- Not everyone celebrates the new year in the middle of winter; for 300 million people around the world, their new year begins at the moment of the vernal equinox. The holiday of Nowruz celebrates that “new day” by encouraging us to make poetic connections between life and death, and past and present. National Geographic photographer, Babak Tafreshi, reacquaints us with the shimmering origins of this ancient Persian holiday; they are above our heads, shining in the night sky.

I’m amazed by how beautifully and artistically he describes the poetic connections between the life on earth and the constellations in the sky. Well done.
I celebrate nowraz, as a day of new beginnings new life, greenery, life, hope.
Being Shia Muslims, I'm Kashmiri and thee majority of shia Muslims celebrate it. We clean out houses and cook meals and visit our relatives and pals. Besides planting tress and cherish life and hope is done on this day.
Since Sunni Muslims killing & abusing Shiites Muslims for the last 1400 years & Salfi Wahabies Daobandies are also antagonist of Shiites, so that long ago I not only quit Shiites ism but also left the Islam and now I’m free from the slavery of religion & mythological lies of all religions, & only KHUDA is enough more for me because :
MERA QADAM QADAM PER MADAD GAAR HAI KHUDA
WATA IZZOU MN TASHAO, WATA ZILLO MN TASHAA.

So fascinating , so proud as a Persian. Thank you so much
You can't see the milky way every night the sky is dark. There needs to be particular circumstances. Like no moonlight and clear sky, no clouds blocking sight.

Islam is a religion that calls for the worship of the One and Only God, there is no god but Him and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God Islam is a religion that calls for tolerance and non-racism, and Islam talks about the Prophet Jesus and his mother Mary in the Qur’an،
