go back to a trailer ! and you won't either, I promise !
Thanks for the response. I meant to say "my guys who may modify my f150". They don't sell trailers. I just didn't want to overload the truck, that's all.
G Packard Thanks George. I am in the process of looking for a used ranger. Wasn't sure if I should go with the 4 or 6. I will look for the 4. I got a quote on a similar bed for $2000. Unfortunatley I only have enough money for a late 90's early 2000's model with some miles. But if it gets me through 1 season, I'll be happy. It will just make things so much easier. Thanks for sharing and replying.
Very cool Video thanks for sharing..... we are looking at adding a s10 or Ranger to our small fleet this season I have looked on so many videos yours I gotta say is the real deal. My main question , Do you have anything to support the weight of the mower / mowers As we will be making this bed in our shop too . Thanks again OneLove
+Brandon Ivy we build them ourselves, and every truck design will be different do to the ever changing body styles . there almost a design build as you go.
Excellent concept. I love it. I believe i am going to build the same thing only I'm going to do it on my dually and eliminate the need for a trailer for that specific crew.
Hi George, I have a Ford Ranger that I work from. I have already been toying w the idea of going w a flatbed for our business. I am wondering about the bed itself. Is it custom or did you purchase it from a dealer?
Martin Garcia hi Im not sure if you built your fold down gate. I had one built for my dodge Dakota truck its great I kept the same bed And hooked all my equipment in it.
So organized. I used to do landscaping and I wish the owner of that company was as thoughtful as you. He's a good guy, but no where near as organized and comfort-driven. I may have stayed in landscaping if I was working with you.
G Packard Ive had a desk job for a few years now; I'm sure I'd be fat and worthless! If I move back to Florida I'll fill out an application after I check with my doctor to see if I'm healthy enough for physical activity. ;) Keep up the nice work. Awesome trucks.
I noticed for the backpack blowers, u use the echo pb 265. How come yall don't use the bigger models like the 770 or 755 or the 500. Im just wondering if that's ok
I know guys are going to say we should use the bigger ones, but the reason we use them is 1. there way cheaper, use less fuel, and are lighter than the big ones, easier to maneuver around, and get on and off your back and back on the truck.By the way lawnchaser, i'm always happy to answer your questions man !
G Packard oh ok. the reason why I use an echo pb770t is because of its performance and that it can blow a larger volume of leaves. and because of that, I get done in a shorter amount of time and am able to move on to the next job. It has definitely made me tons of money over the years of using them. Its also really good on fuel too. And it also has a vent on the backrest that actually blows cool air up through your back . That's just my reason why I go with them. But yeah, I can definitely see why you all go with them. Makes a lot of sense
also, our guys tend to beat the crap out of them. Its not bad when your in the truck, but if your not, they don't care about your shit. I bet the cool air helps, i can see that.
Nice video. My question is what do you suggest if your property makeup requires more than one size mower? I currently run a wright 48in and carry a 36in as well. I live in Georgia were the property sizes vary.
+Josiah Thornton 36" wb's are some of the longest mowers around, I found that I didn't use it as much as I thought. There are some alternate shorter mowers around, but eventually I dropped gated back yards where a 48" could not fit or had them agree to let me widen the gate.
Great video!! I have a ranger. Where do I get one of those gates as well as a bed like that? That's amazing! I have a Lazer Z Xmark id like to put in the bed vs a trailer. Thank you
I guess now days they call them colorados or something like that. I just call me s10, but I prefer Chevy over ford. Grew up working on Chevrolet. Fords are good to I guess. What do you think about incorporating a box for clipping collection on there? Maybe it could ride behind gate and open to side on hinges? Idk just a thought. Always nice be able to bag and carry off sticks that fall out of trees.
the ideal with the Ranger is good too a point. What happens when the truck breaks down? Then u r screwed, at least with a trailer u r able to rent a truck so as not to hold u back on your schedule.
Its official, there is nothing new under the sun. I was here thinking of doing something like this all week. The guy quoted me $2700 and that is out of my range. What is name of that trimming rack and blower rack?
A&S Lawnscapes I'll try guys but it's hard to be in the shop all the time while it's being built . most nights i get home after the guys have left the shop.
thanks George, I love your setups gonna setup my guys like this so I don't have be be a nervous wreck taking out my enclosed trailer thanks for the reply Make that $$$$$brotha
2020 and still the best truck i've ever seen man. I'm modeling my whole truck off of that Ranger friend, the gate specifically. Keep after it.
Probably the best set up I've seen yet. Love the folding gate!
THANKS JAMES !
I love the way you think Mr Packard. Very innovative!!! You are definitely a problem solver.
+Mower Man
thanks mower man !
Wow, that's one of the best ideas I've seen for a lawn care truck.
That truck is sick man.
Whats Up Keith!
yes that ranger is sweet! last year i was running a ranger and an f350, i used the ranger 95% of the time. they are great little trucks.
they sure are
That is the best set up i have ever seen.....
+James Connell
thanks James, i get that a lot.
best truck setup I've seen yet. great job guys!
thanks chris
George-Really impressed by the thought you guys put into this truck. Efficiency is the name of the game, and you guys are proving that bigger isn't always better. Would really like to pick your brain about starting a new lawn service in San Antonio TX.

