For us Keralites,Southern India ,from any point Western ghats or Sahyadri ranges as we call is just a hour's drive.That is a good info from Roopa that at times paintings can reveal what a photo cannot . Unfortunately we are loosing much of western ghats thanks to the unholy nexus between plunderers like land grabbers,commercial crop farmers, granite explorers,sand miners and politicians.Scientists like Madhav Gadgil who brought out a comprehensive study on this bio diversity hot spot is ridiculed. Now we are getting paid for our sins and last few years there were huge landslides as this fragile landscapes were disturbed. We need the support of the whole world to conserve it. Let us understand that we do not live anymore in isolation . Thanks again for introducing our sacred groves.
