Avoid no regen, no leech, and reduced recovery. You can change a few points (minor Pantheon and Elemental Mastery) to become reflect immune, and you can play more defensively to overcome minus/max res, critical damage, and reduced aura effectiveness mods. I'd also avoid spell suppression for the sake of convenience since it lowers your DPS by 50%.
Dude, you have it. Your build guides are easily one of the best out there. You literally explain everything, while not taking all day to get the point out. A few more build guide like these, especially on meta builds before a new league, and you will be trending in the PoE community! I watch build guides all the time (because I'm not creative enough to make my own) and hardly ever sub to the channels, let alone comment. Thank you for the work you put in to these guides! I appreciate you watching and stopping by to share your kind words! I'll keep playing these strong builds and strive to make them more digestible for players of all levels 🙂
This is a fantastic guide. I blindly followed the Zizz build as my first league start for 3.25, and was looking for some more depth in understanding of it with the 3.25 mid-league restart. This is perfect for that! Thank you!
Awesome guide very thorough and i really appreciate how your PoB tells me step by step where to put points. In my many years of PoE i have never once played Hierophant and this build looks mega fun!
Thank you so much for this guide. As a console player it’s tough to follow a skill tree when it’s always only on pob. I don’t have a pc and you can’t download it on your phone so this helps so much!
I was following Ziz's guide but end up dying alot randomly. Like there would be times I would face tank things and be totally fine but I would randomly die from blue mobs. Which really baffles me with this build. I was able to push through my red maps but got stuck at 90 as I die alot from that point. I needed to upgrade before going in deep and your guide came up. Great videoon transition and break points for upgrades. Sorely lacking from other "beginner friendly guides"
I'm glad I could help! I tried to answer questions I had and to tackle pain points I experienced when trying the build out for the first time. I hope you're able to push through because the build feels really great once it's geared 🙂
I've seen a lot of build guides, but none of them have been as easy to understand as yours. I quit settlers league early as I got tired of feeling overwhelmed as I'm still learning the game, but your guide has felt like a breath of fresh air so far this league, If I could tip you I would. Will you be making a guide for making currency this league or do you think your previous guide will still hold up?
Hey there, thank you for the kind words! I try to keep beginners in mind when making my videos and it means a lot to know that it's making a difference 🙂 I'm playing the build in the Necro Settlers reset and experimenting with the lantern and new money making methods that come with it. I'll be sharing what I find when I can because I'm also learning a lot as I go haha. As for the previous money makers, they will be more relevant for the regular Settlers league than the Necro Settlers event.
Thank you! I didn't know anything about Archmage before this build, so I tried to make the guide in a way that answered all of the questions I had when I first tried it 😄
Lmao, I have some footage of me trying 100% delirium maps and it's a literal slideshow. I'm going to try out one of the Ice Nova MTX and see if it helps performance 😛
Great league start guide. Not sure about the choice to use Ancestral Vision though, Stormshroud seems more efficient. You should also replace the leech on your gloves for lightning exposure early endgame I know it wasn't the focus, but the end-game stuff at the end was lacking a bit. I think 8-passive cluster is probably always superior to meglomaniac for this build, and basically mandatory if you swap to the crit/power charge variant (which you didnt touch on)
Thank you! The life leech implicit helps keep our life topped up once we have Corrupted Soul, and Awakened Lightning Penetration provides lightning exposure. I don't have any experience with the crit version, so I left that part out as to not mislead people. What's the budget look like for a crit swap?
Thank you! I am currently using Neversink's Strict filter from filterblade.xyz I will make a community post in a few days when I customize it to remove excessive items :)
Great guide, any thoughts on not having Atziri's Foible Paua Amulet? It is sitting at 5.5 Divines on my server and I am just in maps, have the rest of the early mapping/yellow maps equipment.
Thanks! I'm using a rare amulet with life/mana/resists while I save up for Foible. It's great because of the mana, mana regen, and reduced attribute requirements - but it's not mandatory so don't feel pressured to pay such a steep price to get it early.
Love this guide, but I have a problem with spell suppression. I’m not sure if I missed something, but I have 21% chance from gloves, 12% from boots, 15% from anointment on the amulet, 34% from the passive nodes on the tree, and about 130 dexterity, which gives another 8% because of Magebane. I’m definitely still missing 3% compared to your gear, but I feel like I might have missed something. Thanks a lot! :D
If you're playing on the regular SoK, then you can try looking for a Glorious Vanity jewel that converts some of the nearby nodes to spell suppression. Here's some rudimentary search parameters using the Timeless Jewel Calculator that's available on github 🙂 vilsol.github.io/timeless-jewels/tree?jewel=1&conqueror=Doryani&location=36634&mode=stats&stat=14706
Thank you! I tend to stick with Neversink's premade filters, starting with Regular for Campaign and then switching to Semi-Strict for Atlas Progression. Most of the endgame footage you see in this video is using the Very Strict version, which I personally use a week into the league.
