The fact that we can't tell the difference explains how good the reflections are even without rtx
nope that's not the case. ray tracing in this game isn't like other games with ray tracing. it's applied to some parts like brake discs and I think it's only for garage.
@@Bilikersu no, have you watched the video? It was like this 6 months ago and it was applied to the whole car but only in the garage
U can make rt shadows and reflections without ray tracing, ray tracing is just ai marketing shit
No you can tell us slight
@@niewiem94-jfbquwegeq u are just wrong)
I think instead of reflections, racing games will benefit a lot from RTGI since it affects the overall ambience and the scene. In races, you're far too concentrated in the race to notice those accurate reflections. Instead reflections should be reserved for "garage mode" where you can view and interact with the cars up close.
That would be great.
Even if I pause the video I could hardly tell which car has ray tracing. Average humans are just not that capable of judging if the reflections are accurate or not, unless there's some obvious artifacts, like when you look down the reflections are gone.
Or just have the option to toggle everything.. Player car reflections, AI and other players, environment reflections, GI, etc
@@Ben-Rogue that would be the best, but then that's a lot of work too.
Do you guys realize that rtx IS already reserved for only the garage and not racing
Looks basically identical. The most noticeable thing would be RT reflections in water
I don't get why they didn't add self-reflections. My 4090 is almost cpu bottlenecked with RT extreme, DLAA and native 4kl resolution (no DLSS). I spent so much time looking for a reflection of the car's own side mirror just to realise they just didn't add that, even though it's present in photo mode!
EDIT:
I take it back, it looks like it's just broken in the benchmark. There are self-reflections in freeroam and races
@@MenkoDany I have also a 4090, nice bro. 😀
Rtx is only in forza Vista lol
Check the latest release notes, RTX is now applied ingame.
@@DanielH43 Just the self-reflections of one's concern, it's hilarious. This is only there, so they can say, "Look, we also have Ray Tracing.".
I think ray tracing would be more noticeable in Forza Horizon 4 due to the rainier map and the overall style of the game.
It wouldnt make any difference because the reflections only apply to your car alone and when is view at third person other cameras doesnt do RT at all the world it self is still using rasterize reflections and the AI cars aswell only time you get AI cars with RT is in photo mode
@@allansolano5587 you’re very wrong. extreme mode has rat tracing in free roam and races as well. takes 5 seconds to google that.
@@tehMaloWalo Only the player car has RT reflections in free roam.
The side mirrors are the only spots where you can even notice a difference with the RT reflections and I swear I've never looked at those before in the game. I am a big fan of good RT implementations, but this one is just disappointing.
Apparently ray tracing makes such a small difference that most people don't even notice it. With games that don't look as good such as minecraft, or games where the environment changes a lot while playing, ray tracing makes a huge difference
they used the ray tracing only for the showrooms not ingame. So when you racing and or driving there is no Ray Tracing. Its only in the car showrooms.
Something is off. The displayed frame rate on the left is higher, yet the footage on the right is clearly smoother. Higher quality shadows don't do that. What am I missing?
common sense. obviously the creator just messed up the video in edit.
@@tehMaloWalo "cOmMon SEnsE. obVioUSLy" *pushes up glasses*
@@jacktaber8489 um okay?
Raytracing in this game only works in forza vista(garage)
can't tell the difference.
Yes its exactly the same but with 10fps hit.
My first thought as well
It’s only in forza vista mode
@@stormrider01wrong it’s been added everywhere
Yo bud, the ray-tracing is enabled only in the "Forza Vista" mode, which is the photo mode when you're at your house, or taking pictures of your car on the street. :)
yeah! unfortunately, this comparison is pretty much useless.
Nope, ray tracing, at least in extreme setting does work in open world and racing, but only works on your own car. Spoiler and wing mirrors reflection on your own car for example. That's why there's such a small difference between ray tracing on and off, both in term of visual quality and fps impact.
Ray Tracing actually work in game or just in Forzavista?
The new Ultra and Extreme ray tracing presets will apply ray traced reflections in free roam and races.
Since the newest update you can use it ingame
I can’t tell the difference. Rtx global illumination would have been a better way to go in a game that moves this fast,
Its usefull when you make photos in game. Without RTX car is not reflecting itself on itself. Wings, mirrors and other parts that should reflect are not reflecting. Now with this update they all are reflecting, but only on player car not other (Except in races all cars have RTX and cars reflect on each other, so performance drops a bit)and it wont reflect brake lights braking, only brake lights themselves on example of old mustang with chrome bumper. Or morgan 3 wheeler, you can see reflections of car on its headlight, cause they are chrome. Looks very good in comparison to it set to off.
