@@Rhino1277HotRails, I saw Blue Oyster Cult live on Saturday August 6, 2022 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in California. BOC rocked and were so chill at the same time. I loved the show! Before the concert I had only heard (Don’t Fear) The Reaper, Godzilla and Burnin’ for You. Since the concert I have discovered treasure in listening to their albums. I have listened to most of them now more than once. So much wonderful rocking music with good melodies and interesting, thought provoking lyrics. There are many truth drops in their songs. They were shredding before metal was a thing.
What a fantastic video! Eric finally starring in the video that he’s always dreamed to be in! What a wonderful tale told in music and lyrics. The vinyl is sitting on my turntable right now. And OMG laugh out loud hysterical Richie at the end. Love that song. Filthy guitar as the rhythm section never takes its feet off the pedal. Danny and Jules killing it.

BÖC adapting a Lovecraft tale is something I've always wanted!!!!!!! Realizing this song was it was a godsend. Godspeed, you magnificent band and all you ladies, fish, and gentlemen that are avid fans as well.
That's what I thought as well especially after I saw him during an interview. Though in his regular tone and volume when he talks he sounds nothing like he sounds when he's singing. Albeit a lot of that is from the amplification of his voice. He's 75 years old too!! I heard him say that during that interview I saw the other day when he was asked about touring to support this album whenever that may be because of the Chinese disease..."I'd like to (tour) but the Covid thing...and hey I'm 75 years old too so"... I'm paraphrasing but I understood what he was talking about as I'm about 8 or 9 years behind him so...like that dude on the Ancestry commercial says "You never know"...
I've been a huge BOC for decades now. Basically since I was 16 years old. And as much as I love their old stuff, there are times when I think this is their BEST song.
Wow! Just Wow! That was a fantastic song! Truest BOC in it's most pure form. Eric sounds absolutely fantastic and he made me believe the whole story. Bra-vo!
I always said to kids and teen metal heads that "Ghost" is like a souped up Blue Öyster Cult. But these guys come back and play Ghostier music than the actual ghost. FUCK!!!! this is killer material. its weird. one of their best albums, even compared to the 70's material. YOU ROCK
YES!, Eric still brings it BIGTIME!!!!!! Great dual guitar break and shredage! Plus even a guest appearance from Boris Johnson on piano! (Good to see you Andy!)
Complete legends . I remember when I was a kid learning to play don't fear the reaper on my guitar . Seen the original members many times . Thank for the memories fellas .
This is huge ! I was waiting for this song since the first time I listened to a BÖC album in 1978, since the first time I saw you in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1984, in Paris, in Magny-Court, in Munich, since the first time I listened to Astronomy, Reaper, Veterans, Horsemen ! Thanks BÖC. An old fan from France !
I liked the first three songs, but I think I love this one. It feels like something from Black & White period, but with a contemporary finish, plus a good narrative.
Most modern rock bands in 2020: "We can't do anything because of the pandemic." Blue Oyster Cult in 2020: "Let's post a bunch of concert videos from past years on UA-cam, record and release a new album and why not make a couple music videos to promote the album while maintaining proper safety measures."
Interesting comment. Actually, some of their lyrics are gross and not at all wholesome but perhaps part of why their fans seem so relatively clean-cut is that BOC's lyrics don't glorify drugs or even devil-worship. They talk about occult stuff but I don't think they were really satanic or anything like that. Out of curiosity, on what data do you assess the wholesomeness of their fan-base and by what criteria do you compare it o the wholesomeness of other bands' fan bases?

"Perfect Water" is awesome and Buck Dharma s my favorite rock guitarist. I am trying to re-write what my computer ate and am losing interest but anyway loyal schmoyal they were how did I say it underrated and under-achievers. @@Meemitalo_ Keep in mind that these are being made during the pandemic. Everyone in "That was me" was likely filmed separately and then reen screened/spliced together in the editing room. Great job with all the current restrictions.

So when the prince went missing and the mob was at our door

But the prince was still alive
And I said
May never a noble of your murderous line
Survive to reach a greater age than thine
Because I'm the Alchemist creator of your fears
I'm the Sorcerer a curse throughout the years
And I won't rest till no one's left
The ending of your line
Their lives are a prison of my design

It was I, the Sorcerer a curse throughout the years

The ending of your line
Your life is a prison of my design
The final king's obsession to escape impending doom
Reached beneath the castle walls where he chanced upon a room and there he found his enemy, the man who cheated death And I said, with my last breath
It was I, the Alchemist creator of your fears
It was I, the Sorcerer. I've waited all these years
And when you pass you'll be the last
A victim of your line
Your life was a prison of my design
I'm the alchemist, I've lived a dozen lives
I'm the sorcerer, the face of your demise
And from these walls, I've made you all believe this curse of mine
The engineer of all you fear, the terror in your mind
I've sacrificed eternal life for justice for the crime
Our lives were a prison of my design

