She did it on the second or third take (she'd trained with a basketball coach for a few weeks with this in mind) and it landed absolutely perfectly, nothing but net...Perlman was so stunned he broke character and yelled something like "FUCK YEAH!" which is why his reaction is cut short. It's one of the most amazing physical things I think I've ever seen an actor do on film.
It is. I think there was a question of how many of those experiments there were - Ripley looks down at that double-square tattoo on her arm and we realize it is actually an "8."
That was a terrific and emotional scene-but then it was followed up by the odd juxtaposition of a jokey remark by Perlman’s character that immediately cheapened the previous scene’s impact (the “waste of ammo” comment). I don’t dislike this film nearly as much as some people do. In fact, I find a lot to like in it. But my major problem with it is that its tone is totally schizophrenic.
24:47 The reason why he called Earth a "shithole" is because in the extended / alternative version it is shown that the surface of Earth has become a wasteland.
@@SubterrelProspector I was never sure about the ending. I think it was a destroyed Paris that they showed but I never knew if it was already like that before they came back or if it's like that because the space station they programmed to crash destroyed it.
That discovery that Ripley Eight's own blood was acid should have been the biggest shock of the film, but what's more horrifying is the fact that due to the genetic crossing, these Xenomorphs are actually _far more intelligent_ than the previous incarnation of the species.
In "Aliens" Ripley comments that the aliens don't f*ck each other over, in "Resurrection", once combined with human DNA, they f*ck each other over as part of the escape.
@@benhudson9790 Who can really say? Perhaps they also understood the concept of self-sacrifice, and the smaller one decided to let its broodmates kill it and was able to communicate that to them for the very purpose of escape. I believe the novelisation makes some mention of that. What's even scarier is that the novelisation mentions that these Xenomorphs can understand _WRITING._
FUN FACT: That backwards basketball ball shot was real and done on one take. The intention was for her to mime the action, and they would digitally insert the ball later. Sigourney said, "We'll let me try it at least once." So they did. Cameras rolling. She made the shot. 🏀 Then Ron Pearlman almost ruined the shot cause of his reaction. 😆 There's behind the scenes footage of the full shot.
I _love_ that behind the scenes footage where you can hear Ron saying, _“I f#&__#3d__ up!”_ a couple seconds after he realized he broke character because of his reaction.
It wasn't one take. It was 35 attempts. It was the last attempt that they could make that day, and it was nearly ruined by Ron Perlman losing his shit.
The scene where Ripley walks in to see all of the experiments in containers was the first time Sigourney saw those props. She wanted an authentic reaction
17:18 If you pay attention to Ripley's behaviour in this scene, you'll notice, that her movement is very similar to that of the xenomorphs. The way how she quickly "stands up" and looks down and the way how she grabs her neck is the same way how xenomorphs have done it in other movies.
so the humanoid white xeno didnt see the alien queen as its mother, thats why it killed her. it saw ripley as its mother which is why it followed her to the ship
The hosts DNA is not changed, Ripley's DNA is changed because she died while carrying the Queen and the cloneing process merges their DNA as there is very little left of Ripley and the Queen to clone from, they basically clone a hybrid
No, the host DNA has to change, otherwise cloning would get you just Ripley with no Queenburster. And it makes sense, if you think about it. Our immune systems would try to reject and attack any foreign tissue, so the Xenomorph must have some way to fool our bodies into thinking it belongs there. Modifying our DNA with a bit of its could accomplish that.
@@royalecrafts6252 i think the idea was to get a pure queen alien, on the surface, it is. But as seen in the film, it still has a bit human in it. ripley is the same, mostly human with a pinch od alien. In a sense this means neither was a pure alien/human which they wanted.
As a 90s kid this was my first alien movie,so have a soft spot for this movie the aesthetic makes sense to me because most movies in the 90s looked and felt like that.