Which big item upgrade would you recommend going for first? In the necro-settler league nothing is below 2div. Is it the amulet? Timeless Jewel? or something else? I only have 300c to my name atm just reached t10 maps clearing just fine except getting randomly one shotted at times.
I'd definitely recommend getting the Timeless Jewel first, it helps immensely with your survivability. Make sure to grab the lightning damage leeched as life eldritch implicit on your gloves, or to have a decent amount of life regeneration for when you put the jewel in. Then I'd look for an affordable rare 6L, followed by a modest wand upgrade while you wait for prices on some of the unique items to drop. I have a feeling that Atziri's Foible will drop in price as more people get geared and as the item continues to enter the market. Let me know if you have anymore questions, I'll try to answer them the best I can 🙂
No leech and no regen are the big two to avoid. You can deal with elemental reflect with Minor Pantheon (Yugul) and Elemental Mastery. Everything else should be manageable though 🙂
Sorry! We help Alira for resistances during the campaign. In the end game (level 90+) we use the vendor recipe to swap to kill all and get an extra skill point instead.
You can! The two items should be very close to one another in performance as long as you're hitting Hindered enemies while Singularity is equipped. With that said, this conditional might pose problems for when the enemy cannot be hindered.
Just respeced and so much tankiness, do you have any good atlas trees that this build excells at, btw best guide out there and i have watched them all, top marks
Thank you! I didn't run too many strategies on this character aside from Betrayal, but I can make a few recommendations that will make your mapping feel smoother. Investing into Shrines, Dominations, and Packed With Energy compensates for having a slower cast speed during Atlas Progression. Once you're geared, you can comfortably do any meta T17 strat (like Ambush). Try Blight, Ultimatum, or Ritual if you enjoy standing still in an area. Or give Destructive Play boss rushing a go if you prefer zooming through the map and melting bosses :)
@@davidlatal4831 This is a non-crit version that uses Elemental Overload. For crit, you'll need a lot better gear to make up for the passives that are spent on crit instead of stats and defenses. To answer the original comment, Cloak of Defiance is a really good item because it saves you passive points. Without it, you'd have to find another slot for Glorious Vanity. It's definitely viable to use a rare item, or even a different unique like Lightning Coil, but you have to be able to make up for the points you spend getting Glorious Vanity elsewhere. Hope this helps! 🙂
Yes, here is the PoB: pobb.in/TKK7zSBtBTor Replace Elevore with Kitava's Thirst, and then use Ancestral Vision jewel to get ailment immunity. You might have to move a few points around to cap spell suppression.
Yes, you can upgrade every gem as you work through the campaign! The only gem you should keep at lower levels is Clarity so that it doesn't reserve too much of your life or mana 🙂
Cloak of Defiance will give you Mind Over Matter even when the node on the tree is replaced by Corrupted Soul. So you'll have both as long as you use the chest piece!
32:10 Another way to continue from something like this (Open prefix, full suffix) is using beast crafting. A Farric Wolf Alpha will add a prefix and remove a random suffix. This is guaranteed to save your prefixes, while giving you an open suffix to craft on. You also get a chance of keeping a good suffix (in this case, spell crit), and a small chance of giving you a 3rd good prefix (hybrid spell damage, flat spell damage)
Yes, but you need to be careful with gear progression. A lot of our survivability comes from Glorious Vanity jewel, so early mapping you will have to play it safe! We also use a lot of uniques, so you need to be clever on finding rares with similar mods while you hunt down the unique items 😮
I played LS through the campaign and early game mapping. The progression curve for Ice Nova is smoother in my opinion, but LS scales a lot better when you properly invest into it in the endgame. You can't go wrong with either or, so decide if you want to poke things with a stick or cast spells and go for it!
You can use a chaos resistance Light of Meaning jewel instead of the mana one. It caps chaos resistance all by itself. Later on with REALLY good gear you can get chaos resistance on your spell suppression rares and then switch your Light of Meaning to mana or damage.
i tried to solve it, but get to the point, that LoM is best solution for start, becouse MageBlood is just cheaper than make perfect 3x t1Rares. Then, when u got MageBlood, u make flasks with res, and get chaos res on rares instead
maybe im incredibly unlucky because i spam ice nova and the fking frostbolt wont trigger for like 4 consecutive casts, my mana cost is ok (180 or so) and my casting speed (0,19 casting time on the skill) its ok too
Yeah Kitava's Thirst is like flipping a coin and sometimes you just get unlucky multiple times in a row. The faster your cast speed, the less this will feel like a problem. What I did early was run a second set of Frostbolts that I could self-cast; I'd cast once to start the sequence and Kitava's Thirst triggers would carry me from there.
