I think Andy experienced after Dirty Harry what Eric Roberts experienced after Star 80. I.e. people didn't get that they were actors and believed they were their characters. Sad,
I think that's an excellent point. His roles in the 70's after that were a bit predictable, and even into the 80's. Either the snot nosed law enforcer or some nerdy wank that nobody has any time for. Complete disrespect for a fine actor. He should be remembered for more than just Dirty Harry. A great character actor and an even better teacher.