The irony that almost everyone misses is that the 2nd film IS copying the first. Seriously - it's so close to being the same plot just cut up and changed slightly with a much more action oriented lean to the script vs the horror in the original. Let me break it down for you just so you know I'm not just being hyperbolic: Aliens = Alien #1. Newt = Jones the cat. #1a. Initial Newt scene is like an alien on the movement sensor = Initial movement sensor sweep of alien finds Jones, both almost end with Jones/Newt getting shocked/shot. #1b. Ripley endangers Hicks and Bishop to go look for Newt = Ripley endangers Lambert and Parker to go look for Jones. #2. Hudson = Lambert, both characters are basically an insert for the audiences fears. #3. Burke = Ash, the conniving psychopathic, company centric operator. #4. Atmosphere processor reactor = Nostromo engine reactor, both scripts push to the final encounter with the alien through the danger of the impending explosion of the reactor. #5. Derelict space ship in Aliens special edition cut = derelict space ship in Alien. #6. Message from Burke to LV-426 = Message from The Company to Ash. #7. Stowaway alien queen on drop ship 2 = stowaway alien on Nostromo life pod. #8. Final fight with alien queen ending with ejecting into space = final fight with alien ending with ejecting into space. #9. Hicks = Parker, both are basically Ripley's love interest, Hicks is just a lot more obvious about it while Parker's attraction to her is masked by his passive aggressive behavior. #10. Team commander Gorman dies in an air duct = Nostromo captain Dallas dies/gets abducted in an air duct (in the theatrical cut). There is a scene which is even more egregious than those above, because it not only lifts the same visual/plot elements, but also lifts Jerry Goldsmith's score cue titled "The Recovery" wholesale from the Alien soundtrack as the background music for this scene in both cuts of Aliens. The scene in question is when Ripley and Newt are making their way out of the atmosphere processor waiting for the elevator to arrive just prior to its explosion, and the xenomorph queen pokes its head around the corner. At the exact moment the xenomorph queen appears the Goldsmith score cue plays. In Alien the score cue plays when Ripley is on the way to the life pod/shuttle with Jones in tow before the Nostromo engine explodes, and the xenomorph appears causing Ripley to drop Jones and run back to the engine control room. For time reference (H:M:S) the scenes in question happen at '01:37:24' in Alien Theatrical Cut, and at '02:18:35' in the Aliens Directors/Extended/Special Edition Cut.
@@mnomadvfxwrong...too long to cover all the bs, but they ditched everything but the main character and the Alien. It was a straight high temp action movie. And if you delve too deep, Aliens was incoherent and made very little sense. In fact, the plot was stupid.
My first reaction after watching the Newborn- "What the HELL is that ABOMINATION!?" Btw the humanoid Xenomorph is called the Newborn and also love the movie❤
28:25 Poor Ripley Seven... But it's amazing the amount of detail that went into creating each of Ripley Eight's clone sisters. Ripley Seven even has chrome teeth like a Xenomorph.
I stay away from reactors that won't watch a movie because of negative comments. As movie reactors it's literally content for the channel so why not watch everything and form your own opinion. That's what makes a channel interesting and appealing to a larger audience. I appreciate your approach to giving everything a chance and being surprised one way or the other.
This is going to be pedantic, but the correct word for a series of four is "tetralogy" (tetra = four, logos = word). Pace illiterates at Fox who barbarously mix Greek and Latin in one word.
Jean-Pierre Jeunet was one of the directors of the City of Lost Children (french - 1995). Fantastic movie. Ron Perlman and Dominique Pinon were also in it. I love all of the Alien movies for different reasons. Love the change they did for Ripley. Love how Sigourney played it. Great cast in support. Fantastic production.
I'm glad you have this opinion on controversial entries in a series. Many reactors just listen to the criticism and skip the entry, forgetting that it is still an entry in a "series" and so it is opinion to the plot and lore even if it is disliked. God job!
I don't consider it part of the lore, personally. I think many reactors will skip it (or delay their reactions indefinitely) because there are so many other movies and franchises to watch, and maybe they also think they won't get many views, which is a valid concern, whether that would be true or not in any particular case.
@marco31 I do ignore these movies. I'm not ignorant of their existence, they're just not part of the story, in my view. Are you telling me what to think and how to view things? Maybe the government will make laws about that soon, telling us how to view and talk about everything, under the threat of punishment. Would you support that?
You are not crazy at all. This is an amazing B-movie. The cheesiness just doesn't fit in with the rest of the Alien series which is the problem. It sucks as an "Alien movie", but that does not change the fact that it's still an amazing "B-movie". Gotta separate the two. It's been quite a while since I last watched Resurrection, and I had a BLAST! Romulus is kind of like if Resurrection was shot more seriously.
General Perez is one of my favorite parts of this film. He's a completely no nonsense straight man regarding the project of resurrecting the xenomorphs, but also has zero illusions about what they're making. First hint of a problem and it's everyone off the boat, no xenomorph is allowed to leave. While his death sucks, he's also given what I consider to be the best death by xenomorph ever with the lingering shot, slow realization, and the act of reaching back to pull out and look at his own brain.
