Lemon Tree is him in his best form. You can tell which songs he puts the most passion into. Can't wait till he's free to make a full project exactly how he wants
Lemon tree is personally my favorite in this album, can always go back to it without it not feeling like they forced post to make it
bettERRRRRRRRRRRR
@@rivalsoul9853 the bettteeerr part always gets me and it sounds like he's country
No
He should make every type of song and that is what makes him special, it may be songs like Cooped Up or Lemon Tree which are totally two different types of tracks. The man shouldn't be put in a box to make just one type of genre.
first 3 are amazing and then the label takes over. Posty said he's not in control of the music he makes really. you can tell the sound he was ACTUALLY going for in a few of the tracks
Often it's the opposite. Label cares only for the first 10 songs. And the rest usually are what artist wants to add to the album
it's pretty obvious which ones are for commercial use and which are for him
The first half of the album was pretty good the second half was terrible
post is very much in control of his music.. lol
Sorry? Second song Cooped up is clearly a commercial song. He wanted to do Wasting angels with kid laroi which is further into the album. So have to thoroughly disagree
the transition from 1 into 2 was pretty damn clean

That’s why I hate when he skips songs because he’s heard them before. Some songs sound and hit different in context on an album.
Post will always come out with a decent album, and he will ALWAYS have at least 1 song that you just cannot stop listening to.

Nah not for us pop haters
@@ninjaboy191 at least Hollywood's Bleeding had good pop music. This album just has derivative and super generic pop. A few more expressive, emotional tracks but those are few and far between and really don't feel fleshed out or like fully realized ideas. Except for maybe Lemon Tree.

Malone is always enjoyable to listen to, I like that he’s down to be in (all) feels. He shared in the Hot Ones interview that he was making this album for the enjoyment of making music again. Very solid project.
I personally really loved the album ❤️ lemon tree was amazing and the album mostly felt very personal
I feel like it doesn't have alot of bangers you know ? Anything as memorable as graduation but that's not fair being one of his best tracks.
@@gie3973 That’s not the type of album this is tho ! He is trying to be more personal and show his feelings some songs are more twords his others but it’s more personal
@@LifeOfJakoby54 definitely I figured and I do love reputation and waiting for a miracle, I guess I just wanted a wavey melodic banger too cause cooped up wasn't it. Decent album tho. What's your rating out of 10?
@@gie3973 Personally as a really big post fan it’s a 8 or 9 but again That’s just me I love when people get honest and kinda show there feelings so I enjoyed it a lot but I totally see where others are coming from if they don’t like it
lemon tree has the worst hook i’ve heard in a long time, literally garbage
Honestly my only real problem with the album is the sequencing. Having songs like Cooped Up between Reputation and Lemon Tree, and One Right Now between Waiting for a Miracle and New Recording 12, is just such a mood killer
Who cares, those were singles throwing into the album, the songs from the album are actually good
Cause the big songs they know will be hits were seperated between filler songs that most people won’t hear because they aren’t a Post fan
I started to listen to it with Lemon Tree and One Right Now being swapped, because then you have the first half being more upbeat and the second more acoustic and mellow. But One Right Now is such a fantastic last (or almost last) track because of the atmosphere. I feel like the best way is just to shuffle it altogether.
@@cli260 Yeah, that's a good idea to switch! When I listen to it now, I usually just shuffle anyways. I prefer to listen to One Right Now outside the context of the album. It feels better as a single anyways, and it is a really awesome song!
Honestly been refreshing throughout the day to catch this. Happy I got here early. I think there's an outcry from Post to shed his fame and own his given name again. This album feels very rich and Post's vocals, as you said, can't be recreated. Happy to have him back despite the turmoil he may have been wrestling with during the project's production.
Just turn on post notis🤷🏾♂️
I think the difference between someone like Jack Harlow and Post Malone doing corny lines like "Pulled your girl like a hammy" is that Post doesn't try to be cool. He's a self professed nerdy dude, who's just being himself to the fullest. I expect that Post himself knows these lines are gonna be goofy but does it anyways.
Facts
It's actually a solid album album, I don't think there was a single song I didn't like, really refreshingly just enjoyable album that I can listen to it all the way through. I'm not gonna pretend all the tracks were the most memorable but there is something to be said about an album I can just vibe to and not really notice when the song changes because it's just one continuous vibe. really enjoyed it, oddly enough the song with the weekend almost feels like the odd song out in the album which might be why it was at the end of the album
sayin this is a solid album but hating on jacks one lmaoo NA brain is so fucked up
Yeah no skips on this one
I really agree with this
No skips for me too.
Sad there are no real bangers tho, Hollywoods bleeding had at least 3 real good tracks
Love/hate is one of my favourite songs on his album but I have to say the live version that released a few days back is better then the studio version imo
When a live version of a radio song turns out to be better it’s one of the most amazing things to hear
I couldn’t agree more
Bro I was saying the same thing
It seems like most of the bigger male artists are releasing introspective and personal albums this year. I like that.
This album is straight fire. The label obviously pushed for the handful of commercial tracks that are radio ready. But the minimal joints with 1 or 2 instruments/layers are my favorite. Fantastic vocal processing. Props to his engineer.
Post has a way of making you love him even in all the basic-ness. He’s just a lovable guy with infinite hugs to give.
I like post cuz when I see him play games with people and seems to be so humble and down to earth and he doesn’t really care about fame, he just does what he likes when he can!
this album is the definition of studio interference. you can easily tell that this is a power struggle between post’s creativity and the label’s greed. it’s so disappointing, because the songs that he actually put a lot of effort into could’ve been an incredibly depressing, but beautiful album. what we got is still listenable and good, but imagine what it could have been.
Now that i think about it, what if its like that on purpose? What if this album is telling us that even if we want to do certain things in life, we might not be able to do it. Kind of a tug of war between the two sides as we can see with the vast switch-up between a record where Post is going through pain to a record where the label needs to make a record that earns money and popularity.