They were shredding before metal was a thing.
This just may be the heaviest badass song blue oyster cult has ever done. The new album kicks ass
Great work from a great band.
Nowhere near their heaviest.
Try listening to Tyranny and Mutation or Heaven Forbid
What a fantastic video! Eric finally starring in the video that he’s always dreamed to be in! What a wonderful tale told in music and lyrics. The vinyl is sitting on my turntable right now. And OMG laugh out loud hysterical Richie at the end. Love that song. Filthy guitar as the rhythm section never takes its feet off the pedal. Danny and Jules killing it.
kronos77777 you nailed about every great point of this song and video...nice
What a mesmerizing journey that song is .just perfection
Eric sounds better than ever .. his delivery and the lyrics were crystal clear .. I feel like just Ritchie at the end..WTF was that ??? 😳😳😳Exhale
I think they gave Richie that little cameo at the end for writing such a great song
I love the Savatage vibe of this song. Solid tune and record from the almighty BÖC.
yes and hes a huge schenker influenced player so sad once again to be reminded how great criss was and so ahead of his time then it was all gone ....... criss emulated schenker criss is responsible for big genre of music now though he doesnt get headlines for it --- breaks my heart
Yep, definitely a Savatage vibe going here....
BÖC adapting a Lovecraft tale is something I've always wanted!!!!!!! Realizing this song was it was a godsend. Godspeed, you magnificent band and all you ladies, fish, and gentlemen that are avid fans as well.

Are you serious ? And are you a new fan ?
@@Neilbear5820 Nuh uh, been a fan since I was 13. I'm almost 17 now.

