I used to run around Hayward field as a kid running for track city youth track club, my mom was a member of the Daisy Duck booster club and knew Steve prefontane. I remember sitting in the old wooden stands all the crowd stomping their feet together as the runners came by, I remember watching Oregon great distance runners Rudy chaps, Don Cleary, the McChesney Twins and Alberto Salazar! I also ran track and cross country for Springfield high, we used to train on pre’s trail along the willamette river and would come across those guys I mentioned training. I will always remember that and the atmosphere at Hayward! Man I feel old. My mom was good friends with Mr Bowermen also. Priceless memories!😉👍
Great facilities. Oregon and Arkansas have the best track and field facilities. Arkansas is the only university to have both its indoor and outdoor facilities as World Track certified. Only the city of New York has both as well.

Remember the crowd chanting CRUZ!, CRUZ!, CRUZ! running on the trails with Mary Decker and Salazar etc
Legendary. Let's get it on!
What an absolutely unbelievable recruiting tool.
Tracktown USA baby!!
That looks like a track facility that would be built for the 2042 Olympics in ... Riyadh, or something. Crazy.
nah, it is fine for world championship but way too small for an olympics stadium
@@afrobuddy4801 - No, I mean design-wise -- it's a very fancy, futuristic stadium. Not saying 30,000 is large enough for the Olympics
I miss my college running days. Mostly the friends I made there.

Go duckssss I can’t wait till I am older to play for you guys I was going to take a tour for my birthday but corona virus 🦠 got in the way of that

I’m not saying anything negative about the New Hayward Field, but I do know this: I am glad I trained and ran on the Old Hayward Field.