Yes, this can be played in Standard. You will be missing the runesmithing enchants from Settlers of Kalguur league but that does not make or break the build :)
Good question! When we get geared in the endgame, the build does a lot more lightning damage than it does cold. For example, my tooltip says 4000-6000 cold and 23000-23000 lightning. Frostbite would give you a marginal damage increase, but I found the survivability from Enfeeble to be more useful for endgame content.
You'll have to support it with a copy of Archmage. This build has a tremendous amount of less/reduced mana cost of skills which is required to sustain Ice Nova of Frostbolts. Sadly, this means that all your other skills (without Archmage) will cost next to no mana.
One way is to increase the total amount of your mana. For example, my character has 6800 mana and my Frostblink (with Archmage) costs 114 mana. If you don't have the gear for this early on, then what we can do instead is remove some of the reduced mana cost passives on our tree. The Dreamer cluster near the Scion is a good one to remove temporarily. You can also get rid of mana mastery. Just remember to put these back in when your maximum mana gets higher 🙂
Thanks! I personally use Neversink's filters from filterblade.xyz. I start with Regular on Day 1 and increase the strictness once I get to Yellow Maps.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to look into more crafting methods for this build! You can make some pretty crazy things now with the recombinators :o
@@firstibber Anathema is a late game upgrade. The best places to get resistances is through your flexible rare items. I try to give a realistic progression path on what upgrades to make and when, and most of our resistances come from affixes on our rare items. Check my PoB (link in description) and compare the rare items I have equipped to yours. If there's a big difference, then you can start by upgrading your rares :)
@@firstibber You need to get res on every rare item u have. So boots x1, ring x3, gloves x1, beltx3. And on any of this items u need to get dex instead of 1 res. Just look at rares on trade with 140-150 res on ring, if u alredy playing with suppress and life/mana roll just spam essence until t1 res on boots, and belt same 120-140 total res on trade.
The PoB doesnt seem to be configured to show the actual DPS numbers. Would be very interested in seeing the figures at each gear level so that we can compare the setup with the dozens of others out there.
Hey there, I didn't feel confident about configuring the PoB for this build so I left it untouched as to not mislead people. I peeped a few others to compare and people are doing silly things like putting shock at 50% which seems unrealistic for any content that requires a DPS check. I tried to include some clips that showcase the damage capabilities, but otherwise I'm open to suggestions on how to configure PoB so that the number shown is more authentic 🙂
yeah it is good as it is, only noobs compare dps on pob who don't understand how easily it can by manipulated to overtune dps numbers. Normal players would know damage potential just from looking at build and base numbers.
I know people love it, but all the endgame building systems bloat and crafting/gearing in POE is so tedious and convoluted to me. It doesn't strike me as complicated, but just as poor design.
It's a double edged sword. It makes the game harder to get into as a new player but it also means there is an endless amount of content and longevity for dedicated players. To use a climbing analogy, my recommendation is to start simple and look for the next hold instead of fixating on the peak of the mountain.
what map mods to avoid on this build?
Avoid no regen, no leech, and reduced recovery. You can change a few points (minor Pantheon and Elemental Mastery) to become reflect immune, and you can play more defensively to overcome minus/max res, critical damage, and reduced aura effectiveness mods.
I'd also avoid spell suppression for the sake of convenience since it lowers your DPS by 50%.

how did you get a red returning projectile gem ? on my guide its a green gem . im new is there a way to change gem color ?
Hey there, it should be a green gem. Is it showing as red on PoB? Might be a visual bug D:
Good day, can you please share the filler as well?
Hi there, the loot filter is Neversink's Very Strict. You can get it from filterblade.xyz
At 32:20 if you have a really good Mana roll you could try beast crafting suffix to prefix.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to look into more crafting methods for this build! You can make some pretty crazy things now with the recombinators :o
all these unique, give me hard time, i can't believe u guys are res capped ,when i swap i'm not res cap anymore tbh
like if i drop a ring for anathema, what i would like to do ofc, i drop so much ehp + res i can't be cap anymore
Hello great walk thru. Any chance of fixing some of my builds
Bro atziri's amulet is 3 divine, how you get so cheap
Which league are you playing? On the regular Settlers for PC, it starts at 40c.
but was it not in the 1000c range in league start?@@InsPoE
@@InsPoE ah im playin hc settlers, didn't realize this was standard. Thanks!
Do u have discord??
I don't, sorry 🙁. I'm more than happy to help you with any questions you have here though!
