Just close your eyes and listen ❤️. It is difficult to find quality over quantity these days in music but Toad has spent a lifetime doing this. The musical craftsmanship and timeliness song writing will forever be part of my life
Toad was a band I found by fluke. Picked Dulcinea from Columbia House back in the day because the band name caught my eye (Monty Python fan here)... it was love at first listen, and Toad was responsible for the beginning of my love of music. I've listened to hundreds of bands since then and even spent ten years as a professional bass player and, through it all, Toad has never failed to inspire. Glen is a world class songwriter, an underrated vocalist. Dean is an awe-inspiring bass player (as a bass player, I'm always picking out his lines and they're amazing) and an incredible singer. Todd's guitar is always incredible and his vocals rival Glen's (LapDog for the win... I mean, jeez). As much as I miss Randy, the musicians they've all chosen to work with over the years have always been amazing. Only thing I wish is that Glen and Chris Thile had recorded things together. If they have, I haven't found them... but one can only hope moving forward.
I have loved Toad since my freshmen year of high school, and haven’t looked back! I just brought my husband and 17 year old daughter to your rainy show in Osh Kosh, WI. You have gained two more life long fans ❤ This song encapsulates everything I try to be for my husband and kids.
Great video visually. Reminds me a little of the walk on the ocean vibe and the good ol 90's. Thanks for all the years of great music going back to Bread and Circus. I love it all
Wow this is gorgeous. Has kind of a Fear/Dulcinea tone to it, but well-aged and looking through older eyes. I was born in '89 (a year after their debut, I believe) and my parents had every one of Toad's albums- most of which I've kept in an old CD book despite their age and numerous scratches. I owe so many beautiful memories to this band. I'm grateful their talent is shining on. Toad forever, man!!!
In my life I've owned over 1,000 CDs. I've only ever had to replace 3 that would no longer play due to being worn out from being played so much. Not scratched or damaged. Worn out. One was NIN's "Pretty Hate Machine." One was The Smiths's "Strangeways Here We Come." The other one I had to replace was "Fear." Twice. I have a small window of my life right around the time "Fear" was released that feels like I packed 40 years' worth of living into just a few years time. Less than 5 years, actually. Those 3 albums are the soundtrack for all of the memories those few years hold. From love to heartache, from birth to death, and everything in between. I've been listening to and loving music almost constantly for over 50 years. All kinds. I owe that to my parents, who listened to the works of Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, and Nat Cole on one side and Duane Eddy, Fleetwood Mac, and Led Zeppelin on the other. And everything in between. My own tastes today run from Erik Satie to Hans Zimmer to Nitzer Ebb (my favorite since '86!) Even having listened to so many types of music for that amount of time, I feel "Pray Your Gods" and "Stories I Tell" are two of the most beautiful pieces ever written. From the words to the notes they're both such gorgeous works. I've played those and other TTWS songs for people both my age and younger and the reaction is pretty much identical -- it's either, "How do you find music like this?" or "I didn't know music like this even existed." I just tell them, "You're welcome." I just wanted you to know how much that album meant to me then, and still means to me today. I've enjoyed other TTWS albums, but that will always be "the one" for me. Everything just clicks. From spotting the ocean to the rolling canyons. And everything in between. Thank you for that, guys. Appreciate it.
Wow. I was living in SB when this band was up and coming. I could tell by some of their early live shows that this was a band of high caliber. Yes, they have had their ups and downs, but they have never lost sight of what being a musician and vocalist truly mean. They should be very proud of their catalog of work over the years, for it is truly phenomenal! This is a band with musical talent that runs deep to their core...
Hearing you cover this at the Portland, OR show a few weeks ago was absolute magic! REM is one of my favorite bands and this song in particular. Though I was not following Toad in the 90''s, I have seen you twice (and Glen solo 3 times). Each concert has been absolutely fantastic and easily among the top concert experiences I have had. As a band you have lost nothing over the years. Thank you!
I recently exposed a younger person i frequently hire for art to Toad. They fell in love right away the music. It's a testament to the quality of the band when you enjoy it whether you're in your 20's, 40's or like my parents, in your 60's.
randomly remembered how weird the band name "toad the wet sprocket" was yesterday and now i found out you guys are still making music! haven't listened or even thought about y'all for like a decade at least, but it's still just as good as i remember. much love.
I saw Toad last month in Durham, it was spectacular! And the year before in Raleigh was great too! I’ll go every year if they keep touring and coming to this area!
I love that Toad still puts the effort into producing REAL videos. Also- I'd love to hear the backstory on why there is a new version of the song (minus Michael McDonald from the original).
I suspect that this was the original version but the Michael McDonald version was the one chosen for the album cause Michael McDonald became available.
Immense beauty lies in the Intersection when a lady that inspires new love and A #1 hit song written, inspired by her love meet! Congratulations on your marriage. Truly happy for you both. Stellar song. ❤
Absolutely beautiful!! I loved the Michael McDonald version of this song when it first came out but I love love LOVE this version. Preordered the All You Want vinyl, can't wait!!
Discovered them and war babies from watching Buffy the vampire movie and watching credits and going to peaches and bought fear and fell in love ever since, his solo albums are amazing too great great band I'm glad I've followed for over 30 yrs

