It is a very beautiful facility (yet very expensive). Hurts to see a little after denying the request of attendance, but I didn’t feel like moving across country to go to school for a mediocre program to my preferred major. However, I chose the better option not completing NCAA and combining college education and pro-competition. Here for perspective on my rejection of Oregons offer.
I was on the track team at Notre Dame before I graduated in 2004 and I gotta admit that I was in awe looking at this facility. This is an absolute world class facility and I really do hope the athletes there appreciate this work of art. Salute to you guys for this FIRE piece of content!
Honestly more facilities should have pedicures, your feet are a huge part of any athletic activity, taking care of them is pretty important for high level athletess
Most runners who compete at Oregon are at least good enough to qualify for the Olympic Trials or other professional meets. They can get similar experiences if they stay running after graduation.
In 1978 my husband was a lineman at Oregon, when he lifted weights at Hayward field, it was a dirt floor under the E grandstand. You've come a long way Hayward Field!!
Oregon really does just do it on a different level than anyone else. The attention to detail is insane. Incredible facility, there is not an equal track facility on earth.
This was great! I was finally in there for NCAA final day yesterday. I was so impressed. I hope they will someday give public tours. The seats are so nice. My fave new upgrade is the restrooms. Omg, we know how bad the old ones were. Two negative impressions: when the rain hits that roof, it is so deafening, you can't hear the announcer, and it is super hot when the sun is out if you are under the semi-transparent roof. Not as much wind flow...great for athletes, but not for spectators. There isn't a bad seat in the place, though. Really looking fwd to Oly Trials and the Pre Classic!
If I'm an All-American high school athlete on an official visit I would make sure I sign that letter of intent before I left that stadium to secure my spot on the team. I could live in that stadium.
Thank you for the great review of the new Hayward Field! I grew up in Eugene and remember going to Oregon football games there, before Autzen Stadium was built and it turned into a full-time track facility. I ran and did field events during my junior high and high school years at Twilight meets at The old Hayward Field. I miss the nostalgia of the old grandstands but the new facility is truly world class Thanks again for a great Vid!
Cool video! As a Duck alum I was kind of bummed about them tearing down the old Hayward field, but after watching the Trials and the NCAAs I think I've been won over. The place looks great! I look forward to visiting Eugene and the new Hayward Field someday soon.
privately built with private funds....so yeah the best track facility in the world...and at no cost to taxpayers or the university...yeah very worth it.
@@cheswick617 thanks for bring this info to my attention. I had made a wrong assumption that it was funded by tax payer and/or university funding. I should definitely do my research before commenting
Wow! Would have been nice to have had those facilities when I was on the team in the early nineties. We had no indoor track/field facilities to speak of at all back then. One or two less pulled hamstrings......
The perks of being a D 1 scholarship athlete go beyond the cost scholarship of the scholarship. They might not get paid but they are well taken care of. I was born 40 years too early. Only perks we got were track spikes and gray sweats.
The underground training facility is like a hidden world. Must be a crazy experience for non-Oregon athletes who warm up and wait in there during meets
Oregon's Sport Facilities total over 1.2 Billion... Meanwhile Tuition still ranges around 40k a year for non-scholarship students... Yet Oregon doesn't have the most expensive Sport Facility in the NCAA...Always interesting to look where the money actually goes and why the NCAA fought so hard to not pay athletes
You have no clue what your talking about. The money from tuition doesn't go towards athletics. The donors pay for the athletic programs. Hayward Field got federal funding due to being Olympics Trails site.
G De Souza LOLOL...haters always running their mouth yet have no clue. School Tuition has no ties to the Athletic department. The only public tax money used is for maintenance, and "SOME" of the various sports coaches salaries, and Athletic Dept. salaries. Tuition pays for professor salaries and school staffers, and School building maintenance.