If I remember correctly, there supposed to be a comic book where it was going to be a three-way crossover between alien, predator and Terminator that takes place after this movie
Just like Alien³, I love this movie - it made such an impression on me back when I watched it on VHS in 99. The FX are awesome and I love the characters and humor in it. Another one that is criminally underrated.
I appreciate the classical literary work of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein that is present in all the Alien films, but especially more "in your face" in this film. If you read and are knowledgeable of the literary classics, you have a deeper understanding and appreciation for modern interpretations/adaptations we see in film today.
This might be a controversial opinion but I think Prometheus SLAPS. You seem to like Alien lore and Prometheus gets into that big time and answers *some* important questions about the origin of the species. Even if you don't enjoy it, it is worth watching for what I believe is a MASTERCLASS performance by Michael Fassbender.
I agree I honestly loved Prometheus I felt it answered some questions I had regarding how the aliens came to be at least they give a snippet of what happened.
Promethus is NOT the "origin of the species"... the Xenomorph is the default bioweapon state of the Engineer's terraforming tool, the black goo. If activated. David does not "create" xenomorphs. He is a child who was playing with the keys to a gun cabinet full of loaded guns. Xenomorphs predate the events of Prometheus by millenia.
They brought in Jeunet to make an Alien movie and they got an Alien movie made by Jeunet. I have a soft spot for it but with some tinkering it could have been great. I love the Jeunet "look" and direction.
The problem is that while that sounds cool and all, it doesn't mesh with a Joss Whedon script. Point of fact it's almost comical how badly the directors artistic ambition and the actual script don't mix. Like oil and water.
One of the things I like about this movie is that, since they wanted to show how having some Xenomorph DNA merged with her own affects Ripley's character, they allow Sigourney Weaver to play to her full height (5'11"? 6"?) instead of using filming tricks to make her appear more of a "normal" female height.
This was my first Alien movie that I saw in the cinema. The previous 3 I got to watch on vhs tapes and/or the local erm... pirating tv channel (back when there were almost to no regulations). So, in my heart, this holds an important spot and yes, as many have said so far, I think it's such an underrated movie. Glad that you got to watching it, cheers
6:55 Yes, Brad Dourif played Wormtongue in LOTR and he played Piter De Vries in Dune (1984). But his most iconic role was playing Charles Lee Ray/ Chuckie in the Child’s Play franchise.
I was a couple years shy of being old enough to watch the first Alien film in theaters, and while it's a classic, I've watched Resurrection more times than the first film. It just entertains me more.
so glad you guys gotta chance to enjoy this movie. agreed there are some flaws with the film but the practical effects, set design, and score for sure make up for all that. i mean for a 90's sci fi it is a pretty awsome film. i never get tired of seeing the xenomorphs and how they move and hunt. thank you so much for the amazing reaction and hope you all have an amazing day. keep rocking 🤘
One thing I realised in watching this movie is that it's basically Joss Whedon's First Draft of the Firefly TV show. Seriously, go back and look at the crew. Mal, Jayne, River, all the characters from Firefly are sort-of there. You can see all the things that would evolve.
@@jaimicottrill2831 I know it's been 21(!) years, but I can still get randomly annoyed about the cancellation of Firefly. That series could have been one of the best sci-fi series ever made, if it had gotten like five seasons. Even with less than a season it's still one of the GOATs though.
The xenomorph hybrid (included xenomorph Ripley) and the predalien from avp requiem are one of the most powerful monsters in the franchise. Truly gorgeous abominations.
I agree. People prefer the first 2 movies, but I think they have very common stories. This movie is more original, I love the funny/unhealthy/strange ambiance, the actors, the characters. This movie is really great.
Yeah, I also now love him in Clear & Present Danger, The Rock, and an X-Files ep too, it's only re-watching 90s stuff after watching BrBa that I notice him and each time his acting is great in the small part back then!
Alien 4 is what happens when you bring Jean-Pierre Jeunet, a french cult filmmaker, to direct a Alien movie written by Joss Whedon. Also plaqued by studios interference, but Jeunet still comes through (and brings some of his "regulars" like Ron Perlman to the production). I would strongly suggest to add at least Jeunet's most commercial (cult) movie "Amélie" to your reaction list. One of my favorite films to this day. Also... The original alien saga... Ridley Scott, James Cameron, David Fincher and Jean-Pierre Jeunet, what a list of world class directors...
