When I had my 1969 AMC AMX PAINTED hunter green, my paint professional put down a coat of silver flake first. I thought he was nuts but it came out spectacular.

You probably heard in comment already that the guy that wants to decals deserve so much of reduced rate, in my opinion, I'd be pleased to think that you did that and you are going to experiment with decals so... I believe you would have to know sooner or later to be fully operative.
A thought ...... testing the clear on the decal for a light coat would help you to see if it would run the vinyl. Some do some don't. I guess it depends on the paint and the vinyl ink too. Anyway just a thought. I sure would hate to have to start that tank all over myself. I've had good success with clearing decals. Emblems are quite different. Many decals have a clear over the ink ......... anyway well done.

If you wanted to use a red metal flake ( big flakes ) would you put the flake down first in place of the silver metallic, fill it with clear binder and sand the peel out until smooth then apply the candy color then clear it ?
@@PHARRAWAY Next question , Your using .008 flake correct , how much bigger flake is .025 ? And can you shoot .025 flake with a 2.2 tip & needle in your gun. I assum that with the bigger flake, you might need to lay 4 coats of clear binder on top of the bigger flake , then wet sand it to around 60% flat , then lay another 4 to 6 coats or until all the peel wet sands out before applying the candy, then tapping for strips etc. then 3 coats of clear over all of it, sand & buff as needed. Want to do my 68 RS Camaro in big flake & candy blue, then tape off pear white SS stripes. Done it in straight base clear paint last time, this will be my first flake job. Would love to try lace on the rear spoiler as well, but ---- scared lol , I don't want to screw this up. I plan on playing with the flake & candy on old doors to get use to it . You make it look TO EASY ! Some guys use a sliver base coat under the flake, others use a black base coat and others use a white base coat . What is the thinking on the base color ?

Can you tell me the best most reasonable paint gun to buy for painting anything but especially a motorcycle. We have a standard honda cruiser & thinking about painting it. My husband loves candy red & the one you did here is one of the most beautiful & looks more simple in application than other's I've seen. How much do you think we need to buy & what do we buy? I clicked on the link but it has up to a gallon & then it has with it a reducer or something like that! I'm a complete newbie so how much to paint 1 motorcycle do you need with a little extra & what all do I buy? I want the good quality gloss or high gloss as you explained as well. I hate painting on hooks or hanging always scared I'll get a run. gas tanks try to let the clear dry for like 15 to 20 minutes before putting second coat on because of the roundness of it.
Why do you use so many different paint guns in your videos. Can you explain in a video about what guns are best for which applications? I onlt have an iwata and I don't even know what size tip I have in it.
On top of the silver then you will need to apply clear to the silver wait 2 or 3 days resand the orange peel and at this point apply your candy and finish with some clear

Does the medium solids clear affect the pop of the candy at all compared to a high solids? Color looked absolutely great regardless but just curious 🍻
for me, the high solids looks wetter than the medium solid

For me there is no problem because I use slow reducer and hardner so it take a bit to dry