Like reaping pieces of Legend!
Probably one of Eric's strongest vocals ever. Classic BÖC 🤘🏻
This is glorious. A full return to form, absolutely on par with anything they ever did.
This is a step further from original form, its brilliant!!
I've been a huge BOC for decades now. Basically since I was 16 years old. And as much as I love their old stuff, there are times when I think this is their BEST song.
Quintessential BOC. I'm glad these guys are still kickin it after all these years.
I usually gravitate to Bucks songs but this new kid (Richie) cannot be ignored. Outstanding
Wow!
YOU ROCK
I really like ghost and Meliora is a masterpiece, but still they have nothing on BoC.
Who?
@@IMajst3RI neverheard
A hard rock band from Sweden
They have been part of my lifetime sound track.
Losing 2 Rock Gods This Year, in Neil & Eddie, it's wonderful to see BOC come out with an album that sounds phenomenal so far !!
Richie plays a Peavey EVH Wolfgang guitar in this video, which is probably not a coincidence. :)
YES!, Eric still brings it BIGTIME!!!!!! Great dual guitar break and shredage! Plus even a guest appearance from Boris Johnson on piano! (Good to see you Andy!)
Real rockers never fade, never lose it, and only get better with age. Fantastic guys. Love it.
The Symbol Remains and so do Blue Oyster Cult, great song, reminded me
of the Cult classic - 'Flaming Telepaths' in places!
Man when that guitar(s) solo kicks in.......
Man I've never heard heard a lovecraft story
Taken to song form so well
Complete legends .
Un fan français de Blue Öyster Cult ne peut être qu'un homme bien 😁
One of the best BÖC songs ever.
I liked the first three songs, but I think I love this one. It feels like something from Black & White period, but with a contemporary finish, plus a good narrative.
Most modern rock bands in 2020: "We can't do anything because of the pandemic."
Blue Oyster Cult in 2020: "Let's post a bunch of concert videos from past years on UA-cam, record and release a new album and why not make a couple music videos to promote the album while maintaining proper safety measures."
Love your comment...BOC rose above the coronavirus and saved the world.
Thanks! I love your comment! BOC rocks on!
And put out a bunch of live albums too!
And do a live concert at a drive in theater so people can stay in their cars.
@@stevebrown6623 Their former drummer also records and issues a new album, films videos and does a livestream concert.
What a voice, so well preserved! Eric is 77 yo in 45 days and still a young boy. What a singer! What a song! What a band! Congratulations!
I discovered BOC just this year and I can’t believe how underrated they are. And I was even more surprised by how wholesome the fan base is.
Yes some Blue Boys survived I am not sure what's left of me just living out my tragic fate. But listening to epic BOC!
@@edwardmorris3453 Maybe the poster could have chosen a better adjective. How about loyal? I’ve been a fan since the SFG. My love of the band has never waned.
@@stevekampf7825 Maybe he meant what he said. I'm not a fan and don't know what SFG is. Sounds like something to want not to be put in food. Anyway, I got Fire Of Unknown Origin on vinyl when I was 17 and I thought it was cool. I bought some more records and mostly I was disappointed. I way dug certain cuts off of Club Ninja. "Perfect Water" is awesome and Buck Dharma s my favorite rock guitarist. I am trying to re-write what my computer ate and am losing interest but anyway loyal schmoyal they were how did I say it underrated and under-achievers. I also said I'm not a "fan" of artists in general because mostly there's just disappointment and I also said some stuff about how old duffers rest on their laurels - jeez, this is like trying to recount a dream - anyway I have a soft spot for BOC and am really glad they came out with this new album and I better post before my computer eats this like it did the last!
@@edwardmorris3453 SFG was Stalk Forrest Group, the band that later became BOC. You can find SFG on YT. A bit psychedelic yet heavy like the BOC s/t.
Richie is killing it with these video productions, not like the old days when a band would pay 10's if not 100's of thousands of $$ for a vid.
These videos have been cheap, but fun and actually let the song do what it's supposed to do.
Has been much appreciated.
I get it, cheap videos. This actually looked pretty good nevertheless! 'That Was Me' was the first one I saw and it was a bit of a shock. It's quite an awful video to be honest. But at least the music is good!
@@mungosmungo8694 I agree, keeping production in-house lowers cost and we're more likely to see videos for more songs. He's doing a great job.
@@Meemitalo_ Keep in mind that these are being made during the pandemic. Everyone in "That was me" was likely filmed separately and then reen screened/spliced together in the editing room. Great job with all the current restrictions.
@@itsno1953 I know and I accept it but I'm judging it the way I see it. If it wasn't for the pandemic, my reaction would be like 'what the hell is this? Come on, you could've done a better job...'
Better job, which they actually did on the later videos because I don't think they all are that bad
Such a terrific, original band; vastly under-rated for 50 years. This stacks up with some of their best tunes from the '70's...
3:16, that dual guitar attack, section, is wonderful! They are burning up those fret boards!
The new BÖC album is easily the best thing that happened in 20fucking20!
Deep Purple's Whoosh was pretty good too... Some great legends coming out of the woodwork this year for sure.
agree 1 million % - best album ever and this video is such fun too!
@@paddypace and there's still AC/DC's new one to come
While you're not wrong it's not like they actually had proper competition.
Is The Best álbum of The year next to HEAT II
Fabulous song! Eric Bloom sounds amazing on this. The whole group is cooking like never before.
YOU OLD BASTARDS!!! Thank you for taking care of yourselves enough so that at 55 my favorite band is still making excellent music. (And I came to the party late mind you.) If you're not taking care of yourselves then I want to thank your parents for the genes they passed on to you. What a fucking treat. A treat I never would have thought possible listening to you as a young man.
0:08 that's exactly how I used to picture in my mind Baron Von Frankenstain's castle at Weisseria!
Although all the songs on this album have something that hooks you in, I have to say this is my favourite song on the album, lyrics, music, that guitar drop, and after watching Ritchie's Q&A on the making of the album, the story behind making the song.
Where can one find the documentary for it?
@@tjsmith7753 Hope Dan does't mind me answering......go to Richiecastellano on you tube and you should see the 2 hour Q & A pop up for viewing.
Brilliant! BOC's new album and Albert´s "Re imagining Imaginos" are among the few good memories we shall have from this awful year.
Also Joe Bouchard’s Strange Legends
Fantastic / Amazing - Many Hails To Blue Oyster Cult!
THIS is why I look forward to new music by my all-time favorite band: Blue Oyster Cult! I've seen them live three times, and this video reminded me that I should be paying attention to their website for their next tour. Their music has never gotten old!
Awesome dueling guitar solo
Such amazing songwriting...this song has terminal velocity...love it!
started listening to these guys during the lockdown, then they released their first album in 19 years.
Welcome to the Cult.
What took so long?
What a lucky guy you are, discovering BOC now, i would it happens the same for me every day ;)
One of The best and most amazing Rock bands of all time, and still rocking after all those years.
BOC ABSOLUTELY KILLING IT WITH THIS SONG!!! Great lyrics! Great vocals! Great guitars! Great bass & drums! Great piano! Great Mix! Great Video! Great all around production! GREAT SONG!!! GREAT ALBUM!!!
Another sublime track by the Kings of the shadow on the highway of night... Welcome Back, guys
Having read the original Alchemist, this is pretty damn solid.
Yeah, despite being a somewhat barebones music video it does a pretty incredible job at capturing the mood of the original story.
reminds me of “Black Blade” or “Veterans of a Psychic War”
And a bit of Astronomy as well.
Remind me....a possible track for IMAGINOS 2?
@@ArthaxtaDaVince777 definite Astronomy vibes
To me, is a mix between Astronomy and doom metal stuff.
Much better!!
Bloom was born for this role. Perfect.
This is epic, welcome back boys...the last concert I saw this year was BOC in Atlanta in February, UFO canceled so BOC played two sets...they still kill it live too.
Happy Birthday for 1st of December Eric Jay Bloom. Thank you - and the boys in all the line-ups of the Blue Oyster Cult, for sharing your talents with us. Live long sir, stay safe.
This song is already a Blue Oyster Cult classic. My favorite track on the new album. This song rocks so hard. Perfect!!
Got to have this on vinyl. They still sound amazing . This has made my year. Love this band.
Actually one of their best songs of all time imo.
Geezus holy heaven on toast! Being in your 70s isn't what it used to be. They are still incredible!
I think this is the best one you've put out on this album thus far