ask away !
If you where a new start up in 2016, what would your setup look like if you where limited to a truck (08 Chevy Colorado) pulling a small enclosed trailer and $20,000 (willing to increase) for equipment and expenses?
Love the features in the design of the bed.
thanks man
Amazing setup. Thanks for showing it.
Your very welcome
That Ranger is a slick set up! love it. Love the racks too. Great stuff!
Brandon Desmarais thanks brandon !
I want to do that with my 92 ford ranger!!! 5 spd manual! 4cyl might have some trouble pulling it all tho. I love that setup!
What size mower are you able to fit into the bed of the truck?
up to 42" in ours
Green Touch racks are really nice. They are worth every penny!
We really like them, i think there a lot easier on the equipment , plus the equipment doesn't flip upside down, thus it doesn't flood out, like other racks. hence, less pulls to get started ! not to mention the easy lock up ability.
That's just the setup I want. Thanks for sharing.
This is an incredible set up!
thanks brother
Packard!!! You ‘da man! Thanks for the run down on your trucks. :)
thanks brother !
Truck its absolutely awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Justin B no problem, sorry for the delay, I've been extremely busy, but I did produce another video with our latest truck, check it out.
Are you still using this smaller ford ranger truck and how many workers do you send out in it(would two workers be profitable in this smaller truck)?
yes and two is efficient
I gotta say that is a nice custom design ya got there. Question is where do you put your debris? Im assuming you dont put a trailer on the back otherwise you couldnt really get your mower out. Do you dump on site?
we pile it up by the road. we don't have to haul anything away.
This setup is great man, I sometimes see guys with a huge truck the whole summer and all they are carrying is a chopper and a few handhelds. Huge waste of fuel. That ranger is easier to park too
enginemodify hell yeah !
I was inspired by your ramps George and had some built for one of my trucks. It's great to zip around without a trailer.
+PrimoLandscaping.ca
i'm glad you did. It sure is great 1 the naysayers will never know how good this is.

A+. That's a neat set up guys
Vladimir, thanks for the kind words, where are you located, your name sounds Russian ?
I'm in Sacramento. Emigrated from Ukraine
Vladimir Molitvenik thanks man
I like the idea, but what do you do with clipping, debris, leaves, etc..? I know I fill up my truck everyday..

