  • If the student is dyslexic, he’ll need to scan the worksheet with the App Prismo Scanner 5 first, then export it as PDF into Notability.

Will notability read to you if you scan with it instead of scanning with Prismo?

No, if you scan with Notability, the text cannot (yet) be read. I have asked Notability to think about it. Let’s see what they do in the future… May I ask where you are from? Will the iPad and Notability be allowed for exams? Are you also using an app such as VoiceDream Reader to read novels? Do you know that you can ask schoolbook publishers to provide you with an accessible PDF so your daughter can do all the class work in these PDF directly in Notability?

@@dyspraxieluxembourg1383 I was not aware of that. Thank you for the information, I will talk to her IEP team about having schoolbooks accessible on PDF. Do you know if this is available for college text books as well? We live in Groves, TX. This district has a lot of resources but unless we ask for something (which most of the time we don't know what to even ask for) it won't be offered. My daughter is in 9th grade and she is worried she will not be able to go to college because she struggles reading. She is bright and able to learn but with the dyslexia and auditory processing dx its easy for her to loose information during class time.

@@marcosr2225 I can’t say for sure if in the USA, one can ask for the accessible PDF version of the college books. However, in France, there is a law that says that children with a disability (blind, dyslexic, dyspraxic, etc…) can have free access to accessible PDF version of all schoolbooks and novels, any publications that has an ISBN number! You might want to join the following FB group and ask them : facebook.com/groups/Dysgraphia/?ref=share.
Here in France, Belgium and Luxembourg, , we ask an association (BookinLu) to do that job and find the PDFs for us, OR we ask directly the publisher. In the past, I did ask directly Cambridge University Press for PDF versions of a few of their schoolbooks for college, and I got them OK. Then, you simply import them in Notability and also possibly in VoiceDreamReader (for the novels) and your daughter can listen to the instructions/novel. It’s just great! Good luck!
