What lens do you use for street photography?
I use almost every lens for street photography as I own all lenses and it’s always a battle choosing a focal length but I always end up taking my xf33 mm as it it’s good for portraits and some environmental shots but I use the 16-55 too but sometimes find it a bit big but otherwise find zoom’s better because of versatility
@@Snapit551 You own all lenses? Damn! ^^
@@ThierryGibralta yes except for the f2 primes and I bought every new prime lens instead
@@ThierryGibralta I even use my 50-140 for street photography too sometimes but recently I’ve been using the viltrox xf75 mm and it’s awesome for street where I want just a single subject to stand out with some bokeh to fill the negative space in the photo
I love the 16-80 F4. Not the fastest lens, so not the best at night (although I've used it successfully many times for night shoots), but for daytime shooting, it works great for me. Covers all the focal lengths I would typically use for street and especially for travel. Not the lightest or most compact lens, but I find it's lightweight enough for me to carry it on my XT5 for easily 8 hours a day.
I first got the 18-55mm with my xt30ii, and if I had to take one lens on an important trip I’d choose this one for better coverage. True, it’s f2.8-4 but add the lens stabilisation and goes on par with the other primes in terms of low light capabilities. For a prime the 35mm feels more comfortable to me and I chose the 1.4 older version instead as the results touched my creative side and it’s got more personality. This one is becoming my number one favourite lens with ease. Lately I got a Voigtlander 23mm f1.2 to challenge myself and it’s definitely one of a kind.
As the video says though, buy a small manual zoom lens. If you’re interested to know how it feels to have a prime, set it to a specific focal length and don’t change it to understand the limitations and creativity it brings.
33mm 1.4, 18mm 1.4, 56mm 1.2
A good photo is taken by the photographer... and not the camera... the X-T1 is more than enough. A good meal is made by the cook and not the pan! But how we allow ourselves to be manipulated by the industry!
I will never sell my two X-T1's! For street I am using my 35mm f1.4.
Greetings from a Swiss living in the Caribbean❤
Voigtlander 23, 27 ou 35mm sur X-Pro 3 :)
What about XT30 ll with XF27mm f2.8 R WR Lens for daily use and for Streetphotography ?
I’ve recently bought the camera though it doesn’t have IBIS and Weather Protection. Do create any problems ?
Great video 👍 what about a wide zoom like the xf10-24 lens ? Is this any good as a daily street lens on one body and another short prime like the 33mm as a street setup
This lens can work as well. I use it mostly for travel but it is also very versatile. So yes, very usable!
I love your videos. We have lenses in common. My desert island pair would be the 18 1.4 & 70-300. I recently got the Samyang AF 75 1.8 for jazz club photography. I struggled between getting the Cyclops, Viltrox 75 1.2 & its 77mm filter thread, and Fuji 90 2.0 and the Samyang. It weighs 1 lb. less than the Viltrox. It might be a good one to review for street.
Actually, I had to send it back. Maybe don't bother.
Oh why is that?
The first copy I got shut off both my X-T1 & X-T5. The second copy was overexposing by 2 stops when using manual shutter and aperture with Auto ISO.
Yes to the last question! This street photographer wants to buy more third party lenses ❤.
I will prepare that as well 😉
Love the video. Thoughts on the 27MM pancake?
I also like 27mm. Not my favorite focal though but that’s just personal
I actually use the Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-F4 on my Nikon D5500
Where did you get that lens case? It’s so cool!
I will make a video about it ;)
Lol I feel like being that guy with 5000 bags on his back, but it's just my camera bag loaded. Though through I shooting day I try my best to stick to one lens, if needed I'll definitely swap lenses in order not to lose a good shot.
I am trying to get a smaller day bag for carrying just enough gear rather than being prepared for nuclear day, but it's a work in progress. Probably a 20L bag might do the trick.
Yeah as photographers we always have the fear of missing out on a shot but well… at the end of the day we don’t REALLY NEED everything we bring…
@@ThierryGibralta on a good day I'd probably have used about 70% of what I decided to carry, on a bad day I probably used the one body and the one lens glued to it 🤣👌
But my choice of gear is logical, if I'm going to a place I'm familiar to, or I have easy access to it, I'd probably go as minimalistic as possible, but if my visit is more of a once in a life time deal then it's lens extravaganza gazillion backpacks 🤣🤣🤣
Yet I'm doing better, I shoot mostly with zooms so I'm already carrying less than prime shooters do, the problem is when I decide to bring a few primes along for those maybe shots, like a macro lens, or a ultra-wide, or astro, that's the I pay the payload penalty.
Thanks for the videos 😁👍👍 Please don't miss the fall colors, perfect time for photography.
Too late, I broke the bank! 🤣
I feel you…
Those piggy bank didn't stand a chance 😔
what brand are your glasses?
That's the first time I get this question ahah!
JINS, they have shops everywhere in Japan.
@@ThierryGibralta very nice looking glasses, Thierry
Thank you
Would you mind noting what's the street price for 23/33mm F1.4 in Japan? I'm going there soon!
XF23mmf1.4 - 111,260¥
XF33mmf1.4 - 97,800¥
@@ThierryGibralta Thanks a bunch! I'm definitely be buying some lenses there!
@@sil3ntscr3amlx it is a GREAT time, especially if you have dollars now… 150.38¥ for 1$ this morning…
@@ThierryGibralta I won't be at Tokyo unfortunately. Hope to find good pricing in Fukuoka or Osaka.
@@sil3ntscr3amlx the prices should be the same
It's ridiculous how much the lenses are taped up on the counter, it's horrible and laughable.
You mean at the shop? Yeah unfortunately… I guess they had some issues with people running away with them…
Yeah, at the store on the counter.
With a camera like that, I'd run away too. Heh.)
