@@tropdommage3288 Some truth to that. I believe I heard that these songs were originally going to be a Glen solo record, but he chose to make them Toad songs instead. Musically they are definitely more Toad than Glen though, so the band had a lot of musical input.

Michael McDonald's vocals make more sense upon repeat listens. I like it.
Glen had already known Michael McDonald...but as the song was coming together, Dean Dinning suggested getting Michael McDonald on the track. The end result is awesomeness!

The most exciting collaboration ever!!!!! Yes that was my first thought. Then I heard the result and I was a bit disappointed. But after listening to this "beast" several times, I am totally obsessed. That song here is the risk Toad had to take, it has Dulcinea guitars, Glen´s solo bluesy vocals and that deep soul of Michael McDonald! It is the first soul single for Toad, so watch out Suzanne Vega, soon "Tom´s Diner" won´t be the only alternative song that also went top 10 on Soul-Urban charts. And if today´s RnB radio stations cannot find this gem here, it is only themselves to blame. Yes "Game Day" is absolutely suitable to Dulcinea and has the quality, but "Best Of Me" shows that Toad The Wet Sprocket is not sleeping in the past!

I love Toad! Love the new album. Michael McDonald is great, though I’m not feeling his style belonging with Toad’s. This is a great song. Just wish it was only Glen, Todd and Dean on the vocal track. Would have been even greater!

Yeah what was the issue with having the other members of TTWS sing harmonies? But then again it’s (probably) Glen’s song so he can do what he wants (shrug).
@@matthewvonduhn2425 Yes, Glen wrote the song. As for there being an “issue” with Dean and Todd singing harmony, isn’t the point. The idea of having guest vocals adds an element of the unique is all. (I’m neutral about this tune, which renders my points objective 😊 🌈)

Good to see real music fans on You Tube, not just the ones from the livestreams, who “love everything” and make requests every single show. Todd doesn’t sing as often as he should in general, he’s rare, vocally speaking. He could play all the songs Glen refuses to via his own livestream (ha ha). 😂 I did ask him last year, but my ideas are often negated (Quite alright, I’m used to it) ❌