Whedon wrote the initial script. It was changed so much he disavows it, and with good cause. You can find the origional if you look hard enough, and it is nothing like this. And only the French and a handful of wannabes would call Jeunet world class at anything except fart sniffing.
City of the Lost Children (La Cite des Enfants Perdus) is another Jeunet classic, and also stars Perlman and Dominique Pinon (or several of him, LOL). It is one of the few foreign films I watch with the English voice dub because there are such amazing sets and cinematography, you miss so much if you're distracted by the subtitles in this one.
I hate that this film wasted so much potential. It felt like there was just enough storyline for Ripley, but nobody else. Having Brad Dourif for an Alien film and barely making use of him in a mad scientist role seems criminal. A 3+ hour cur of this movie might have given the supporting cast much more depth.
Getting forcibly pushed or sucked through a too-small hole is one of my worst nightmare ways to die. With that in mind, I did feel sorry for the infant.
I don't know why many people hate this movie, I think it's very good, it has a certain bizarre tone at times and a certain author's style that makes it special and different from the previous ones.
This director has an incredible distinct style. His movies are not always great watches, but they are incredibly provocative and visually stunning. I remember being familiar with the director when I first saw this movie, so some of the craziness wasn’t surprising. I knew what I was in for.
Ripley was (in the plot) brought back because they couldn't get the xenomorph without the host, they tried several times as the one scene showed. But they would have killed off Ripley after retrieving the xenomorph imo, unless they already knew she was special. Well they should know if they touched her blood with anything.
14:49 "they look a bit different don't they" The in-story explanation is that the queen also has some human dna in her, so the xenos have a more "fleshy" appearance Though it was more likely that the design team (Woodruff and Gillis, from the previous movie too) just preferred the more "monstrous" desing over the original's more bio-mechanical
holy sht y'all ARE watching this one huh? i have a soft spot for Resurrection, it's immediately not as serious, and it's more of an action sci fi with Aliens in the mix, but i think what it does right, it does it REALLY WELL, and what it doesn't or what feels a bit more whimsical, isn't too overwhelming and doesn't ruin the experience. it's just a fun ride with more xenos :v *edit* funny enough, the director's cut adds some really needed ties to previous movies, including Ripley's memories of newt, her death on Fiorina, and even the fate of Weyland-Yutani (apparently got bought by walmart 🤣)
"Get away from her you b*tch" is still up there for me. As for "monster's mother" like everything good in Resurection it was forever spoiled and tainted by this god awful mess of a third act.
The Exorcist 3 (1988) - absolute peak-creepy Brad Dourif performance. Some of the best acting ever in a supernatural horror film. Also very good in a 1-off guest appearance on Babylon 5 in the mid-90s.
Thank you both for the consistent output of quality content guys. So appreciate it. Loving your stuff. Easily my favourite reaction channel I've seen and I've seen a LOT.
YES! The most underrated of the Alien movies! I always view it as more of a comedy in the Alien universe than as opposed to the more scary earlier ones. I always enjoy it when i watch it!
So many decades later... I'm still pissed for the pointless death of the "cool shooting guy" (named like this to avoid spoilers in the comment). If they only made clear SOMEHOW that he was actually done for, it would have made sense as "noble sacrifice", but like this it looks more like a premature pointless suicide.
I remember that when the movie was in theater in France, Sigourney Weaver was interviewd on the country main channel main news show. They showed sneak peak of the movie (The underwater aliens and the basketball shot) and I remember miss Weaver being SUPER proud of succeeding in the basketball shot
I LOVE 3 and 4! Unrelated. The French actor that played Viriess in the wheel chair is Dominique Pinon. He and Ron Pearlman are in an incredible film called "The City of Lost Children". Its excellent! I think you guys would really appreciate it.
Say what you want but this movie looks awesome and the practical effects are out of this world! Also this movie gets under my skin so much 😅 the vibe, music, that horrifying albino alien thing idk creeps me out for real
i like it took ripley full circle asa whole in the end compared to the first film where she feared the xenomorph to having no fear and becoming like them and so much stronger too
Depending on who you listen to, she either pulled it off on the first take or she took fifty takes and eventually they just had her toss it over her shoulder and they dropped another basketball into the net from off-camera.