Great Job! you should sale them!! Love it!
Darrick George i hear that a lot, but when would i find the time ?lol
How much would you charge to do that for my dads truck? His old ford bed is falling off and he bought a new truck just wants the old ford for a spare.
6k little buddy
Hey George! Can you make a vidoe of how you installed the flat bed into the ranger? I want to do do the same for next year but I have no idea how you did it! Can you do something explainable so I can show it to a welder? Thank you!
I like how you think man, good truck rigs!
thanks man, were trying to come up with the best trucks possible.
thanks , we try

we did.
Good video and nice truck set up.
thanks brother
Nice setup run a ranger myself for fuel but haul a trailer with it. What was your cost on setting the truck up like that
Kent Thorpe about $6000 plus the truck
Why so small back pack blowers? Just curious. I’m pretty sure most handhelds have more power than those.
not true . This was all they needed
Hi....Great idea on the ranger...What is the cost of the custom bed and gate?...I would love to do that on my ranger
Ramon Velez In all we had about $6, 000 stuck into it.
Just built one with inspiration from this video. What is the engine displacement on the ranger and how tall are your sides of the bed? Thanks
we build quite a few of these so i'm not sure on this one
how much did that bed setup cost? definitely good for residential small maintenance.
Do you and your crew do builds if someone sent you a flatbed truck....? Looks good
OfficialHankIII I'm really not into that type of biz. but I know a guy who will, email me and i'll hook you up.
10 4 man wasnt sure if ya wanted to make side money doing that but thanks again
Do you know of a place in South Florida that can do the Ranger set up?
Nice setup.... Did you paint your racks yellow yourself? And if so what type of paint did you use? Thanks in advance
thanks and no they came that way.Don't forget to subscribe as i have done literally hundreds of videos to help all of you grow your businesses .
I've watched this video like 10000 times over. how do I go about getting one of those custom beds for my truck? who builds them? feel free to private message me. I'm in texas.
A trailer company could but they range from 2500 to 7500 I built my own for 400$ including paint
I never imagined someone coming up with such good use for a small truck in this industry.
It's absolutely awesome, good thinking on that. I'll use Chevrolet though.
icutemall thanks for your comment man. chevy s 10 ?
Do you guys fabricate and install your own lawn truck beds, if so do you fabricate and install for other companies?
we do our own trucks, but have been thinking about building them for others ?
Thanks ....I would highly recommended you guys start doing that.
love the set up
thanks Danny
Really like your gate very cool. I do like your larger truck to bad it sucks the fuel.
+John Bailey
yeah oh well you can't have it all bro.
Awesome idea with the Ranger!
Thanks Josh, it really works too !
Thanks for the response. I meant to say "my guys who may modify my f150". They don't sell trailers. I just didn't want to overload the truck, that's all.
Awesome idea on the Ranger! Is there a site to buy these truck beds from? Any help would be appreciated my friend.
not that i'm aware of, we make them ourselves.
Wow, its impressive!
I really like the ford ranger setup.
I got a truck that I want to do the same thing to.
How much did it run you to get that done.
AMP. Property Preservation P&P VLOG. 6k he answered the first hundred who asked
I hope that ranger has the 6 cylinder in it to haul that load. Is it a automatic or stick shift ?
Is this a 4 cyl or 6 cyl ranger? What year is this one? Did you add suspension airbags or anything? Mpg?
Hi Eric, 4 cycle, not sure of year on that particular one.we added new overload leaf springs. around 18-20
Omg I love this idea what a smart man
Dave098712, Thanks man, I appreciate the upbeat comments and glad you liked the video! Remember to subscribe to G Packard if you haven't already!
thanks dave but i'm not really smart. just ask my wife she'll tell ya. lol
Great Ranger set up,what was the time frame for the custom build roughly??
about a month
I work for a guy in Ohio who uses the same Isuzu’s and I LOVE them
Very cool Video thanks for sharing..... we are looking at adding a s10 or Ranger to our small fleet this season I have looked on so many videos yours I gotta say is the real deal. My main question , Do you have anything to support the weight of the mower / mowers As we will be making this bed in our shop too . Thanks again OneLove
yeah, we put heavier springs and shocks in all our trucks to support the weight.
Great rig, is that a 36” or 48” stander on the truck?
36"
Can you send me the build specs on the ranger I love that set up
How wide of a mower can you fit on there
+Jason Dow i cannot because we just did it with no specks. up too a 36"
Do you have the design plans for that bed and are you willing to share them???
+Brandon Ivy
we build them ourselves, and every truck design will be different do to the ever changing body styles . there almost a design build as you go.
I like the Ranger set up
a DIY Car Guy thanks man
G Packard no prob, thanks for the video
Love the truck.
Is it a 2.3L 4 cylinder or a 4L V6?
it's a 4
Excellent concept. I love it. I believe i am going to build the same thing only I'm going to do it on my dually and eliminate the need for a trailer for that specific crew.
thanks and good luck
That a cool truck setup
I have a Ford ranger and I am really considering doing this! How much would the flatbead and attachments cost?
we spent about $6000
G Packard is that truck and flatbed cost?
Where did you order the tailgate from as well as the trimmer and blower racks?
Green touch industries extreme series. tailgate we made
Thats a great setup where can i get my truck done like that im in Orlando Fl.
I have a 2006 dodge dakota 4 door.
Alex Santiago I don't know where to send you. We made these trucks ourselves.
Thanks I understand. Great job.
Hi George, I have a Ford Ranger that I work from. I have already been toying w the idea of going w a flatbed for our business. I am wondering about the bed itself. Is it custom or did you purchase it from a dealer?
Forget-Me-Not Lawn Care we made it ourselves.
Ok, thanks much!
how much were the advertising wraps on the front of your Ford Rangers?
around $1300 for the whole truck
Nice hopefully I can figure out how you made that fold down gate because it would really help.
Martin Garcia hi Im not sure if you built your fold down gate. I had one built for my dodge Dakota truck its great I kept the same bed And hooked all my equipment in it.
how can I put pictures so u can have an idea
Upload a you Tube Video of it for all of us.
Not yet but I still plan on doing so. Do you have an instagram?
Martin Garcia ill try to see if i have enough memory to load instagram.
So organized. I used to do landscaping and I wish the owner of that company was as thoughtful as you. He's a good guy, but no where near as organized and comfort-driven. I may have stayed in landscaping if I was working with you.

