This video instruction was clear, conscise and to the point. Disassembly and reassembly took less than 15 minutes which saved me the $350 labor quoted by our local Audi dealership. Thank you so much.
Excellent video, one and one one that I could find, Question - is it possible to remove round knob and switches to remove, need to clean under switches as some one managed to spill coffee and can not access the main menu, appreciate any suggestion
@@lukestaub359 yes. My back button was basically frozen due to spill… I followed the instructions and was able to clean it and now it’s better than new. That’s the only way… I’ve tried non-intrusive products where it claims to dissolve sticky stuff by leaving it soaked into the button and that never worked. The button cannot be popped out due to design.
Great video. Note that if you want to remove the MMI unit, you have to separate the plastic cover from the base plastic unit. There are 3 screws that you have to remove - all around the cup holder. The rest of the cover can be pried off. There are 4 screws in each corner of the MMI unit that hold it in place. I removed and opened the MMI unit and cleaned the circuit board with electronic cleaner. My MMI unit had a run-in with Diet Coke. Unfortunately cleaning it did not work for me. The NAV/tel and the menu buttons still don’t work. Next step is eBay to get a used one.
Great video, my presets panel is glitching meaning I can’t see the sat nav when on. If I replace the part 8W0919614N, does it need reprogramming in the back end?
Hi, great video! Do you have instructions on how to remove the 2017 A4 MMI Control Unit? I removed the screws from the bottom of the trim, but the MMI Control Unit doesn't appear to come out easily.
Did you find out how to do this? Tomorrow I will start replacing my MMI headunit for an Android one. I had a look today but have no clue where to start.
Thanks for the video. If we need to remove only the round dial part, do you think it can be done without opening the entire console? I need to clean the menu and back buttons from underneath.
I don't think it can. I struggled to get the console out and was able to just spray some "CRC QD Electronic Cleaner" while working the buttons for a few minutes to get it the menu and back buttons unstuck
Thank you for this! I'm able to get most of the way there, but the clips around the cup holder area on my 2017 A4 are not budging, and I don't want to crack the plastic. Any ideas?
The central console of my a5 (2018) makes some annoying noises. I think it is coming from the center console trim. Do you have any experience with this? Is it a matter of tightening the screws? The noise started a year ago.
If I wanted to change the silver trim around the gear selector do I need to remove this giant section of the center console or can I get away with just removing the gear knob and leather?
hi, Is it possible to just remove the MMI wheels? I spilled some Latte and the two buttons above the MMI are stuck (I guess when milk dried up) so the Menu and Back Buttons won't come back up. Is it possible to remove just the Wheel and remove the buttons to clean them?

What I really want to know is when you remove it and disconnect it, does it disconnect from the electronics. Once removed is the top portion just the buttons. The electrical down in the console, I wouldnt clean that with water.
Does anybody know if the MMI Control (buttons and dial) are coded to the car? I can get a replacement for £160 and with this video, i can just replace it myself. But i dont want to do that unless its not going to cause coded issues later. The dealer wants over £1300 for a replacement (due to spilt drink making the buttons sticky)