I don't understand why these guys aren;'t more popular?? but i love them, so who cares!! love the Toad!
Just close your eyes and listen ❤️.

@@LynnRoth I was aware of this at one point, but never had the chance to actually hear the album. Think, in retrospect, I was looking up WPA. Thanks!
Glen and the rest of Toad, thank you guys. Cheers to 30+ years.
They are a great band live as well. They're also some of the most humble and nicest guys you could ever meet with respect to their fans.

“She remembers every word I say, but she don’t keep score” Glenn’s lyrics are just ❤
What a beautiful and heartfelt video! The peace and joy on Glen’s face is so beautiful!!!! This song just gets better and better!!!
Thank you for making such a beautiful song❤
😍Thanks for all your music. Wish you could come to Spain for a tour. 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Amigo, regresaron hace poco o nunca se separaron, les perdí la pista. Son una súper banda.

Toad's been one of my favourite bands for a very long time. Talented musicians who stayed true to their craft. Lots of love and hugs from India!

Train tracks + beach + TTWS......Best to me !!
Amazing, this song brought me back to the good old days, when soulful music was the norm, thanks TTWS for coming back to rescue music.
Great Song! Great vídeo! I remember when KISS made a cover from a song of the Toad the Wet Sprocket... a song called "Rock and roll all nite".
Awesome. Glad to see Toad playing.
Great Song!!❤
Mas uma música que toca a alma . Sou admiradora desde 1990 . Um salve de Porto - Portugal 🇵🇹.

Step on the stones
Flesh becomes water
Wood becomes bone..." and now I am here. 😊

@@WoodenBoatGuy Yeah...good point, they would have had to lay something down originally before getting Michael involved.
GP es un maestro de la música de estos tiempos .... Toad is Geat

Toad the wet sprocket were actually a band from Luton UK in the 80s, so these guys probably lifted their name from there. Having said this, this toad is a great band ❤
I guess so the wet spark it whenever they were experiencing life and you could feel the dark undertones. The deep residence.
Are they getting back or never go??
I heard them long time ago!!!
Just saw you guys in Nashville, you are great. So good, I almost cried. By the way Glen, I can hook you up with some Vibrans in case you're interested😁
I love this band til 2012
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Don't try taking an old dog with you either when get on the. Old trampoline tracks
I hope you checked yourself for ticks after walking through that high grass Glenn
Did Glenn ever find his " ginger " ?
Nice. I like this version better. I never cared for Michael McDonalds voice.
I love Michael McDonald plenty, but this version just sounds so much better without him.