When they find out that the girl is an android, the guy that was in the mobile chair says "you're second gen, aren't you"? is an easter egg. The same actor says the same line in the original Bladerunner to the 2 androids (Roy and Chris) that come to his house.
We finally found one where Denise wouldn't "boop the snoot"! 😂😂😂 This movie was full of curveballs and change-ups for this series. It's a crazy ride. Now it's time for the prequels: Prometheus and Covenant. Great reaction! ❤❤
When this came out in 1997, cloning was very controversial (and maybe still is) when Dolly the sheep was born the year before. It was an easy way to bring back Ripley.
Two things to realize about this movie...first a form of the alien finally makes it to Earth as Ripley hybrid and second..androids are named alphabetically in each movie, Ash, Bishop, Call, next is David.
There's an extended version of this movie showed them landing on the post apocalyptic Earth landscape with Call and Ripley sitting down for a conversation. It's a far better ending than the theatrical version imo. Alien fans should really seek out an excellent fan edit called Alien Rebirth that felt closer in tone with the first two movies and yes, including regaining memories of Newt you two mentioned.
@@Robert_Douglass are you referring to the extended cut or the fan edit? The extended cut can be found on the Blu-ray while the fan edit can be found and requested from some sites (hint: the word that UA-cam hates starting with "red" and ends with "dit".) I don't think it's possible for anyone to upload any Alien movies on YT due to copyright.
The film that got me into the Alien franchise. Fun action moments, funny moments, great effects. Yes, there are some silly moments, but overall, it's a good movie.
And when you've watched those two train wrecks you can safely revisit this film and smile while thinking of the good 'ol days when people actually put effort into these movies. Trust me, you'll have a whole new appreciation for this after watching one android tell another to blow while he does the fingering. And that is merely one part of two very poorly written movies where characters make obviously stupid choices. It will be aggravating.
For me Prometheus & Covenant are worst alien movies ever made 😢 .. shocking that they were made by Ridley Scott himself. PS: even avp1&2 was more fun and make more sense. Only good thing about Covenant is Michael Fassbender 😢
Strangely, this was the first Aliens movie I ever saw. My aunt took me to see it in the theater. I may've seen parts of others or something, but this launched me into Aliens fandom. Yes, that was Brad Dourif, who I later fell in love with. He was Wormtongue, he played the main villain in one of the games of my favorite video game series of all time, and he's the voice of Chucky, the little murdering doll (Not to mention played the human version, Charles Lee Ray).
IMO, this is the sexiest Ripley. The way she carries herself not only projecting her height ( an ever 6'0" ), and just stares and watches, like an beast woman studying her prey. You don't have to know that she has super strength to know that she's capable of breaking you. And I'd be SO down for that. Sigourney
Guys, I've been waaaaiting for you to watch this one. There's not a lot of people reacting to this because I do think the Alien fanbase probably tells them to stop at Aliens. But you two are so good at film analysis and breaking things down and I've been REALLY looking forward to hearing your take on it. I like Resurrection only because of the Ripley superhero kind of aspect but the heart and purpose of the story is missing. It's sort of in the realm of AVP where its a fun outlandish popcorn type film but a lot of Alien fans don't really consider this, as well as 3, part of the cannon of 1 and 2. As I've gotten older watching this franchise, you really have to look at each film completely separate from each other as a stand alone movie. That's my best way to appreciate them. But Aliens is the only sequel that respects and understands the origins and improved upon it. It should've ended there. love you guys and now its time for Prometheus hahaha
The only big thing that gets me nowadays watching this is the white lighting halo in their eyes during many closeups, simply because we're used to it mostly on closeup YT vids and such, kinda knocks me out of the movie world and back to reality, but as for the script itself, it's sort of B-movie action rental style but still a LOT of fun (ok yep, perhaps an Alien movie should not be 'fun' but I'm glad Alien 4 exists, is all I'm saying)
26:49 _"Earth, man....what a shitehole!"_ If you'd chosen to watch the Special Edition, all the way through to the end, you'd have seen just how much of a "shitehole" Earth has become in the 24th Century of the Alienverse.
Im glad you guys got to see this. I recommended it a while ago after the 2nd one. Not a big fan of the 3rd but this one seemed to go back to it's roots a bit, and added some unexpected Pure Sci Fi Icing on the Cake. I really loved Siguerny and Winona being in it. I don't think it works without that being done so well. And the writing wasn't bad. Very creative.