I don't know how to explain this, but 90% of this album should've come out in the winter

Yeah i was lowkey hoping for a summer vibe album but NOOOOO

that’s such cap. label probably forced him to say that.
i think he had more freedom but as a big artist with a huge label you still have to make singles and hits that they want

Love your energy and charisma my guy. Keep it up!
This album is full of a bunch of emotions, i think this is one of my favorites, for sure
@Shawn Cee I see people saying its disappointing (a lot of them are saying because of no bangers???) But I feel like this album has a clear story for the most part that executes what it wants well.
Songs 1-3 are about how he always gives more for others to help them but has nothing for himself and how recently hes been cooped up left to deal with his thoughts while everyone tells him how sweet life is while he gets the sour end.
Songs 4-5 are more upbeat happy songs about how much better his life is with his S/O and the tone reflects that.
Songs 6-8 is the downfall of his relationship with "Insane" (from my interpretation) being him at the club on a drunken night basically just getting fucked up and fucking women to forget/deal with his failing relationship, and "love/hate letter to alcohol" giving more info on the previous song hinting that it was probably the alcohol that led him there and detailing a potiential conflict he had with one of the girls man. Getting in a fight because he was drunk and talking about fucking his girl in the backseat in the previous song.
Song 9 "wasting angels" is him saying that hes not going to let his addiction to alcohol ruin the only thing that was making him happy (his relationship)
Song 10 "euthunasia" is him talking about him still struggling with his addiction and just wanting to be put out of his misery because of how overwhelming it is.
Song 11 "When im alone" is talking about how his relationship is potientally gone for good because of his actions and how the pact they made to take him back isnt going to work this time and he has to deal with the repercussions of his actions.
Song 12 "waiting for a miracle" Is the aftermath of his realization that his bad decisions have ruined the only thing he had and how if he wasnt so scared to pull the trigger sober he would be gone by now.
Song 13 (we dont talk about this one)
Song 14 (New Recording 12, Jan 3, 2020) is just a culmination of it all and knot on the abum.
Let me know what you think..