@@jaroshus actually if you see the table turn 10 put out the RT is only active for AI cars at races when you use photo mode outside of photo mode either on a race or free roam only yoyr car has RT
@@allansolano5587 I did say that AI cars have RT in races. And only player car has RT outside the races.
The image on the right with RTX enabled is smoother, while the image on the left is choppy.
No, it is not. This doesn't changes LITERALLY anything at all. RT on Forza are NOT applied to anything but self-car reflections. You are just facing a placebo
To be honest they both look amazing XD
is the rtx 3080 10 gb or 12 gb? if is 10gb, how are you obtaining such low temps and high memory? i have the 10gb one, and my temps are 70c and maximum of 1800mhz in 2k resolution. thank you
RTX 3080 10GB. The GPU is undervolted without any loss in performance.
@@MxBenchmarkPC may i have the undervolt settings? i undervolt mine as well, but not very useful so far. thank you
@skzstyle i did a side-by-side benchmark video about undervolting and i provided a step-by-step guide how to apply it with my custom curve as well (it's a RTX 3060 video, but the undervolting settings will apply to any RTX 30 GPU). You can find it in the multiple games playlist.
@@MxBenchmarkPC thank you!
@skzstyle glad to help.
How is it that the video on the right looks so much smoother despite having worse FPS?
Should have instead compared the old ray tracing to the new stuff tbh.
the fps difference is really small honestly and especially if you use frame generation you can play everything at extreme while always above 160 fps
Tbh the ray tracing is hardly noticeable in free roam, your better offer saving the performance hit and lowering the RT for the garage mode.
Hey thanks. From what I’ve heard is the only Ray Tracing is the car onto itself like the mod that was released a few months back. Is that true?
Ray Traced reflections at Ultra and Extreme presets are applied to all cars in the race.
@@MxBenchmarkPC good to know, thanks!
The only ray tracing is the car to itself.. everything else is still a real time cube map. And it's not applied to all cars in a race. Just yours.
@@derelictdoug4880 Only in Forzavista, not in race, there is mod that applies it to your car but not vanilla game
@@derelictdoug4880 Sorry, my bad, t10 actually added rtx reflections to game, didnt see that. Holly fuck it makses photo mode good. BTW not sure what he has with fps, mine sits at 80-100at all times with everything extreme on ultra wide 1440p monitor 8xmsaa
The issue is that the reflections are only being applied to other parts of the car instead of everything around the car, they could have definitely improved on this since it just looks the same with or without it.
Your Afterburner config looks very useful, could you upload it for others to use?
too bad the benchmark mode race isnt run 100% identical so you could make a nulltest to only show the difference between the two images. because the oly difference i can see is in the mirrors.
Raytracing in FH5 is only realistic Details in Forza Vista mode at the Garage.
I hate when Nvidia is using raytracing only for mirrors/shiny reflections. Raytracing should be used FIRST for: light emitters, more realistic global illumination and diffusion. RT Limited to ScreenSpace is today still better option without hybrid engines. This game u see mostly reflection of the sky.
FH5 RayTracing is pretty crap. I get like 10% extra utilization when its enabled, and I can't tell the difference.
I Can’t see RT difference in ANY game, what’s going on with me?
Bro i have a 2070 super and when i enable dlss in quality mode 0.5 sharpen i have the same fps performance that native 4K.
ULTRA Graphics, but with texture in Extreme, native 58-60 fps with none AA Antialising.
Same Graphics with DLSS in Quality i have 58 fps too, but with AA from dlss. But its a same performance than native. Wtf?!
Forza isnt that much of a gpu bound game as its a cpu bound and if you already have a cpu bottleneck you wont get extra performance because probably you are already using all the headroom you got i will sugest you just use digital foundry xbox series x quality mode settings at 4K and use DLAA instead with 0 sharpness and you will get the best image quality possible with good performance
Same thing here with 3080, exaxt same performance with dlss on or off
Yeah reflections dont do that much of a difference at high speeds at all you really need to pixel peep and depends on the type of paint it will show or not that much even then there is no material awareness every refelction is mirrorlike even if its a rough material and nota clear one but yeah i will rather have rtgi than this, the best thing of this update is DLAA because even dlss has a lot of problems because of how the game engine works
am i blind? i see litterly NO difference... I Bought a RX6900XT Today and tought that i fucked up a driver install or something while trying Horizon 5
This should've been there since launch. I'm sure a lot of people will not see much of a difference, but having the car just essentially be a mirror instead of having proper reflections was annoying. DLAA also takes care of the worst part about the game, which was their ancient AA solution
Ray tracing off dlss on for this title period.