@@royalecrafts6252 i think the idea was to get a pure queen alien, on the surface, it is. But as seen in the film, it still has a bit human in it. ripley is the same, mostly human with a pinch od alien. In a sense this means neither was a pure alien/human which they wanted.
These idiots can't wrap their heads around general concepts written for morons in theaters.

I like that all the Alien films are very different. No point trying to copy the first two 'cause nothing can beat them.
Alien Resurrection in my opinion is better then Alien 3
The irony that almost everyone misses is that the 2nd film IS copying the first.
Seriously - it's so close to being the same plot just cut up and changed slightly with a much more action oriented lean to the script vs the horror in the original.
Let me break it down for you just so you know I'm not just being hyperbolic:
Aliens = Alien
@@mnomadvfx you can say that about every sequel.
They should of stopped, would anyone with a functional brain rewatch any them after Aliens?
@@mnomadvfxwrong...too long to cover all the bs, but they ditched everything but the main character and the Alien. It was a straight high temp action movie. And if you delve too deep, Aliens was incoherent and made very little sense. In fact, the plot was stupid.

"What the HELL is that ABOMINATION!?"

I do appreciate how each movie of the Quadrilogy is of a different style/genre... but all Alien
Ohhh sht You right
I hate this movie but you make a fair point. I still hate it though. 😅
This is going to be pedantic, but the correct word for a series of four is "tetralogy" (tetra = four, logos = word). Pace illiterates at Fox who barbarously mix Greek and Latin in one word.
Tetralogy

