The great thing about fief is there aren't any gimmicks or tricks. These are just solid compositions with no disguises. There's no trying to distract you or hoodwink you with spectacular effects: the composition is put front and centre, no frills, for you to judge on its own merits.
gosh dude, i spent many nights falling asleep with the tv on playing all sorts of movies, newer and older, so I just have a ton of nostalgia for random stuff. The damn Never Ending Story was one movie that I have very specific memories with and this stuff just reminds of that so much. Being a kid, layin in bed watching some old 70s or 80s medieval fantasy type stuff. goooooosh bro
''Morning in the misty valley'' was ringing peacefully in my house, when I show the snow to my son, today, for the very first time ! the first snow for a little happy guy, trying to catch the snowflakes through the window. And this fairy music fits perfectly for this moment... thank you Fief ! all your albums are fantastic !
Oh to let your child grow up with Dungeon Synth. Such things I aspire to do when I become a dad myself, in 30 years. Hope your son is healthy now, and looks back at this album in his teenage years.
This subgenre of synth brings me childhood memories and a strange feeling of nostalgia. Impossible to explain why but its there. Like watching myself as a kid in a tv screen doing whatever I would be doing back then, with this music as soundtrack.
Revivifying this comment because I relate. I've been thinking about dungeon synth as a genre recently and what makes it so appealing. It's not just that it's fantasy music; if you wanted fantasy-flavored music, there are hours of fully orchestrated soundtracks from the likes of Jeremy Soule or Austin Wintory out there for you to listen to. It's that it's synthesized fantasy music. By using or emulating older romplers, samplers, and occasionally actual synthesizers to emulate an orchestra in an overtly synthetic way, I think dungeon synth has an inherent bit of cheese to its aesthetic, but that cheesiness brings with it not only a sense of nostalgia but a lo-fi earnestness that really shines through on works like this (and pretty much the rest of Fief's stuff).
Easily my favorite Fief. A lot of the songs take me back to the early and mid 2000s playing Runescape. Morning In The Misty Valley is ridiculously good, so catchy and uplifting, it puts a grin on my face. KAH BAH GEE!

Sehr gut ! Each song is a tale if you listen :) Magic , nostalgia, beauty, sombre, such variety of textures.Like ancient ruins, overgrown by green forest, waiting to be explored and feel the presence of another time!
another amazing genre introduced to me LOL ive of course listened to this type of music before (celtic/viking/fantasy) plenty but i had no clue there was such thing as dungeon synth lol so cool.
They just seem to be getting better and better. A bright and refreshing stroll through long lost forest paths... If you're going to support one DS artist i'd say there's a strong case for this being the one (the albums are also extremely affordable). Fief albums are my most trusted companion when reading fantasy novels.
Great album! Although it's a little too similar to the first two, it's still gorgeous! I'd like to see this project step out of its comfort-zone a bit on the next release, though. Some of the tracks on here sound too similar to stuff from the previous release. Keep up the magical work!
@ClandestineOstrich Looks alot like The Scholar JRR Tolkiens great works etc. Reminds me a lot of Turin Turambar and many other stories. Children of Hurin is great.
@@Makkaru112 I don't know man, doesn't look much like Tolkien's artwork to me. Perhaps you meant it looks like an illustration of his works by another artist. Either way I agree on the Tolkien praise.
The more you get to know each of them. All out there. You will find that a great many are not all the same. But some yes are using similar skills and tools. But let them create. Its what makes the world go round and transform! 💖
its an extremely low opinion of synthesizers in music, but this is has to be southern gothic. synthesizer relating to dungeon makes no sense to me. a dungeon is just chock full of gassing heads for synthesizers. No!!!! if i owned any synthesizer you won't catch me near sewers and rats with one. i have seen the medieval dungeons and in no way was i going to bring even a lute or guitar down there i mean damn

You put into words what I could not !

Saudade - A feeling of longing, melancholy, or nostalgia
Fantasy, imagination behind it mAybe. If you played D&D it goes without saying it's perfect, id imagine

Fief reminds me so much of the soundtrack of the 90ies game "Knights And Merchants". So nostalgic!
Fief kills me every time. So much magic and dungeon questing haha! I'll love to listen to this while playing Descent 😍💙👏
Oh man.... DESCENT!!! My brother played the hell out of this mind-blowing game back in the days.
no they resurect you👻👻👻
I just heard this was an actual genre yesterday, I used to just call it renaissance music.
Glad it has a genre!
Makes me feel like I'm meeting an old friend i haven't seen in a long time, as we walk around our home town reliving memories
This project gives me this weird, profound nostalgic feeling. It's so bizarre.
because somewhere far away, a long time ago, this all already happened
This is in your blood.
Saudade
You are just remembering one of your past lifes my friend, its normal
Hey Tarbashh, the Egyptian magician!!!
This while sketching some fantasy landscapes or dragons and knights doing battle. Great way to immerse yourself.
We put a fief playlist album with my friends while we're playing D&D. So good, best ambient possible.
The next time my gang and I play D&D, I'll be sure to play Fief.
In grad school with no time, this is the closest I can get to the feeling of reading fantasy. Hails to Fief!
Fief

KAH BAH GEE!
I think this is my favorite of the 5 ... no idea why. They're all great, just this one stands out as my favorite.
Stayed a while and listened
This album must have been transmuted in a horadric cube.
I love how on Bandcamp, 2 out of the 3 albums are best-sellers for dungeon synth. So tight.
My favorite DS artist!
Stunning album, so much feelz
Another instant add to my D&D playlist!

I like it, but I'ma be honest. All dungeon synth pretty much sounds the same lmao.
The more you get to know each of them. All out there. You will find that a great many are not all the same. But some yes are using similar skills and tools. But let them create. Its what makes the world go round and transform! 💖
No, not at all. This is more medieval style. Others are darker and much different. You exposed your total lack of XP brah.