Literally no difference.
So... Atleast side mirrors are different.
the game does not have raytracing other than in garage, u all buffoons))
Is it just me? Or does it feel like the ray tracing is smoother than without
It is
This video really doesn't do it justice, out in the world at extreme setting the ray tracing looks amazing. Tried going back to original lighting and the cars look visually flat in comparison. Definately think it's worth trying if you can run it. Shame it took Playground Games so long to make this happen.
99% of reflections are still a real time cube map, only self-reflections are ray traced
What ligthing ? Rt is only for reflections and unless you use a chrome car and a spoiler on your car or you get to view the side mirrors all the time the ray tracing doesnt have that much of a impact because 99% of the reflections are still cube maps it doesnt even do RT on the world
why is anti aliasing is off
i think with raytracing, the recflections are more fluid. Without raytracing it seems they are stuttering a little bit.
Lol😂 . Good joke
@@BruceWaynex7 no, look at it. If the GPU has enough Power, that the whole Image has a high enough framerate, then it looks like, that only the reflections are more fluid.
But for sure, the GPU must be powerfull enough. If the wholenimage stutters, then it's clear, that also the reflections are stuttering.
Rtx is only in forza vista!!
Don’t be fooled!
It says that in the right part of the screen! 😂
They still didn't fixed that typo in the description? 😂
Identical except for the number of images per second. No interest!
In a few years people will hopefully realize they were sold snake oil - hopefully the youtube shills who marketed this crap to you will not be unscathed. Remember how you were supposed to buy the rtx 20-series because 'ray tracing is the future'?
Yeah how's that working out for you? You would be WAY better off skipping that entire generation and getting a rtx 3060ti over the rtx 2080 if you think you care so dang much. However this is the more important thing - I have never seen 'the future' be a feature that cuts your performance in half. The only way hardware ray tracing could ever be the future is if the cheapest, most entry level of cards can perform like the rtx 4090 in terms of ray tracing.
Anything that requires a $700 gpu to just enter the realm of being possible will not be 'the future' in any reasonable time frame for your $700 investment (bare in mind that doesn't give you the highest end card anymore) to pay off.
Add to that games are developed with consoles in mind, then you have another layer - until consoles can do ray tracing easily, that shit is NOT 'the future'. So MAYBE, the ps6 generation (that is assuming software global illumination like UE5's Lumen don't just take over), you'll need to consider 'ray tracing'...but by that point every card will be able to do it so it's a moot area anyway.
This is not tech for gaming - this is worksation tech for scientists or cgi artists that ngreedia is convincing you to buy, instead of making two lines of gpu.
You're actually reatarded if you believe in anything that you have typed. I guess some poors just can't handle being 3 generations behind....
dawg they only implemented half assed reflections this is not ray tracing ray tracing
This makes me think that RTGI is unnecessary and overrated. Instead of it, I wish other games could use the excellent reflection system that Forza already have.
ray tracing only effects the garages in forza...
Man my RTX 3070 DLSS OFF give more fps =) Dlss in this game is suck
I can't tell the difference
Ray tracing only works in forza Vista
Since November there are 2 new Ultra and Extreme ray tracing presets, which will apply ray traced reflections in free roam and races. You should check the patch notes from November.
@@MxBenchmarkPC I see, ty for that info
it´s almost the same. Just for me.
Не увидел разнцы
There is no difference)
ray tracing does not apply in game. if you think it looks better you have been sugar pilled
If you havent read the last patch notes ray tracing was put in game for pc with 2 new modes rt ultra (enables RT at half res for your car on races and free roam and for every car on photo mode plus the forza vista that already worked before)
And the rt extreme ( basically everything ultra does but at full res instead of half)
I have 3080 12gb version yet, I can't play and record fh5 at 4k settings. This Video shows I should be able to play at 4k smoothly because looking at his specs, and still playing at 4k, my specs should also be able but whenever I try, gameplay is smooth but recorded video is scratchy. I used obs and hav tried any possible settings on UA-cam. Or could it be that, these content creators used different gpu to do the recording? Will be very glad if someone could enlighten me.

I play 100fps + on same GPU with RT extreme ON, DLSS Quality, 4K. It is almost one year from you post now, maybe that time optimization was not so good
NOT RTX
FAKE
So forza 5 isn't like other games with ray tracing where you can for example get 120 fps average then turn ray tracing on and now you get 30 to 50 fps average