Aliens
Alien 3
Alien resurrection

AvP requiem

@@rbrtckis it up to you to decide what is or isn't lore?

Call me crazy but I really like this movie!
I kinda wished they had shown the paper currency in a little closer detail. I also found it interesting that the United Systems has its own Congress😂
If I remember correctly, there supposed to be a comic book where it was going to be a three-way crossover between alien, predator and Terminator that takes place after this movie
Possibly idk if it's directly tied in but yes ripley did fight off xeno-terminator hybrids along side predator.
AvPvT is one of the Dark Horse Comics. Very fun.
Just like Alien³, I love this movie - it made such an impression on me back when I watched it on VHS in 99. The FX are awesome and I love the characters and humor in it. Another one that is criminally underrated.
100% AGREED!

The scene with the guy about to have a chest birth and is being forced to fight, charge, etc is pretty unique and cool.
Leland Orser's "what's in f-inside me!" scene is also awesome.

@ oh so he’s kind of typecast in these type of roles huh? He does them well. I’ll give him that.
I loved this movie growing up, use to hold my breath during the swimming scene 😅💜💜

I’ve enjoyed the entire timeline and im so excited to see Romulus this week!

I love the Jeunet "look" and direction.
sadly Resurection wasn't tinkered ...
5'11". Same height as Taylor Swift.
I liked that it gave the actor a different approach she got to play her character different.
Ripley grandchild give me the 1988 Pumpkinhead vibes
This was my first Alien movie that I saw in the cinema. The previous 3 I got to watch on vhs tapes and/or the local erm... pirating tv channel (back when there were almost to no regulations). One thing I realised in watching this movie is that it's basically Joss Whedon's First Draft of the Firefly TV show. Seriously, go back and look at the crew. Mal, Jayne, River, all the characters from Firefly are sort-of there. You can see all the things that would evolve.

Plot device, don't try to make it make sense. Even the first sequel was stupid on plot.
14:49 "they look a bit different don't they"
The in-story explanation is that the queen also has some human dna in her, so the xenos have a more "fleshy" appearance
Though it was more likely that the design team (Woodruff and Gillis, from the previous movie too) just preferred the more "monstrous" desing over the original's more bio-mechanical
Hopefully y’all watch Prometheus and then Alien Covenant, I think they are both very good extensions of the Alien franchise
Ripley is gonna give birth to an egg on Earth and cause a whole hybrid Alien War.

i have a soft spot for Resurrection, it's immediately not as serious, and it's more of an action sci fi with Aliens in the mix, but i think what it does right, it does it REALLY WELL, and what it doesn't or what feels a bit more whimsical, isn't too overwhelming and doesn't ruin the experience.
it's just a fun ride with more xenos :v

funny enough, the director's cut adds some really needed ties to previous movies, including Ripley's memories of newt, her death on Fiorina, and even the fate of Weyland-Yutani (apparently got bought by walmart 🤣)

"I'm the monster's mother" is the best line in any Alien film.
I think "I'm the monster's mother" as a line is certainly up there, but "Get away from her you BITCH!" has it beat hands down.
"Get away from her you b*tch" is still up there for me.
As for "monster's mother" like everything good in Resurection it was forever spoiled and tainted by this god awful mess of a third act.

When they find out that the girl is an android, the guy that was in the mobile chair says "you're second gen, aren't you"? is an easter egg. The same actor says the same line in the original Bladerunner to the 2 androids (Roy and Chris) that come to his house.

The basketball shot was real and as soon as Sigourney was out of frame the Director was like yesssssssssssssssss!
There's an extended version of this movie showed them landing on the post apocalyptic Earth landscape with Call and Ripley sitting down for a conversation. It's a far better ending than the theatrical version imo. Prometeus Is awfull and Covenant absoluta garbage. I hope they never watch that shit.
Good tip. Loved Prometheus and have an appreciation for Covenant.
45:53 the fact that the Xenomorph’s grew(or evolved) a face is quite disturbing 😳
26:49 _"Earth, man....what a shitehole!"_
If you'd chosen to watch the Special Edition, all the way through to the end, you'd have seen just how much of a "shitehole" Earth has become in the 24th Century of the Alienverse.