Keep making great vids⭐⭐
I didnt expect this from Post but I really liked it. I think in that same sense a lot of people arent going to like it since they just want some generic pop stuff to bop to. Thers a lot of weak aspects but overall Post is still growing as an artist and I'm still excited to see what he comes up with next
I used to hate cooped up until the album came out. In the context of the album, I like it a lot more (even though roddys part is very okay for him).
I PULL UP
roddy overcomplicated tf outta his flow for no reason lol
@@GARZA_ICMG I think the backlash from his last album has got to him with him trying too hard, imo
He should’ve kept roddy out no cap but im use to it
Roddy verse was awful
"post malone, when he sings, it sounds like a cry falling on deaf ears" yeah that hit hard. that description was dope as hell
The thing I got from this album is it’s just a great album that Post did purely for himself. He even said in the Hot Ones video that he was doing this album purely for him to enjoy making music again, and that he’s in a happier place with this album. He’s not trying to make music for the radio, or for charts, but just for fun. Beautiful album imo, people need to stop making it into something it’s not and just appreciate it fr
this album proved to me that it's time for post Malone to immerse fully in the singer songwriter style, that's where he shines here. the pop-rap-rnb crossover stuff is played out for him, he's done it too many times
Fully agree with this take - he feels like he’s on autopilot when he doing that pop rap stuff
@@rorylennon4043 because a song like Insane, Lemon Tree and the opening track??? bruhhhhhhh🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
No matter what Post drops I’ll listen and be a fan. He’s too likeable.
Pretty honest review and i appreciate that. I’m usually a fan of whatever he wants to do but i feel like this album is uneven. I feel like he wants to jump genres and do a hard rock or folk album but doesnt want to lose fans or be told that he “couldnt make it” in the hiphop game (like mgk going full poppunk), so he put a few hiphop tracks in a folk album. But by the end i think he just did exactly what he wanted. Not my fav of his but i’ll always check in on his new shit because he clearly has tons of talent, he just doesnt want to be pigeon holed so he bobs and weaves to a fault sometimes.

15 secs in and subbed
i feel like post really just needs to pull through with the music HE wants to make. i can see his vision with this album, but the generic pop h&m songs just weigh the whole thing down
this take keeps getting spewed but it's just not accurate, these songs in question have been a consistent staple in his discography and knowing the context of the record you'll know the entirety is something he's been very adamant is stuff he wanted to make and nobody else, he fell out of love with music at one point and regained it and created what he wanted- it's easy to look at his creatively crafted songs and then look at the pop bangers in comparison and chalk it up to assume he doesn't want to make them. call the melodies generic and throw in the typical 'sounds like it'd play in h&m/kohls!" comment but they still fuck hard
Few decent tracks for sure. One thing is, you can’t go into a Post album expecting it to be all rap

Damn you were hella critical but I really respect your opinions. I disagree with a lot of them but I respect it. For me the album seems to be a stark departure from a lot of his previous music. Defintley the "Hollywood is Bleeding" kind of vibes. Having and currently dealing with severe depression I find myself really enjoying this album. It speaks to me in many of the ways I think about myself. Being in a dark place is hard. Actually thinking about suicide is a real struggle dealing with (dont worry it's not going to happen). It more stems from the sweet realese that not being here would offer. Drowning youself in coping mechanisms is super relatable and a way to combat those feelings. I personally think this album speaks to me in a way that shows me that im not alone. I know and im sure he knows he is loved by the important people in his life. Often times in a dark place it is really hard to remember that. To know that. To wrap this up, I know this comment is trending on the negative side so I want to end it on a positive note. Depression sucks… like really sucks. I hope anyone who reads this never has to deal with mental health issues in any capacity. For those of you who do, I say: You are not alone, I hear you, I understand. Our experiences with mental health may be different, but your mind matters! In this way we are the same. You are not alone!

I wonder how much of the songs Post has made himself. If you look at the credits, you can see a lot of names.
I can only think of ”White Iverson” as a song that Post has totally created on his own. Any other songs that are 100 % his creation?
What song is nowadays
the names in the credits are people who helped produce the album, the album cover, helped inspire post in the studio, and help polish sounds in the songs, oh and also the brand
As a ghost write myself, almost no artist makes everything by themselves anymore. Even independent artists ask their friends for help with lyrics or hire someone like me to fine tune melodies and drive points home.
even white iverson has other names credited as writers and producers
@@jacobbarringer8977 yeah for sure I kinda meant to say that with the inspiration in studio, and about the ghost writer thing, I can’t really say much on the fact cuz im not educated on it