Ahh ok. That's pretty impressive, Have a ranger myself. Awesome work
+G Packard should think about building those and selling them.
I'm looking into this for my truck. I'm sure a WB would work just fine on here.
ok then
Great video. Do you know the ballpark price for the ranger bed set up?
Joey Malin $6,000.00
G Packard For the entire truck or just the bed? Thanks for responding!
Always nice be able to bag and carry off sticks that fall out of trees.
icutemall WE HARDLY EVER HAUL ANY DEBRIS AWAY, UNLESS THEY PAY US EXTRA TO DO IT.
Love the video watched it a few times.... what do u do when u have debris to remove?
either to the curb or we schedule the bigger trucks in.
What sze square tubing did you use on gate thanks
the ideal with the Ranger is good too a point. What happens when the truck breaks down? Then u r screwed, at least with a trailer u r able to rent a truck so as not to hold u back on your schedule.
David Vasquez wrong, we just send another truck.
How much was that whole setup for material?
Around 6k
The Rangers are nice. I have had the same idea, just need to grow a lot more.
well then get your marketing game going NOW !
can you give me information or the number of the people who made your truck. I'm thinking about getting that setup but on a GMC diesel
+Triple-D's Lawn Care & Services

Its official, there is nothing new under the sun. I was here thinking of doing something like this all week. The guy quoted me $2700 and that is out of my range. What is name of that trimming rack and blower rack?

The ranger is a compact setup but I've seen guys with a lot more things on it. Didn't see gas cans garbage bin ladder tools shovel etc.
This truck was made for mowing not a landscape truck !
