Architecture, history, museums, churches, bridges, castles, book stores, food, culture and language. Language is so unusual. Frederickusz interviews, Agi Szabados stories, Blikk tv have captions for learning and hearing the pronunciation. 🎉 Koszonom szepen!

Wow, it’s always very enjoyable to hear foreigners’ opinions and how they see Hungary. I must admit that pork is indeed present in the cuisine, although personally, I have avoided it my whole life. I do eat it occasionally, but it’s very rare, and I think Hungarian dishes made with beef are better: beef goulash, beef stew, hortobágyi pancakes, stuffed cabbage just to mention a few and chicken paprikash made with chicken is also a must try ☺️

It hadn't crossed my mind at first, but could you read and see if my motivation letter might be interesting? 4 people had proofread it, but another opinion never hurts (plus it would give me a slight orientation if my application would be well seen or not)

Hi, I'm Hungarian and I don't eat pork. Not for religious reasons, but because it's fat and I don't like fat. But Hungarian cuisine has many delicious dishes without pork. Goulash soup is not delicious, that's all the tourists know, that's why they always say.. if you want to eat good soup, choose "Jókai bean soup", green pea soup, mushroom soup, cauliflower, etc.. "fish soup" is recommended for fish lovers. For main meals, when it comes to Hungarian food, I recommend stuffed cabbage and chicken with paprika, but we have many delicious chicken dishes. With sour cream, red pepper and many spices typical of Hungarian cuisine. of course, you can find popular cuisines from all over the world. Italy, Mexicó, Turkey, india, China, japan, korea.etc. Until 1990, it was forbidden to speak English, here Russian was compulsory, Russian was taught at school, so the older generation could not speak English unless they were forced to learn it because of their work.

The same situation is in my country and everyone had to learn Russian, but I am glad that the older generation is still so nice and are trying their best to help out. Thank you again.

Honesty always pays off. If it is a problem, better to find it out sooner rather than later. Average people will not make an issue out of it. But the government put things in the constitution like the father is male, and the mother is female end of story. So binary system is favoured here. Transgender movement is not really cool here.

Regarding the english speaking willingness: a lot of people are very uncertain with their abilities in English, so I would say, most of them are rather shy than rude. And basically, the foreign language speaking skills in general still quite bad in Hungary, even with the younger generations, in average. I hope it will change soon.

    • @leyla_kudrat

Hi there! Thank you for your positive feedback. As it comes to LGBTQ+, I don’t think that it can be an issue, however just to warn you, Hungary does not really recognise it. It’s one of the few countries in the EU that’s against it. However, I feel like, it should not be an obstacle at all. Your essay will be first read by your home country. If the essay goes through there, then it will be read in Hungary.
