James, thanks for your courage to be so generous with yourself and your work - LA is a town of insecurity. You rise above, you inspire. Thanks, my man!
I swear I've had times when I've confused Rob and James together when recognizing their voice in a cartoon! Great impression, James :) Rob speaks often about the comradery and respect among voice actors, I wish other lines of work had that great attitude!
LOL Cool on the WKRP reference...that show was one of the things that initially got me interested in doing radio, actually. Just looked it up...it first aired in '78...I was 12. :) 30-some-odd years later, workin' at a small local station, Music Director and announcer. Love my job. :) Anyhow...big Star Wars nut as well, so I totally adore your work as Obi-Wan in Clone Wars. Your reading of The Grinch still makes me laugh out loud every. single. time. :) Would love to hear you do a vlog in Obi's voice just for old times' sake. :D
Hey James, with takes like these that require incredibly high energy, how do you prevent getting any heavy breathing into the mic. I know the guard is there to prevent any direct wind contact, but how do you prevent the actual sound of any breathing from being picked up? Surely activity like this over a long period of time can take a bit of torture on the ol' lungs.
Never thought this kind of thing could be so interesting! And the amount of diligence and patience to do this stuff on a day to day basis, I can only imagine. Very sweet interaction between you and a fan too!
oh my gosh every time you do the lines I immediately see ratchet I my mind talking to a robo fridge you are so awesome JAT you and rob are legendary heroes of mine im speechless mostly from the great work you do.
I love these videos!! I liked hearing the different takes that you guys did. All this helps me to learn more. Thanks again for showing us these sessions.
Awww~ James, can I call you James? your speaking voice is absolutely perfect for voice acting I mean it's clear you know that but wow you are such an inspiration!!!
Not only are you taking the time to demystify the process, you are also teaching us the proper etiquette of being a voice actor. Thank you. Question: Do you find yourself running into other talent that may have skills in animating, voice acting, etc. that use all of these skills in a career? Do you have to be more focused in one discipline, or is it good to be able to do many things?
Thank you for clarifying why you were doing a Rob Paulson job. the VO community really loves and respects one another, that is one of my greatest allures to the craft.
Not too long ago I went to my friend, "I feel like I heard Tidus's voice actor on a radio commercial the other day." Now I know it was true!! XD You're amazing in all you do James!!! Love your acting so much!
Hi James. Try the I-Annotate app. You can break down your scripts with a stylus on screen. I'm guessing the Apple pencil would work well. I use the Media Devil stylus.
So, I'm sure the answer is no for this, but we are doing a dub of the Son of Dathomir comics and are looking for an Obi-wan voice for it. Would you be available? Seriously though, I know you probably can't, and it would be unpaid. So I understand if you say no (which you probably will). Still, love all your work, especially Obi-wan in Clone Wars, but also Ratchet! You're awesome and an inspiration to voice actors anywhere!
Hey James, any chance you can plug some ISDN info? Ive spent a few years upgrading and updating my home studio but not patching in is losing me some work. any recommendations??
I don't know if you take questions from the UA-cam comments section but I'd like to know will you ever host or be in a podcast if you do please announce it I would definitely listen to it( I love you videos Sorry I don't comment more.)
you could always type james arnold taylor podcast, with or without guest after and usually there will be a few. I know he's been on afterbuzz a few times.
James how do you deal with them asking you repeatedly over and over and over to hit different words. I was getting sooooooo annoyed with the people giving you direction. I mean its okay because it's part of the job, but how do you deal with it??
this is interesting, those hand gestures whilst voicing, i do that too for some reason even tho im total shit lol
That little notion at the end of where the girl came in and was a fan. That was cuuuuute.

"An army with no loyalty no spirit just programming! What have you to show for all your power what of you to gain!"
Jeremy sounds like 50% Fred Tatasciore and 50% Jess Harnel!!!!!
lol yeah, I kept thinking of Fred while listening. Jess's voice I think is much higher.

I'm not into VO, but I subscribed because you're a cool dude. Keep it coming
This was fascinating! Would like to see the final advert- there were some Com Ed ones on Breana's site but not the final take of this one.

Hey JAT, do you know if there is a video of the finished production anywhere? I'd be interested to see what outlet and fridge look like. hehe
